1,687-acre Moraine View State Recreation Area is a scenic spot for both relaxation and recreation. It features a 158-acre lake and irregular crests formed by glaciers 15,000 years ago called moraines. Sherri’s property is beautiful! It’s an old campground that they’ve spruced up, there’s a nice bathhouse with showers and flushing toilets. There’s a cute little pavilion with yard games & a coffee maker. There’s a sand volleyball court, tether ball, and swings. There’s a gravel drive so you can get your car to the camp sites and back right into your spot.

This is our second time staying at Kurt’s this year. We will be back next Spring for sure. This site is private and quiet. Kurt has thought of everything. You can tell that he is a camper by the way that the site is designed. The site is easy to back into. The sewer, water and electric hookups are perfectly placed and easy to use. This was my favorite camping experience yet. The host was very helpful and hands on. The set up was perfect for sunny and rainy days. It was sooo cozy and had a private feel to it. This was probably the best Hipcamp experience we have had so far! Sherri and her husband have done a great job making this a great site - there were games, campfires and coffee in the morning, plus a real bath house. They are located close to Turkey Run State Park (less than 10 min) and Shades State Park (about 25 min) - a great place to stay if you like hiking at these great parks. We loved staying here and plan to come back - we highly recommend it!

Sherri was a phenomenal host! Upon arrival she greeted us to show us around the beautiful property. The pictures don’t do this place justice. We loved exploring all the trails and possible places we were allowed to camp. It is really a little nature pocket tucked away that is close to many amenities. We enjoyed a camp fire with wood included looking at the full moon and stars! The ninja grill worked well for our cooking needs and Sherri helped us work it. She provided many recommendations to us on what to do and explore too. Also her cat and doggos were so friendly! The bathrooms were clean and felt luxurious for camping. She provided many basic amenities from soap, shampoo, bug spray, and fire starters. She even brought out a Keurig for us to have tea and coffee in the morning. We will be back to return and appreciate her hospitality. We really felt taken care of with our expectations exceeded!

Kurt was friendly but not ‘hovering’.
The location put us close enough to Purdue U for events but far enough to still be peaceful.

Wonderful, peaceful stay at CSC. First time in the earth shelter site, which made this such a comfortable sleep. Lots of space for tents too. We fished, biked, had dinner and games at the campfire, and overall had a wonderful relaxing visit. Bill helped us out with many small things that really made the visit extra special, like loaning us bug spray, getting my kids new fishing gear sorted and helping fix an issue with my car. Can't wait to go back!

This was our first HipCamp experience and we were not dissapointed. Kurt's property is beautiful; located far enough from town there is no light polution, so the stars were stunning. The campsite is thoughtfully located for extremely easy access and can accommodate any size rig. Kurt was a wonderful host, greeted us and offered to be available by text. He provided firewood! This spot offered us the seclusion and peace we wanted and we highly recommend staying here. Three days felt like a week to us, without the distractions of a noisy campground; just peacefulness.

I originally booked this property simply as a place to film, expecting just a small house and some land to move around on. What I actually found was something far beyond that: a magical piece of earth, a community with a fascinating history, and hosts who were kind, inspiring, and deeply connected to the land.
The property itself is breathtaking—everywhere I turned felt alive with meaning, from the gardens to the woods to the stars overhead. Within minutes of being here, I realized this wasn’t just a backdrop for my project—it was a character in the story itself. I learned about permaculture, about the unique history of the community, and left with new friends and a new perspective on what sustainable living can look like.
My hosts were wonderful. They made me feel welcome, answered every question, and even took the time to give me a tour that changed the way I look at both farming and community. Their generosity and openness made this more than a stay—it was a life experience.

2 nights at CSC Permaculture Project
My husband and I loved staying at the CSC's Earth Shelter. It was a beautiful site with lots of signs of thoughtful preparation by our hosts! There were benches around the firepit and on the porch, extra chairs to move around, a picnic table, plenty of firewood and dry kindling, and even a chiminea for a cozy porch fire in case the weather wasn't right for the firepit. The Earth Shelter was inspiring! We loved seeing it in person to appreciate all the care and expertise that went into building it. Very comfortable and well-maintained. We highly recommend it! Our hosts were wonderful as well- we had our choice of fresh-grown produce from their garden and a lovely tour of the land and area.
