Description (site overview)
Our property is nestled bellow the mountains in the upper country of Idaho close to the small quaint farm towns of Midvale and Cambridge where the nearest stoplight is 30 miles away. Whether you are looking to escape hussell and bussell or have a base camp for your next adventure, you've come to the right place! The campsite is perched up near the large pond about 1000 feet off the main road (which you may see 5 cars a day on or the occasional horseback rider). And not to worry, there is a decent driveway that will bring you within 100 feet of the campsite, a The pond is an oasis for passing ducks and geese and other wildlife. Once you've established yourself enjoy a nice walk around the pond, cast a line off the pedal boat (catch and release), or enjoy a picnic on the island with the ducks and geese. Peace and quiet is all to be had here (other than the occasional bull frog croaking.) But if adventure is what you seek, adventure you will have! Known as the gateway to Hells Canyon, there are many things to do within 5 minutes to 1 hours drive. Drop into Midvale to hit the Weiser River Trail via hiking, horseback, or mountain bike (electric bikes too). Embark on an off road adventure with your UTV/ATV, or motorcycle up the nearby mountains to Sturgill Peak Lookout where you can see 100 miles in every direction. Schedule an excursion in Hells Canyon (deeper than the grand canyon) or take a dip at the local Mundo hot spring. Fishing and floating can be had at the near by Weiser river or boating at Crane Creek Reservoir. Or maybe you're looking for a base camp for hunting season. Again, the recreational possibilities are endless! Bring your supplies and stay at camp or take a short bike ride/drive into town for some food at the Coffee Cabin or a drink at the local tavern. Maybe you forgot something? the Midvale Market has you covered, and they have adult beverages too, open 7 days a week. Midvale also has a nice little park and a local swimming pool.
Site guidelines
Respect the locals and they will return the favor. We have a great small town community that looks out for one another. You can ride recreational vehicles on most of the local roads if you choose to bring them, just be respectful of the local laws and courteous to the neighbors who live on dirt roads by keeping the dust down when you pass by. No riding off trails/roads, especially on our property! Please bring life jackets or appropriate floatation devices for children who plan to play or swim in the pond. Explore the property and feel free to pick up wood and branches from the ground for the fire pit, but please do not remove or cut down any trees, and keep fires contained in the fire pit and do not burn when it's windy. Bedding is NOT provided at this time. There is a sheet Please bring sleeping bags or desired bedding for the covered queen bed. We also just built a brand new outhouse! We are slowly adding more amenities and plan to build an outdoor shower next.
There is an extra tent under the bed for the kiddos or other guests, also a pop up shad for the warm afternoons, it covers the deck nicely.

We have 125 acre farm ranch that is waterfront on brownlee reservoir. We have 5 different camping vacations options. 1 cabin to rent. 1 camp trailer on a nice waterfront lot as well as 3 camp sports 1 with water and power hook ups (site. 2 water wheel) and 2 dry camp spots. we have a spot to launch boats which is right between sight 3 and 4. Good fishing. Very little boat traffic. Very private. In the fall big horn sheep frequently rut on the property. We usually have fresh eggs on hand. Dry climate. Sage brush and juniper trees here. We have an easy to access spot to fill up water to your camp trailers or rvs. The water is from a spring and Water tastes really good.
We just added a 24ft pontoon boat for rent.
This area has a lot of history. Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe often stayed in this area and on the property. In fact this was where his tribe met to discuss and decide to try to go to escape to Canada. This is where that journey started. You can still find arrow heads on the shoreline every so often. I’m ruffly 15 miles north of Huntington oregon. 13 miles of which is dirt road. The property sits at the base of lookout mountain. Really good cell service here with Verizon Full bars. If you decide to come camp make sure your directions take you through Huntington. Google sometimes likes to try to get people to drive over the mountain. Or if your coming from the north it sometimes wants you to go through Richland and then on 34 miles of dirt road. Going Through Huntington onto snake river rd is the easy way to go.

In the early 1900's three sheep ranchers--August Broderson, James Fisher, and Isaac Leighton--each purchased residential lots in Weiser and built brick homes designed by Idaho architect H. W. Bond. This property, which we named Butterfield Farms, was built in 1915 by August Broderson, who emigrated from Germany to the US in 1892. The Broderson family lived here for decades and were a prominent family in Weiser history. Learn more about this land:The campsite is located on our small family-run farm in Weiser, ID. You could say Boise National Forest is in the tri-forest area. It is surrounded on all sides by Payette, Salmon-Challis, and Sawtooth National Forests, it is situated conveniently close to both urban fun in Boise, and limitless wilderness adventures everywhere else. Alpine tundra is dotted with evergreen forest in the green rolling hills here, topped with snow, and anchored by sparkling valley waterways. The Payette River is great for rafting, while Banks Beach and Beehive Bend are just some of the prime access points on the forest’s 250 lakes and reservoirs (Arrowrock Reservoir has surprisingly primo salmon fishing for central Idaho).
Hikers will find 500 trails, including some that lead to 360-panoramic views at fire lookouts. The ambitious should try 10,000-foot high Trinity Mountain, while more liesurely trekkers will get just as good a view at Silver Creek. As if that’s not all enough to keep you busy, there are also endless mountain biking trails, including a scenic route along Shafer Butte. You’ll have your hands full at this intersection of so many great parks!

There is even a small
pond on the property.
Some history and geography: Where are the Falls? I wondered that myself when first bought the property.
I have asked around and done some research - and come up with two answers, although I can't verify either one.
First Answer: The old Tamarack Falls have been covered up by the reservoir. That is, there used to be a waterfall in this vicinity, but now it is covered up by Lake Cascade.
Maybe, but I can't find any old photographs showing that, and the reservoir has never gotten low enough to see any falls. In fact, at low level, the upper reaches just look like a meadow with the original channel of the Payette River meandering through. But maybe at the narrows by the Fishing Bridge it is possible there are some submerged falls there.
Second Answer: The Falls are still there, but they also are not the classic water falls you might imagine.
Instead they are the numerous streams that gush down West Mountain every spring and really never completely dry up, even in a dry autumn. They are quite pretty, but not exactly a roaring mountain waterfall.
These streams can be seen everywhere, especially in the spring, and they to tumble down a steep slope.
They come right out of the rocky
faces of the tamarack forest, so it makes sense to call them Tamarack Falls.
They are all over the place. At least two of these streams ( and more in the spring) feed the pond on this property. Hence Tamarack Falls Pond.
The pond is "artificial" in the sense that it was created when fill dirt used to build West Mountain Road blocked the stream and created a small pond.
The pond stays at a constant level because its outflow is
a culvert that runs under West Mountain Road and from there into Lake Cascade.
Two main streams feed the pond - one on the northside and one on the southside.
The shape of the two little submerged valleys give the pond a lopsided crescent shape with a small peninsula curving out into the middle of the pond's west side.

Hello. My name is Tamara and my husband is Andy. We bought this place in 2022 with the goal of raising animals humanely and providing good food options to purchase at reasonable prices. After moving to Ontario I noticed there are not many good options for nighttime sleep. I fondly remember camping with our kids in a location we named Neverland. We decided we wanted to create that for people. That’s why we joined Hipcamp. We have several sites that range from close to the house and bathroom access to remote in a field with the sounds of the creek to lull you to sleep. To increase safety and aid in positive memory making, only one group is allowed at a time. We have lots of space so whether you are a lone traveler, a family, or a group of friends looking to make memories consider staying with us and our animals. We generally have goats, chickens, and pigs. From July to October, we often have pheasants. This year we do not so I can do repairs to the small coop. Look us up on Facebook under Micone Ranch.
Our driveway is immediately off Ontario Heights Rd. Google tells people to turn on Grand View Lane. There is no access to our property from that direction. We have a 300-gallon trash bin next to our mailbox that says camp host. Our driveway is immediately across the road from there. The bridge at the entrance to our property is 11' wide, which should allow a standard 8' RV to pass into the property. RV hook up is right off the driveway by the power pole. Ground is in its native form and only gets minimal rain. Some weeds and goatheads may be present.
A small, creek runs through the front of the property year-round. Water is clearer during the winter and spring months. The spots I have cleared in this area are small. I recommend tent camping in this area. It is densely wooded. We have goats in this field; they are shy. We have goat treats available for sale if you would like to feed them.
Oregon has an invasive, poisonous weed called Water hemlock. If you camp in this area, familiarize yourself with this plant so you can avoid it. Camping areas have been cleared of this plant. If you wander along the creek, you will encounter it.

PRIVATE MOUNTAIN YURT NEAR GARDEN VALLEY, IDAHO
Camp in comfort on nearly 45 secluded wooded acres between Banks and Crouch, about a mile from the South Fork of the Payette River. This private mountain yurt offers an authentic Idaho wilderness experience with electricity, Starlink Wi-Fi, heat, air conditioning, propane cooking, a wood stove, and a large private deck.
This is not a campground loop, neighborhood, or glamping resort. The yurt sits by itself in the forest, surrounded by ponderosa pines, wildlife, dark skies, and quiet mountain terrain.
SLEEPING
The open-layout yurt sleeps up to 5 guests:
• Two guests on the padded lower bunk
• One guest on the padded upper bunk
• Two guests on the futon
The bunks use padded sleeping mats rather than conventional mattresses. Guests who prefer additional cushioning may bring a sleeping pad or inflatable mattress.
Bedding, pillows, and towels are not provided. Bring sheets, blankets or sleeping bags appropriate for the season, pillows, and towels. Winter-rated sleeping bags are strongly recommended during cold weather.
POWER, WIFI, HEATING AND COOLING
The yurt has electricity and fast Starlink Wi-Fi. The mini-split provides heat and air conditioning, making the yurt comfortable during both hot summer days and cold mountain nights.
A wood stove is available for supplemental heat and ambiance. Firewood is not provided for the wood stove or outdoor firepit but can be purchased locally in Crouch or Garden Valley.
COOKING
The yurt includes:

WATER AND TOILET
There is no running water, shower, or indoor bathroom.
Fresh water is provided in 5-gallon containers for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes. The yurt has an indoor dishwashing sink, but it is not connected to plumbing.
A clean private porta-potty is located about 100 ft from the yurt and professionally serviced weekly.
PARKING AND ACCESS
There is no parking directly beside the yurt.
Guests may unload gear near the porta-potty, which is a short walk from the yurt. After unloading, vehicles must be moved to one of two designated parking areas. Both require a short uphill walk.
The path is natural mountain terrain and may be uneven, dusty, muddy, snowy, icy, or slippery depending on weather.
The final approach is a narrow rock and dirt mountain road with steep sections. Apple Maps and Google Maps may route guests incorrectly, so detailed directions, GPS coordinates, parking instructions, and unloading guidance are provided before arrival.
During winter, AWD or 4WD with proper winter tires or chains is required.
LIGHTING
The yurt has interior electric lighting but no exterior lighting. Bring headlamps or flashlights and plan to arrive before dark when possible.
DOGS
Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome when included in the reservation.
Dogs must remain leashed whenever outside, may not be left unattended inside the yurt, and must leave with you whenever you leave the property. Please pick up all pet waste.
We have two Rhodesian Ridgebacks and free-range chickens elsewhere on the property, so strict leash control is required.
WILDLIFE AND FIRES
This is active wildlife habitat. Guests may encounter deer, elk, turkey, skunks, porcupines, snakes, foxes, bobcats, bears, mountain lions, and other wildlife.
Never approach or feed wildlife, and do not leave food, pet food, or trash outside.
All fires must follow current restrictions, remain attended, and be fully extinguished before sleeping or leaving. Outdoor fires may be prohibited during periods of high fire danger.

We are three parcels of land approximately 4 acres in all. The orchard consists of 27 different fruit trees, a pond for cooling off or swimming. Explore the greenhouse, gardens and bee yard. Jan and her family were some of the most welcoming gracious people I have ever met! I felt so lucky to have stumbled upon her space as it felt like all of them bent over backwards to make me feel at home. Staying with Jan and her family is more than just a place to stay, it’s an experience within itself! Great& beautiful location about 45 mins outside of Boise and 2.5 to the Stanley. I booked the day of and somehow it felt as though she had still somehow planned out everything for me. Could not recommend more, can confidently say this is the only hipcamp experience I’ve had that I cannot wait to return!!

She’s just all around good people! Was in town for work. Not a whole lot of camping around. This place is absolutely amazing. Animals are wonderful. Literally as all the stuff, the bathroom fire pit. Even in the Smoke, I could tell how beautiful the views around it were. Had an amazing time and look forward to using this place as my camping spot every time I come to East Oregon.

What a wonderful spot to lay our heads for the night. It’s tucked away behind the home and small farm but near town, so dinner is walkable if you venture out (try Cook Shack!). We were able to plug in our little camper for AC in the almost 100-degree weather… we slept soundly in this quiet spot. Also, the sheep are sweet and the owners are kind and responsive. On our way out, we enjoyed coffee and pastry at Sweet Roots Bakery.

We stayed at Ron’s site 1 for a last-minute overnight trip, and we only wish we could have stayed longer! It was already booked for the next day, otherwise we absolutely would have extended our stay.Ron’s directions were great, and we really appreciated the map he has in the photos showing exactly where our site was. Everything was incredibly well organized. Site 1 had the water and electric hookups we needed, and Ron even provided a 30-to-20 amp adapter which was a huge help. The kids had a blast on the swing, and waking up in the morning to watch the animals was the absolute best. We happened to be the only ones there that night, which was nice, though the campsites might feel a little close to one another if the place was fully booked. Overall, it's an awesome setup. We highly recommend Ron’s place and can’t wait to come back!

Terriland was a great place to stay. The campground was very clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, even with my 44-foot toy hauler. Pulling in and out of the site was no problem at all. The large shade trees and grassy areas made it a comfortable place to relax and cool off after a long day. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Terriland to anyone looking for a clean, spacious, and well-kept campground.

What a great spot! We stopped here for one night on our way to the Grand Tetons. It was perfect and just what we needed… peaceful, quiet, and under a large shade tree. Ron is a great host and will make sure you have everything you need. And the cute quails will keep you giggling as they wobble by in the evening.

3 nights at Upper Country Paradise Camping
The glamping tent was great! It was a really thoughtful setup. We forgot to bring bug spray, but there was already some provided, which was a nice surprise.
The paddle boat was a lot of fun, although it was a little hard to pedal at first because there was some long water grass wrapped around the paddle mechanism on the bottom. Once I removed it, it was much easier.
We visited during some of the hotter days, and I can definitely say the tent gets hot in the afternoon. I’d recommend bringing a fan or something else to help keep cool if you’re staying during the summer.
There were lots of birds around, the stars were absolutely amazing at night, and we could even hear some howling in the distance, which I thought was really cool. Overall, it’s a great place if you’re looking to get away from people and enjoy some peace and quiet. I’d definitely recommend it!
