The Woods At Sole Farm

1 site · Tent30 acres · Demorest, GA
I recently purchased this property from the estate of Robert Masters, 2013. Mr. Master's and his family lived on this property since 1957 in the small red brick house at the road. He raised chickens and cattle. The cows are the reason this property looks the way it does with it's magnificent trees. I suspect this piece of property has had cattle on it for 100+ years. Mr. Masters worked at the Historic Habersham Mill down the road as did many of the locals. This is a working farm . I have named the farm, Sole Farm. (Sole is Italian for Sun) The house on the hill, my home, is the Villa del Sole. I look forward to having you come and enjoy this beautiful piece of land I call home. Learn more about this land: COVID-19: None of the camp sites are even in sight of one another. The sights are large enough so that you and your fellow campers can social distance from one another. I certainly respect your wishes and will social distance while packing you into your site with the tractor.  You will pull into 495 Habersham Mill Rd, Green Shutter Cottage. There is a gravel drive that goes down behind Green Shutters Cottage. I will pick you up there with the tractor to pack you in and I will pack you out as well. Vehicles are NOT allowed on the property. You WILL get stuck.  A breathtaking view of the distant mountains greets you as you come on to the property as well as the majestic Villa del Sole, a Tuscan style villa on top of the hill, my home. The land drops away into rolling pastures dotted with ancient trees, some 300+!. The woodlands are filled with wildlife that surround the property where you are completely isolated from the world. There are two creeks that border each side of the property and join together and flow into Lake Habersham then into the Soque, the top trophy trout stream in the southeast. The water in these streams is pure. Please respect this and bring Earth friendly soap for washing dishes. I recommend Dr. Bonner's Pure castile soap. There is a creek by each camp site.  Behind the property is 110 acs of woodlands and fields down to Lake Habersham.  The Woodland sites and the Meadow both have streams, fire pits, benches and latrines. I will pack you into and out of your site with the tractor. I do not allow vehicles on the property. You can walked to the sites if you like. I do welcome well behaved dogs. I have two that live here with me, Buster and Rufus.  Depending on where you want to camp there are three possible campsites to choose from: The Meadow, 2 to 24 campers and, The Woodland site, 2 to 8, The Head Waters, 2 to 6 campers.  The Head Waters site is down next to the creek and next to a meadow, very secluded, no latrine. The Meadow is best for larger groups of 8 or more. It is is a medium size meadow with flat ground suitable for spacing a number of tents out. There is a fire pit, grill/grate and three benches. It also has a creek and a latrine. The Woodland site is suitable for 2 to 8 campers but is a bit limited on places to pitch tents. It too has a fire pit, grill/grate, benches, kitchen prep table and a latrine. It is by far the prettiest site right next to the creek. It's possible to sit in the creek in areas during hot weather(shallow water and COLD!. You are not completely disconnected from the world here(WIFI) but far enough away to feel isolated and private. In the bottoms, you are nestled in the woods and can see nothing around you but forest, not even the Villa and not the other campers in the meadow. You see no neighbors, houses, lights, etc. Stargazing from on top of the hill is not to be missed. I recommend Sky Watch app. Clarkesville is close by. Ingles is close by for forgotten supplies or a Starbucks fix. This is a small town, rural area, quiet and slow. There is plenty more to do if you just want Sole Farm camp as a base. Tallulah Gorge is 20 minutes to the north and hiking at Panther Creek. Habersham County does not have liquor except by the drink in restaurants. Beer and wine are sold at Ingles. The closest liquor store is in Mount Airy 25 mins, $10 more a bottle. Many good hiking opps are close by, waterfalls, thrifting. The Chattahoochee is good for canoeing, kayaking and swimming. There are several stables that offer trail rides close by. You are allowed to walk all over the property using the mown paths but please respect the other campers and my privacy. I will be respecting yours.

3 Creeks Camp and Nature Preserve

14 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents10 acres · Anderson, SC
This Property was purchased by Grandfather in the 70s  and then was passed to my Mother. In 2013 I decided to live life differently and start from the ground up building with natural materials and found materials. At that time I was fortunate enough to have the land passed to me and I started building a home for myself and to be close to my mothers home nearby. After achieving the basics I decided that the best use of this beautiful land was to create a place for people to relax and enjoy, a park like environment dedicated to preserving natural beauty and amplifying it through a permaculture lifestyle. 8 years later I am blown away at how far the dream has become a reality and love sharing my space with people from all over the country.

Andy's Trout Farm and Cabins

10 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents200 acres · Otto, NC
Andy's Trout Farm opened to the public in 1965.  It was founded and developed by Andy and Hazel Cope, with some help from their family.  In the late 1950's, while Andy was operating a service station in Dillard, GA, many travelers inquired about places to fish and camp.  The Copes used some mountain land, which they owned in the Betty's Creek Community, to develop Betty's Creek Recreation Area!  Later, they changed the name to Andy's Trout Farm and built rental cabins along the stream. They had found the ideal spot to raise rainbow trout . The cold mountain stream flowing from the mountains of North Carolina into Betty's Creek provided the water needed. It took the family several months to get a hatchery in operation for hatching, and ponds built for growing the trout. They began running the fish farm and selling trout that were caught from the catch-out ponds. They dressed the catch and even had a restaurant across the road from the fishing office! In 1968 Andy and Hazel Cope were granted the "Farm Family of the Year Awards"-  in both North Carolina and Georgia!

Escaping from Society

3 sites · Tents27 acres · Clayton, GA
My property is extremely secluded and private. Located two miles from beautiful Lake Burton and less than 10 miles from gorgeous, jaw-dropping waterfalls and landmarks. There are great opportunities nearby for trout fishing. Timpson Creek Farms is literally a walk away for organically grown fruits, vegetables, fresh honey, jams, and horseback riding; also nearby is Blackbear Creek Antiques for awesome merchandise, as well as Timpson Creek Art Gallery. Welcome for the opportunity to truly enjoy nature! There are X campsites up mountain trails on Silver Mountain. My home is located at the top of the driveway – far away from the sites. This is camping on “raw” land up on a mountain with acres to explore. It is a steep climb, very rocky, and there are areas that where caution is extremely recommended. Previous knowledgeable campers, have taken it upon themselves to make sites more comfortable. Most sites have a “store-bought” firepits to make cooking a little easier. You still need to know how to start a fire. Above my property line is an old quarry, which was abandoned years ago. There is also a bat cave (which my dog found). Many arrowheads, from the Cherokee Indian tribes; civil war bullets, and crystals have been found. Please be aware, less you forget, that there are many kinds of wildlife and birds, wild flowers, blueberries. Please take precautions not to leave food outside to attract animals. Under no circumstances is it appropriate to shoot an animal or fire weapons. The weather schedule here is not the same as downtown Clayton because we are at a much higher elevation. Make sure that your gear is water-tight. Hammock tents are, the best for a good night’s sleep. Automobiles are limited two per campsite. Arrangements have been made with a local business for off site parking. X number of people are allowed per campsite. Unregistered visitors are not allowed on the property. There is no Wi-Fi connection! Loud music or out of parties are not allowed. Each site will be given a walkie-talkie at the meet & greet, should you need to contact me. If given 48 hours, I will be glad to prepare your site for you. I have firewood available at $12 x per bundle. It is located at the bottom of trail site for pick-up, if you need it. No outrageously high fires are allowed. Please do not cut down trees. No calls after 10:00 p.m., unless it is an emergency. Novice campers will be assigned to level areas. Brush up on your camping skills. Respect the land and the environment. Leave your site as clean as you find it. Items you might want to add to your checklist: • Tarps • Ax • Shovel for burying body waste • Tools for starting a fire at your campsite If you have forgotten certain things, I do have limited gear available for lease. Returning campers will given a discount.
