The Neature Preserve (formerly known as "Tabby's Trees") consists of 74 acres made up mostly of pine forest situated in the coastal plain. A creek runs along the western boundary of the property with an ephemeral (seasonal) wetland to the southwest. The overstory of the forest is dominated by loblolly and slash pine with a few longleaf pine sprinkled in, as well as turkey oak, live oak, laurel oak, and sweetgum. We have ~1.5 miles of trails that wind through a variety of ecosystems (trails can hiked or biked). The property has three primitive camping sites. Two of the sites are for tent camping only (where you would park your car along the hiking trail and then follow a separate path to get to the campsite), with one site that has enough space to park multiple cars or small camper right at the campsite.
The Neature Preserve is all about restoring native habitat! Prescribed fire is used at The Preserve to safely and efficiently restore and maintain productive ecosystems and to support our native plant and animal species. Lizardsniffer is a working horse farm with a variety of rental cabins and RV slips.
We DO allow tent camping.
Each RV slip has water, septic, 50 amp service and Wifi.
An Amenities Cabin is provided for use by all RV site guests. The cabin includes a full-sized washer/dryer, a full bathroom with bidet, and an oversized jacuzzi tub. Guests must sign-up for a 4-hour timeslot. The cabin is available for use between the hours of 8am-8pm.
Many of our RV sites feature private fenced paddocks for people bringing their horses or dogs. Horse visitors require all current paperwork (Coggins, etc.). Dog visitors must be social and friendly and thus are allowed to explore the farm with their owners off-leash if desired.
The property includes miles of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Bring your own horse or experienced riders may be able to ride one of ours (subject to weight/experience matching with a horse).
There is a small private stocked lake open to all guests of Lizardsniffer for fishing and swimming. At the lake you will find an amenities cabin called Glowy Bobber that has a full bathroom and outdoor shower as well as Kayaks and floats for guest use.

A beautiful small farm where we homestead. We have a large garden, including raised beds, and raise everything organically. No pesticides. We raise miniature horses, miniature Highland and Highland cross cattle, Kune Kune and Kune Kune cross pigs, as well as chickens and geese. We have a lovely 1+ acre pond in front of the main house, which is fully stocked with Brim, Channel Catfish and Largemouth Bass. This pond has a wonderful ecosystem and is home to Kingfishers, wood ducks, Storks, herons, egrets, and is a place where a nesting pair of Bald Eagles come for water, and an occasional fish. We have an in-ground swimming pool, and a paddle boat to take out on the pond.
Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend get away, or a chance to experience farm life on a small homestead, this place has a lot to offer.
We offer a canning class, making artisan bread, and a hayride (tractor pulled) around the property. Breakfast and lunch or breakfast and Dinner can be included in the stay at an additional charge.
We have 2 large horses that can be fed carrots, loved on, petted, and the possibility of some riding.
Gathering eggs, feeding the hens and pigs, playing with Titan the farm mascot (our Great Dane dog), or just relaxing around the pool, or around a fire pit, there is always something happening on our little farm.
The lady of the house has her Serv Safe certification for preparing and serving food and has been a home chef for parties and catering for several years.

We have been to Deerfield a few times now and we have always enjoyed our stay. Thomas is an excellent host and it is always nice to chat with him while we are there. The location cannot be beat, giant pond, great screened in game area/hangout area to cook in, eat in or just enjoy hanging out together. There is a outside bathroom which is great to have access to along with an outdoor shower. You have all the hookups for rving as well. You are in a beautiful area with open areas to spread out, let the kids run around, let your pets to stretch their legs. You are in the peaceful countryside where you can see all the stars put in a spectacular show, if there are no clouds. You will never want to leave! Thank you Thomas for sharing your beautiful property with us.

This camp site is wonderful. It is a private primitive camp site. Quiet, peaceful, in its natural state. An immersion and still close to Twin city with necessities. Iwas just passing through the state and car camping. It was perfect for a quiet and safe place to get s good mights sleep before moving back on the road. I didn't have time to explore. I could picture at least one full day of exploration. Maybe there will be a next time.

We loved camping here! We took our dog camping for the first time, and he was so sad to leave. He really enjoyed it and even learned to swim. We caught about seven fish in one day. Mr. Vic was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. There’s also a drive in movie theater about 20 minutes away that we definitely recommend.(the big mo) a fun thing to do while camping. We can’t wait to come back!

Our stay at the alpaca farm was great! It was really peaceful with the pond right there. Our hosts told us all about the alpacas and donkeys, and we enjoyed playing some board games on the covered porch. We were worried about rain, but this was the perfect campsite for potential bad weather because of the large porch! We will definitely return!
