Welcome to Smokey Acres! This property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires out there. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando. A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. We are a close distance to many racing, livestock, boating and fishing events. We have no problem accommodating whatever you’re towing! Whether you'd like a leisurely day on the river or an adventure in the Gulf, there are plenty of boating options nearby. Be sure to make it back to the property in time to enjoy amazing sunsets that bring peace and tranquility to your experience. Our neighbors, JG Ranch, offers U- Pick Fruit and Vegetables or a great selection of local harvest at their roadside stand. This 10-acre property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires together out there. I've recently moved back home with my own family and as much as we enjoy the land for ourselves we'd love to share it. Any profit from hosting campers will help us maintain our sustainable farm that we're hoping to expand onto Smokey Acres. Just in! Our dirt road has been repaved. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay. Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites. Property is home to a farm with hundreds of fruit trees- Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava). Red Mombin, and thousands of banana plants. Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too. Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand. Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas. The nursery has plenty of trees, and some fields -the large pond is surrounded by cattails and marsh/wetlands and has fish (Bass, Tilapia, Sunfish, Catfish). Several species of wildlife have been seen on the property. We think the property is lovely, and definitely want you to enjoy your camping experience!

Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

An 8' x 7' yoga deck is a great place to stretch out, and doubles as your tent's platform when it's time to set up camp. In the outdoor shower area there's a "Nature's Head" composting toilet just a few steps away from where you'll be staying. Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

In the outdoor shower area there's a "Nature's Head" composting toilet just a few steps away from where you'll be staying. During the day, you'll be free to get online and catch up with the work world, or walk the garden and discover one of the many hideaways scattered around the property. You never know what will be in season, but with the guidance of one of your hosts, you can try a variety of fruits, greens, and berries if they're ready for harvest. A rich variety of wild birds visit regularly, recognizing it as a safe haven for wildlife. And though we can't guarantee you'll see a rare one, we can guarantee you'll see CHICKENS! Six of them in fact, Salty, Sleepy, Jet, Little Comb, Tapatio, and Dutchess. These friendly, curious, and fearless little marauders are guaranteed to make your acquaintance, and if you're not looking, invite themselves to share your breakfast. They free roam the yard during daylight hours, so please help us keep all gates shut to prevent them from going on an unscheduled field trip. They will also leave "landmines" on the pathways, so be sure to watch your step. We do our best to keep everything clean and tidy, but chickens abhor tidiness. And will go out of their way to unleash chaos at every turn. Still, we love the little bird brains and they are an entertaining addition to the grounds. They're also the reason we ask that all pets, and children under 12, be left at home. Really nice campground. I didn’t explore much as I just needed a quiet place to tent camp overnight after a sport event, but it was perfect for me. Site was large, with two spigots, a big picnic table and grill. Bathroom was very clean and great water pressure in the shower! Would definitely stay here again.

We ended up on site 6 from site 5 but also used the dock site the first night, the host was very accommodating and checked in once or twice a day on his bike or vehicle. The water was nice to sit on and troll for fish with my kayak and the ground was very clean, the site numbers are hard to figure out bc the numbers are small but again accommodating enough to figure out. A little cramped when exiting with a diesel truck so slow is best to avoid hitting the top of camper with softer low limbs. Also my GPS took me through the neighborhood next door to reach the mailboxes where I ended up at the back gate, just follow the pond around and you will wind up on the road with the mailboxes.

We loved our stay at Ellen’s yoga yurt! It was better than I even could have expected, and was such the perfect little spiritual retreat. We opted to add on the Kundalini Yoga and Sound Bath experiences and are SO happy that we did. These are the kind of experiences you usually have to travel out of the country for. I truly loved the design and the decorations, and especially all of the sound bowls and instruments I got to play with while I was there. The gong and the rain stick were a few of my favorites. The tree house was another super fun addition, and climbing up into it took me back to my childhood. It was truly magical and I can’t wait to come back again. Thank you, Ellen 🙏🏼🧘🏼‍♀️🕉️

This was a great place to camp! We stayed at camp site 5, which was tucked away in the woods along the trail. It felt remote and secluded, which made for a peaceful stay. There were three of us staying and we each had enough room with our own tents. We were able to purchase fire wood on site which was convenient. The spot is far enough away from people to feel like primitive camping but it’s also a close enough drive off the highway that we ran to Walmart for some extra supplies. Since it is near the highway I could hear some traffic at night but that is not a deal breaker for me, especially since everything else worked well for us. It was only about 15-20 minutes from Weeki Wachee Springs, which was a fun excursion. The site was clean, the addition of the shower and bathroom were pleasant, and the property was beautiful. I think all three of us are considering coming back in the future!

Everything went well it was a very peaceful place. It was clean it was cute my only suggestion is is maybe bring something that pads the pull out bed they have in there but other than that everything else was perfect. Thank you so much for the space Star wars were fine bathroom was fine I had a couple of campfires it was just quiet and peaceful and I had massive alone time and I loved it. Mini fridge worked and AC probably worked but I never had to turn it on I just used the fan because it was cool evenings and it was a great base for me to stay in order to go fishing or out somewhere sleep late lay there or just listen to the sounds of the forest which I don't get to hear very often. Thank you thank you thank you so much. I'm probably going to stay again sometime.
