As a family who has towed campers across the US a couple times utilizing Hip Camp we know others will appreciate the ease of pulling into our little 1 acre urban oasis just a couple miles off the interstate in Floridas Coolest City.
It’s an ideal location to explore St Pete as we are right between the beaches and downtown (5 miles to St Pete beach, 4 miles to downtown -$10 Uber ride), Sarasota and/or Tampa. Ours is an urban spot based on ease, safety and location, not a wilderness "experience"
We have a paved circular driveway overlooking our beehives, henhouse and seasonal garden where you’ll find a table with chairs and plenty of space to cookout and enjoy a quiet evening with a great sunset by the blowing bamboo.
This is one of South St Pete’s oldest neighborhoods- it surrounds an active former PGA golf course and lively country club. It’s a great place for safely biking or walking with green spaces, tennis courts, playgrounds and dog parks nearby.
There are many owls, raptors, green parrots, purple martins and osprey overhead as we’re just a few blocks from the beautiful Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. - not to be missed!
The Pinellas Trail is just a short bike ride away too and can lead you to downtown. It is a cyclists favorite!

This property is home to a farm/nursery operation and has a large pond on the west side. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay.
Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites.
Property is home to a farm with hundreds of fruit trees- Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava). Red Mombin, and thousands of banana plants.
Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too.
Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand.
Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas.
The nursery has plenty of trees, and some fields -the large pond is surrounded by cattails and marsh/wetlands and has fish (Bass, Tilapia, Sunfish, Catfish).
Several species of wildlife have been seen on the property.

We will share our piece of paradise with you. It is 3 blocks (cross no main roads) to Shamrock Park and the Venetian Intercoastal Waterway with walk and bike trail, playground, tennis courts, basketball hoops and nature center plus restrooms at the park. Our quiet, safe neighborhood includes a boat ramp, a separate kayak launch as well as fishing spots along the intercoastal.
All 4 of the Venice beaches (including a dog beach) are within 7 miles of our location and are well known for finding shark teeth. Welcome to the Brainy & Footsy Beach Pad, a charming getaway nestled in the heart of Englewood FL near Dearborn st and Manasota Key. This Full hook up RV site is fully privacy fenced in, provides 50/30 amp power, and is less than 3 miles from the beaches of Manasota Key. Every convenience an RVer could ask for is within 10 minutes and many are walkable. Pets are welcome and will enjoy the oversized 90’ x 45’ lot. Plenty of parking for your tow vehicle and there is even a Ford dealership with Service department in walking distance. A featured walking path located across the street, nearby state parks and beaches. We are a full time traveling family and we created this RV lot to be everything we want when we stay here.

I live on an acre property I have free range chickens, enjoy some free eggs from them. I live in an rural neighborhood all my neighbors sit on at least a acre of property. At night there's deer that roam around the neighborhood. If you're looking for somewhere to stop on the way on your camping trip this is the place with full hookups. Can only accommodate RVs and travel trailers up to 34ft due to the turning radius into my front gate.

We had an amazing stay at Moonrise Palms! The site had everything we needed with water and electric hookups, and the setting was peaceful and beautiful! There is a picnic area with chairs as well. One of the absolute highlights was getting to feed the cows on the property. Such a fun experience for our whole family. They even provided a full barrel of hay for us, which made it extra special!
Melissa and Ryan were incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. You can really tell they care about their guests having a great experience.
We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Moonrise Palms to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway!

Wonderful, peaceful and tranquil few days hanging with the cows in the field afar! My 2 Boston Terriers and I enjoyed ourselves very much. Unfortunately it was unusually hot for March but we stayed cool under our camper's awning and inside our Runaway Rouser in the AC....a must anytime in Florida. There wasn't shade anywhere over the camping area so it would be very hot in the hotter months. A shaded area would be a great addition! Or sails over the existing area. Still, a very quiet, peaceful place.

Wow. My husband and I have been camping for many years, this was our first Hipcamp experience. We would definitely go back! From what I understand about Hipcamps, having a bathroom with a shower is more rare, and we couldn’t have stayed the month we did without it! It was soooooo handy. I would much rather stay at a place like Bells Oak Ranch than a crowded campground any day! The sites are so much more spacious than most campgrounds, you didn’t feel like neighbors were always looking over at you / onto your site as you’re crowded in together like at many camogrounds & the owner/people were so friendly. The horses and Wilson the peacock were a huge bonus. We have two dogs and it has a country feel out there and we loved being able to walk them a couple miles every day along a road that was not busy. I saw an eagle flying overhead the other day! A national Forest is not far away. And the Thursday morning farmers/flea market area was extensive and probably the best we’ve ever been to! Englewood is a great city with some great restaurants and having the beach just a couple miles away was amazing. Gasparilla Island about a half hour south is a must if you’re there more than a couple days. Gorgeous. Gorgeous beaches, would definitely stay again! Thank you, Beth and Taylor!

We loved camping at the ranch! We come to the area for the beautiful beaches and spring training games. It was quiet and peaceful — you’d never know you’re so close to the beaches, shopping restaurants, grocery stores, and the ballpark. The horses and peacock really added to the experience, and everyone was incredibly kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Our site had plenty of space for our Campervan, pop-up gazebo and more. We’ve already booked for next year and can’t wait to return!

I absolutely loved staying here. The location is ideal. Close to Anna Maria Island, but tucked away enough to be peaceful and quiet. It was the best of both worlds.
Several incredible restaurants were within walking distance, which made it easy to enjoy the area without constantly driving. The host was amazing and very responsive, and the property felt safe and calm throughout my stay.
I would definitely stay here again.

Terra Ceia Preserve State Park
Just 12 minutes north of Palmetto, sandwiched between Terra Ceia Bay and Tampa Bay, Terra Ceia Preserve State Park is a sanctuary for wildlife. Campers who love to birdwatch wil find blue herons, white ibis, bald eagles, and spoonbills. The park offers nine miles of hiking trails and year-round fishing (with a license) in Terra Ceia Bay. Magical and mysterious mangrove forests hang over creeks and streams, perfect for paddling through natural tunnels created by their drooping branches and rising roots. Bishop Harbor Road and Stotz Road feature boat, canoe, and kayak launches. There’s no camping within the park, but private campsites nearby have tent and RV campsites with hookups and potable water.
Lake Manatee State Park
Though there are no manatees in Lake Manatee, there’s still plenty of camping fun to be had at Lake Manatee State Park. Stay at tent and RV (up to 65 feet) campsites right in the park within walking distance to the beach where pets are welcome to join for sunbathing, swimming, and fishing from land. Campsites with water and electric hookups, a dump station, firepits, and picnic tables can be reserved online up to 11 months in advance. Bike along 2.5 miles of paved biking road, or take it off-road for a mountain biking challenge with bikes available to rent in the park. (Cyclists under 16 need to wear helmets.)
Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park
Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park’s claim to fame is a wealth of boating opportunities through Cocohatchee River estuaries leading directly to the Gulf. Explore Turkey Bay by kayak, canoe, or paddleboard, or search for shells on the ADA-accessible beaches with reservable wheelchairs. Or scuba dive and snorkel along Delnor-Wiggins Pass’ hard-bottom reef. Nearby campsites range from RV campsites with 50-amp hookups and wifi to primitive campsites.
When to go
October to March is generally considered camping season in Florida, when dense, muggy air cools in the evening for a more comfortable climate. Summers in Palmetto have an average daily temp above 86°F with hot and mostly cloudy skies. Short winters (from December to February) are cool and windy, rarely rising above 74°F. Florida camping is available year-round, and the ideal time depends on your preferences.
