Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, two Goats, a Duck and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

We have a nice little RV pad on the back of our coastal home. Situated on a little bayou that opens out into Choctawhatchee Bay. Crab Island is only a 10 minute boat ride away. You would have access to our small dock and there is a neighborhood boat ramp less than one hundred feet away. This is a great place for kayaks, wave runners, and small boats. If you don't have a boat, we can set up any kind of trip you want. We are all licensed captains and own multiple Crab Island businesses. So we can set up charters for you on the following boats: Sailing trip on a restored 1963 Pearson Ensign. Can accommodate up to 6 people. This is a classic sailboat that is easy to sail and easy to learn to sail. A restored 1966 Boston Whaler that is perfect for couples looking for a sunset cruise, etc. Can accommodate up to 6 people but it perfect for 2 -4. We can go to Crab Island, look for dolphins or find our own private island beach. Waverunner tours. We can take you on a guided wave runner tour looking for dolphins and private beaches. You will drive one wave runner while our licensed captain guided you on another one. Insurance does not allow us to rent these out solo but there are many good vendors in the area to do that. Inshore flats skiff targeting redfish and trout on light spinning gear and fly rods. This boat is best fished with no more than 3 people. Rates: $150 per hour for less than 3 hours $500 for half day (4 hours) $600 for 6 hours The neighborhood is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Fort Walton with large oaks and magnolias providing plenty of shade for bike riding and walking. Downtown Fort Walton with its shops and quaint restaurants is only a mile away. Didn't bring a bike, we have 2 you can use. During the summer, there are fireworks every Wednesday night that are viewable from this spot. The site comes with water/sewer and 30 Amp hookup. You will drive one wave runner while our licensed captain guided you on another one. Insurance does not allow us to rent these out solo but there are many good vendors in the area to do that. Inshore flats skiff targeting redfish and trout on light spinning gear and fly rods. This boat is best fished with no more than 3 people. We tent camped for 3 weeks in November and Dave was extremely accommodating for our 3 week stay in November. Don't skip the hot tub! For van lifer types this is an ideal location. Good cell reception and a quiet atmosphere. There were extremely few insects and the sunset over Mobile each night is a brilliant orange. We used the YMCA Express in Spanish Fort for showers, gym, infrared sauna, and as a coffeeshop. it has a table area with outlets for laptops. The day pass there is $10.

Dave is the perfect host and has a beautiful location. Sunsets are amazing every day. Easy pull through location and easy to hook up on flat ground. Dollar General is a mile away and it’s about a 15 minute trip to Walmart, grocery and fast food. I highly recommend Heart of the Country for anyone wanting a peaceful get away.

Malakai’s Campground is truly a hidden gem! The property is peaceful, secure, and beautifully maintained. Joe, the host, is a wonderful man—kind, hospitable, and always willing to lend a hand. You can tell he genuinely cares about making sure every guest has a great experience. I’m a local and ended up staying here two weekends in a row while my house was being used for Airbnb guests. Normally, I’d travel elsewhere, but this time I wanted to stay close to home—and I’m so glad I did. From now on, this will be my go-to spot whenever I want to unwind and enjoy something different from the usual beach life. Highly recommend this campground for a relaxing, memorable stay—and my two pups 🐶🐶 give it their full approval too!

Rae was a super host. Met us shortly after we set up and provided a booklet of things to do and eat in the area. Driveway is a little difficult to back into and sewer connection in under the camper but was a great place to spend the day/night. 30 amp electric worked great. I would not recommend for a large camper as our 26’ just fit. Would definitely stay again.

The campground was beautiful! The facilities were clean and all trail paths were trimmed with no debris! They had plenty of fire would for sale and a cart to use to carry your camping gear into your site! The bridge was a little tricky to maneuver with your cart but after a couple trips we figured out how to make it work with the cart! Fortunately, we were the only campers in the primitive and glamper tent site but the 5 glamper and primitive sites seem too close together and would maybe be too much if all are fully booked and especially with all the open land they have that could be used to spread the sites out a little more so people have more privacy. The hosts were great and very attentive! Will certainly go back again soon!!!
