Driving a short while on a dirt path leads into a nice area surrounded by many willow trees of the area, around a turn on the dirt path opens up to a large open area. The open area consists of fine soil, lots of dry grass during the winter and and a dry creek at the edge of the property. This area is great for camping and listed activities. The nearby town has much much more to do in nature featuring fishing, camping, horseback riding and hiking. The property is on the other side of the creek. Be careful of spiky ground plants. The owner was amazingly accommodating and switched us to blueberry camp which was very accessible! We will definitely be making a tradition of returning to yakalo! Just make sure you have 4 wheel drive and get there while it’s light out, the drive is a bit scary when people are speeding down the mountain. She also has water filters to drink the fresh underground spring water! 10/10 camping experience

It's a nice quiet spot off the beaten path. Dan is a great host. This isn't an RV park with full hook-ups or anything. But there's a nice view of the surrounding hills and a cattle pen with cows and some chickens. A great place to park and take a break for a night or two.

Great little spot to camp for a bit. Dan is a great guy and was very helpful to me when I had some issues with my rv. Dan went put of his way to be helpful and offer options for me to get my rig fixed. I will definitely return. The view is great. Spots are near the road, but it is quiet and lots of animals to keep you company and views to calm you.

We really enjoyed this campsite as it sits at the top of a bluff with amazing views and star gazing, it is a very quiet campground and the RV park close by was also very quiet. It has a nice clean bath house within a short walk. The campsite doesn't always have fire pits out, so you will want to check with the host if campfires are a possibility before you go. Host was responsive and helpful, and they provide a phone number for questions when you arrive at the site.

Sunsets and sunrises abound here with 360 views.

Joshua’s land was just what we were looking for. Extremely peaceful and a night sky that will blow your mind. We spent two nights here in our van and fell in love with the Spanish Peaks area. Do yourself a favor and pop over to Great Sand Dunes NP, about a 1.5 hour drive and worth every minute. Lots of cool old farming artifacts on the property too. Really enjoyed our stay, thanks Joshua!

We really enjoyed our time here! There are two separate areas at the site, each with a fire ring a spot for a tent. We fit our large 8-person tent on one side so we could use the other for food, fire, and sitting. Shade was great, and the spot was private. Weekend Trip to Yakalo Ranch

Really cool and beautiful spot, tucked back into the woods and the little stream running was such a beautiful background and our doggie loved drinking from it. I slept so well with that sound! One con, space is all on a pitch, our tent was at an angle. I don’t see how 8 people could fit in this spot.

Weekend Trip to JB Recreational Ranch

Lizards, beetles, rocks, bones, wild turkeys, the sounds of a flowing creek, and a night sky to make you feel so small. For the kids, this campsite had everything they needed for a weekend of grand memory-making. For the parents, you can sit back comfortably at the top of the hill, watch the kids as they wander the entire property, and take in the views of the Spanish Peaks. We love this area, but this site might be the best we've experienced.
