- Days in the summer can get pretty hot and shade is hard to come by, so plan a day trip to Florence river park, (about 30 minutes drive)and hop in the Arkansas river and cool off.

Remember To hook the bottom of the post first before hook in the top Of the gate It is easier that way Once you get to the watering trough You will be traveling Southwest on a pathway for vehicles You will come to a gateway Once you pass the gateway you will be back on private property From that gateway The prairie Oasis Is to your right The gateway is at the very most Southeast Corner of the property Everything South of that gateway Is someone else's private property. I hope you enjoy. Known wildlife in the area: Antelope, Coyotes, Jack rabbits, Tarantulas, Prairie dogs, Owls, Hawks, Prairie mice, Snakes, Including the prairie rattlesnake. But the chances of running into one of them would be rare. And because the rest of the property is unfenced There are occasionally cows roaming around freely. If you plan on building a fire You will have to bring your own wood. Be sure to put any fire out thoroughly. Have fun

Pristine little cabin. The wood smells so nice, even in the bathroom. Comfortable bed and seating area. The host provided water and we appreciated the heater too. There is lighting in the cabin and outhouse. We both agreed it felt a little uncomfortable having no curtains on the windows, but the view of the mountain in the morning (perfectly framed in the window) was gorgeous. It was very windy the night we stayed and this did cause the outhouse door to open and close and rattle around throughout the night. Just needs an outdoor latch to keep it still. Overall, we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

The propane fire pit, hammock, table with an umbrella and driving range were a lovely addition and the view was absolutely spectacular. Truly an A++ glamping experience! Highly recommended!!!

We really enjoyed this campsite as it sits at the top of a bluff with amazing views and star gazing, it is a very quiet campground and the RV park close by was also very quiet. It has a nice clean bath house within a short walk. The campsite doesn't always have fire pits out, so you will want to check with the host if campfires are a possibility before you go. Host was responsive and helpful, and they provide a phone number for questions when you arrive at the site.

This spot is really great for naturalists. The essence of the wild plains is here. In order to navigate around the property to find a good spot to set your tent, you will be driving on un-maintained two-track in sand -- if you don't know how to drive in sand do not try it. Rainy conditions would make these tracks too difficult and even if you could make it through you'd be making the ruts worse for others. Sometimes, the ruts are deep and occasionally the track goes over a water diversion berm -- if you have a high-clearance 4x4 but it has a long wheelbase, passing here may be impossible. The property is within ten or twenty miles of the Mountain Route of the Santa Fe Trail -- you can see the Spanish peaks to the west and you can see a prominent table mesa to the east, which is right next to Bent's Old Fort. I've heard you can see Raton Mesa from Bent's on a clear pressure-inversion day! Many burrowing owls, fox, coyotes, jackrabbits, bugs, and zero mosquitoes. We set tent on a lucky find high-ground sand patch next to the two-track, as, the bunchgrass prairie is too lumpy.

This camp site was prepared very thoughtfully and it made the trip very comfortable! Beautiful country, private campsite, gorgeous view right from the tent. We had no neighbors but even if we did, they were far enough off I don't think we would have felt crowded. From the cots with pads on top to the chairs to the bear rattle in the cave. We felt very safe, the road to the property had a locked gate. Josh responded to messages quickly, he was professional and kind! Excellent experience!
