The property is 4 miles from Hwy 9 on County Road 14. It is paved for the first 2 miles, followed by 2 miles of dirt road beyond the National Forest boundary. This private alpine meadow sits at approximately 11,000 feet, at the base of two 14,000-foot peaks, on 160 secluded acres bordering National Forest. The camp rests in a hidden sunken meadow surrounded by ancient forest, alpine streams, and some of the oldest living bristlecone pines in the world — trees so remarkable they have appeared in Ansel Adams photography.
At night, you may hear great horned owls in the trees, coyotes calling at sunset, and sometimes moose moving quietly through the meadow. During the day, the air smells of pine, summer grass, and cold mountain water. Sit beside the stream with your feet on warm granite while the wind moves through 3,000-year-old trees overhead. It is peaceful, wild, and difficult to describe until you are here.
The site is built for guests who want to disconnect from crowds and reconnect with nature without giving up comfort. Tucked into the meadow is a cozy insulated A-frame shelter with large windows, a skylight, soft solar lighting for nighttime ambiance, a locking door, and a full-size bed. It is simple, warm, secure, and comfortable — a perfect basecamp after exploring the high country.
From the property, you have access to miles of 4x4 roads, ATV trails, hiking routes, wildlife viewing, photography, stargazing, and quiet time by the stream. Spend the day hiking alpine ridges, exploring the forest, reading on the deck, or doing nothing at all.
Amenities include a wood deck, waterproof awning, picnic table, BBQ grill, bear box, oversized stone fire pit, and simple backcountry-style toilet setup.
Altitude note: this camp is around 11,000 feet, so guests should be prepared for high-elevation conditions, cooler nights, stronger sun, and changing mountain weather.

Thousand Peaks Ranch Campground in Hartsel has Scenic Mountains, is a getaway and a home away from home for many users. The campsites are best suited for tents and RV stops. Some of the campsites are close to stunning views and you can sleep every night to the sounds of coyotes and other animals. We are very close to many places where you can find a river to fish, take a walk in nature or take a quick dip in the cold waters.
Thousand Peaks Ranch Primitive Campground is a 40-acre site each with a table, fire pit and grill. There is a fee for its use and the stay limit is three weeks. We have well water to supply your shower and are located close to the center of the camp.
Thousand Peaks Ranch offers a group campsite with 8 separate group campsites. These sites vary in size:
Group sites 1, 2, and 7 ($40/ night) can accommodate between 10 and 25 people per site.
Group sites 3-6 ($80/night) can accommodate between 25 and 50 people per site.
Group Site 8 ($120/night) accommodates up to 75 people.
Each site is equipped with 1 or 2 picnic tables and a Fire Pit. There is a large field area in the center of these sites that can be used for group activities.
Please keep in mind that we are a primitive campground. We do not have hookups and cannot accommodate electrical needs. As this is a primitive campsite, we allow the use of generators.
Tent camping is permitted throughout most of the ranch. THIS IS NOT A STATE PROPERTY, However, IT IS A BLM BORDER PROPERTY. See below where we are located:

South Park City is an outside historic museum with 43 original furnished buildings and structures depicting an 1880s-era mining town. The buildings include a church, school, dentist/barber, doctor, coffin-maker, blacksmith, saloon, drug store, general store, homes, train engine and caboose, and other structures that portray life in an early gold mining town in the Colorado Rockies. We have 2 kids and 2 dogs that love running through the aspens, cedars, and pines.
There are 2 stocked fishing ponds in the neighborhood you're welcome to use. (Stocked in June usually).
Fire pit onsite as long asthe county doesn't have any fire restrictions.
You're welcome to drive onto the property to unload your camp gear but please park on the cul-de-sac.

This place is absolutely amazing and beautiful! It was the perfect glamping experience — peaceful, relaxing, and surrounded by nature, but with all the little comforts and extras that made it feel easy and special.
Tim is amazing and has truly bent over backwards to make this place perfect. You can tell he has put a ton of thought and effort into every detail, and everything we needed for our camping/glamping stay was already there. It made it so easy to just show up, relax, enjoy the outdoors, sit back by the fire, and take in the whole experience.
The property is beautiful, the atmosphere is incredible, and it was exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for. We will absolutely be back. If you're looking for a great camping or glamping spot, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!

This was the first time in my life I went on camping and Tim is the best. I didn’t know how to setup my tent .. he helped us and was so sweet throughout the stay. We can clearly make out that he isn’t doing this for money. It’s his passion.

The host at Pronghorn is very helpful and responsive. We had some difficulty finding the place, but that is because we did not follow the directions carefully enough. A map showing how to approach the campground would have been easier to remember after a long bicycle ride. Ask for a map to the place if you find remembering a map than remembering exact mileages.

Absolutely gorgeous site and gorgeous property. The views are stunning! Slightly windy but I enjoyed it. My tent stayed up fine and I was able to fly my kites! The views at night are incredible when the clouds clear out. So many stars!!!! Also a super close drive to lots of awesome activities.

Tim is an amazing host! He has included very thoughtful details at each site to make the stay easy and comfy and goes above and beyond as a host. He also is knowledgeable about the area so can provide tips about hiking/biking. I stayed at site A and it was spacious and private. Would definitely stay at Tim's place again and recommend if you're looking to stay near Breckenridge/Fairplay.

Amazing place. Extremely well-equipped, you won’t find a better mix of location and amenities provided. The Host was top notch and extremely receptive.
You are with miles of the best hikes, numerous 14s and 13s, fishing, FairPlay and even Breck. This is as good of a location for a comfortable base camp that you’ll ever find.
The yurt itself was clean, and perfectly loaded with everything you need, from cooking (little gas grill, cook water, utensils, propane) to water to a giant cooler, with ice packs provided.
I will definitely be returning.

We stayed for 4 nights and had everything we needed- electric, water, and sewer hook-ups, plus flush toilets and nice, clean showers just a short walk away. The location was perfect for us because we wanted to see Leadville, Twin Lakes, Independence Pass, and Buena Vista. Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch
We had a great time at Frenchman's Creek Ranch. The medium canvas tent site was a convenient and comfortable place to relax after a full day of riding motorcycles. There is lighting and a table inside the tent, wood Adirondack chairs on the tent platform, and some camp chairs that can be used inside or around the gas fire pit, which is a particularly nice touch during the ongoing county fire bans. The tent sites are located within a stand of mature Aspens and there is enough distance between the few sites to feel comfortable in your own space. The hosts were easy to work with and were super responsive to messages, yet unobtrusive during our stay. This is a working ranch and it was fun in the morning to hear the cows having some strong opinions about something. Overall, a great experience and just way better amenities than state or federal campgrounds, but without the crowding and institutional feel of true commercial campgrounds. Buena Vista is a short 10 minute drive away if you want to go do some shopping, dining or partake in activities. We spent a couple hours at Strange Craft Beer Company where we enjoyed great beer and live music in their beer garden. Would definitely stay here again.

There was a picnic table, 2 large jugs of water, and a dishwashing bucket with soap, a sponge, and some scrubbing brush all waiting for us in the bear box. He is an absolute all star host and would recommend staying at this hipcamp. Just be aware that it is not “car camping” and there is a short hike to each tent spot, but there are wagons you can use to do it in 1-2 trips depending on how much stuff. We had campsite D, and we had our 3 year old with us, so we had more stuff than usual. I wouldn’t recommend that site for families as it’s the highest one and the final section of the hike up is steep and can be dangerous in the rain. But when we got up it, it was a phenomenal time as a family. Again, would highly recommend this hipcamp and would camp there again, but with the expectation packing minimally is the way to go here.

Tim is very sweet and communicative and really wants people to have the best experience! He has a tub at every campsite w trash bags, a mallet for stakes, a broom and dustpan for sweeping out tents, etc
Good things to know: you do have to trek uphill to the campsites but Tim provides wagons to carry your things. Also make sure not to park on the L side of the garage on the property. T-mobile doesn’t have coverage in the area

We love this place! The hosts are welcoming, the bathrooms are nice and clean and the stars are endless.
The cows are always fun to see and the river is beautiful here.

Tim was extremely helpful and kind! He cares for his land and is warm and welcoming to share with others! He helped us pack our things to our site and provided recommendations of beautiful places to hike in the area. Also, I feel like it was a bargain to stay with him (he provided a table, flat area to post up a tent, some supplies like a mallet and trash bags and dish soap and also there’s a drop toilet on site). We brought our dog and she loved it too. Will definitely try to come here again!

2 nights at Placer Club
I took 2 of my buddies camping for their first time and couldn't have been happier with the site and hospitality of the host. The site has everything you need and has a great view of the surrounding mountains. You're not going to find glamping at this price anywhere else, so I feel very lucky to have found this spot. Cheers!
