This option is especially great since van/rv/trailer camping is not allowed on public streets or in public parking lots in the Town of Crested Butte. (Our spot is a great way to avoid the Marshal knocking on your window at 11 PM and asking you to move on. Yes it happens because we know the officers.) Gorgeous views, easy dog walks and a recreation path right nearby. Walking distance to downtown Crested Butte. Bikable to some of the best mountain biking in the USA. Available year-round, even in the deep snow. Nordic skiing right outside your door. Public transit nearby so you can get settled and leave your van/camper without all the pack up, unpack, leveling process. Local public transportation is great! Quiet dog-friendly neighborhood of locals. Sustainable! (Power is photovoltaic solar. 20 Amp. Not so well suited to AC units or electric heat) Trash, compost, recycling and potable water are available on site. Two blocks away is the CB dump station for sewer and non-potable/potable water except in winter months. A great spot to support evening and late night arrivals to avoid driving all over looking for a dispersed spot during busy times. Worry free! Easy walking distance to the Crested Butte Center for the Arts, Alpenglow (Mondays), Music on the Mountain (Wednesdays), Public House, wedding venues and other music venues, bars and nightlife. 1/2 a block from the Slate River and paddleboarding put-in. 1 block from Rainbow Park and playgrounds, soccer fields, etc. 2 blocks from the public/ski bus. Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

This was my first time car camping and it should be called “GLAMPING” because of all of the extra amenities! We loved the gas fire pit and string lights at our site. Having electricity and water at the site helped us stay warm in the car, as we plugged in 2 heated throws. Both Belinda and Todd greeted us separately and provided us with helpful information. We loved interacting with the farm animals, especially the Jacob Sheep and turkeys! The bathhouse was very clean. The shower was especially modern and nice to have during our stay. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

No Frills in the Cottonwoods was the perfect mix of remote and convenient. You can see the adorable highland cows, from the site and it’s also a short walk to the bathroom. Belinda introduced us to some animals and gave east instructions for exploring the ranch on foot. We walked down to the river for amazing views! Will definitely return.

Absolutely beautiful campsite. Hosts were very accommodating. The bathroom and shower were a huge plus for my mother who I took camping for the first time. We will definitely be back!

5 nights at Hoskin’s Place

Excellent place to stay within walking distance to town. Communicative hosts who quickly responded to any questions. Only caveat is that it’s not too far from the sewage treatment plant so we got occasional wafts of unpleasant smells. Didn’t last long but was noticeable. Still, I would stay here again for convenience and supportive hosts.

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

I recently spent an evening in the "No Frills" camping spot at the ranch with my 7 year-old son, and we had a sweet time. The natural setting, with beautiful woods bordering on pastures on a working ranch was beautiful. The property is clean, the camp spots are well spaced apart, and the bathroom facilities were nice & clean. Access to trails and river made for fun adventures. We'd definitely stay again.

Weekend Trip to Hoskin’s Place

Rens place was a wonderful stay! We were just a few minutes from mountain biking both days. We were also able to take a short bike ride (less than a mile) downtown for dinner. We couldn’t have asked for a better location! Ren and her family were very welcoming and great hosts. If you have dogs, it’s just a short walk from a path which we really appreciated!

We had such a wonderful stay at Frenchman Ranch in Buena Vista! Belinda and Todd’s property is absolutely beautiful, everywhere you look feels like a postcard. We found ourselves constantly stopping to take photos of the ranch, the vintage equipment, and of course the cows we got to watch every day. The animals added so much charm to our experience, handsome George (the pig) kept us company, and the sassy sheep strutted around like they owned the place (and honestly, we loved it). It felt like a true slice of Colorado ranch life. The location is also perfect, peaceful and scenic, yet just a short drive to downtown Buena Vista, where you can enjoy shops, dining, and the charm of town. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay, and we’re so grateful to Belinda and Todd for sharing their special property with us. Highly recommend!!!
