We pulled in late, and Andy was there to meet us and help us find the site in the dark. The site was clean, quiet, and level. We were there for a short time before an early flight in the morning, so we didn’t use the amenities, but it had a table and chairs, outhouse, and access to water. Great spot for anyone looking for a place to stay near the airport.

Well run commercial campground between Loveland & RMNP. Ours & most sites by us had just 50A & 20A electric. We were promised a 30A site so they lent us a converter (great staff esp maintenance guy). Water was great but pressure varied, next time we'll use their water to fill our tank then use our pump for consistent pressure. Sites were a little small but our 30' trailer fit easily. Some sites had big class A's & 5th wheels w/6 slide outs. Staff spread out campers so our neighboring sites were vacant half the week we were there. Beautiful perimeter trail along the river & nice dog park. Very quiet & friendly place, ~20 minutes to a Safeway in Loveland but still has that out-in-the-woods feel. 45 minutes to Estes Park & a bit under an hour to Rocky Mountain National Park. Lots of cabins & RV parks in this area but this one is back in the woods so no noise from US34.

Great host and some pretty killer views! Andy has worked hard at providing a lot for his guests. Outdoor furniture and shade canopies for tent campers and RVers too. We were headed west and wanted a one night stay near Denver. Worked out perfectly for us. Will stay here again if ever passing through.
FYI, there is a great grocery store in Bennett, King Soopers, where we could restock everything for our trip.

This was a great spot for the tail end of our trip as it was close/convenient for a quick morning drive to the airport! Andy was super kind and very responsive and helpful in getting us to the correct spot. He reached out in advance about our ETA and was willing to accommodate a late check in, which we didn’t end up needing, but the flexibility is appreciated! The campsite and portapotty was in pristine condition. The site included a patio table/chairs and little lights that stayed on through the night. The stars were so bright — wish we had more time to hangout here! Thanks for having us, Andy! :)

Great stay for solo female travelers! Andy was so sweet and met me by the road to help me find the place. The spot felt secluded and private but also close enough to his home for comfort. John's place is a perfect little spot. Quiet and peaceful next to a pond. We all camped over a weekend then my husband stayed a few more days while he finished a job in the area. The trailer was perfectly safe if he had to leave during the day. It was the perfect spot for peace and quiet after his work day.

Rocky Mountain National Park
With some of the most majestic mountain scenery, it’s no wonder National Geographic named Rocky Mountain National Park as one of its best trips in the world in 2014. Hipcampers can’t ask for a more picturesque setting for tent camping and RV sites, including full hookups. View wildlife around its 147 lakes and 355 miles of hiking trails, spotting elk, moose, and bighorn sheep along the way. Clear mountain skies, away from city lights, are exceptional for stargazing.
Cherry Creek State Park
A short drive outside of town, Cherry Creek State Park is minutes off the interstate but worlds away from the everyday. The close location makes it easily accessible for day-trippers and overnighters alike. Enjoy the convenience of hot showers and laundry facilities at Cherry Creek Campground, which features both RV park and walk-in tent camping options. There’s even wifi for posting adventures online. Rent a jet ski to race around Cherry Creek reservoir, or do some swimming, fishing, and cycling.
Chatfield State Park
Water activities are the name of the game at Chatfield State Park with boating, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding around the expansive Chatfield Reservoir. Bring out the bait and tackle to catch trout and bass for supper. For Hipcampers who prefer land, bird-watch along Plum Creek, and explore the 26 miles of hiking and biking trails. There are even opportunities to fly a model airplane in these foothills southwest of Denver. All four campgrounds have picnic tables and are walking distance to the lake.
When to go
Summer camping near Denver is best for campers looking to avoid the cold and get in the best fishing. It also happens to be the busiest season, especially with families. Plus, there are occasional surprise thunderstorms thanks to a phenomenon called the “Denver Cyclone.” For a more tranquil camping experience, visit during the shoulder seasons.
