4 nights at Rancho Monte Vista Pond SiteThis place is a hidden gem, I almost want to keep it a secret, it's that good! But Ryan deserves a great review and anyone considering coming here needs to know about some very important specifics as well. This was our second time staying at the pond and we came prepared. First, and most importantly, you will need 120ft of extension cords if you want to hook up power to your trailer/RV, van, etc. The location of the outlets are over 100ft away from the optimal spot to camp, and I don't recommend using a generator, it's way too peaceful and quiet for that kind of noise. Luckily if you have the cords, there is a 50A, 30A and 20A outlet on the power pole, plenty of power to run your A/C. There is good shade provided by one of the trees, and the pond is big enough to swim and fish in. The cool water really helps in the hot summer sun. There's lots of wildlife around, cows, rabbits, bullfrogs, birds, the occasional snake, etc. And although it's on the edge of a working citrus orchard, you have plenty of privacy, albeit the occasional 4x4 and workers passing by once or twice a day. Ryan's a great host, very accommodating and quick to respond and communicate. He even let us use the WiFi from the nearby home, which you'll need, because there is zero cell phone service anywhere in the area, it's about a 20min drive to get service. Overall it's a perfect place to relax and get away, but close enough to the Sequoias it make a great base camp to explore from. Five stars all around!!
