CA Road Trip | 1 night stopover
First of all, the location and setting are wonderful, unique and beautiful. We loved our time here (only stayed one night), but the site I booked (Tent Site #1) was double-booked, so when I arrived, another family was already in my site. I booked on HipCamp, and the other family booked on a different platform. I reserved site #1 purposefully, so I wouldn't have any neighbors on one side of me (the sites are very small and on top of each other). Fortunately, another site was available for me to set up camp, but it was disappointing not to get the site I specifically selected. While we were there, only one bathroom was operational for the entire facility (one toilet), so there was always a line. I was really excited to take a shower, as we were coming from Furnace Creek in Death Valley (no showers), but I felt too guilty taking up the only toilet in the campground to shower (shower/toilet was in one portable bathroom together), so I opted not to.
I still recommend this location, as we loved all the amenities (dishwashing sink, kayaks/paddle boards etc.) the view of the mountains, the sounds of all the frogs, the beautiful sky and pond, and the swinging bridge. We had never stayed at a place quite like it, and it's a great "overnight" road trip location. Hopefully, others don't have the same booking/toilet experience we did.
