We had a wonderful stay at this RV park on Lake Olancha. What really stood out was how peaceful and secluded it felt—it never got too busy, which made it easy to truly relax and enjoy the surroundings. One of our favorite perks was the easy, no-hassle access to boats and paddleboards. Being able to grab them anytime without needing to sign up or check in made the experience feel effortless and fun. Our twin 7-year-old boys especially loved exploring the area, and spotting frogs at night quickly became a highlight of the trip. The location is also a big plus. It’s just a short drive to Lone Pine, with great access to hiking and the Alabama Foothills, making it a perfect base for outdoor adventures. The office staff and host were warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. And a small but important detail—the WiFi actually worked well, which is always appreciated when you’re on the road. A couple of areas could use some improvement: the dock areas feel a bit outdated, and the zip line was unfortunately out of service during our visit. That said, these didn’t take away too much from an otherwise serene and enjoyable experience. Overall, a peaceful, family-friendly spot that we’d happily return to.

Fix the bathroom please

Fix the bathroom for the tent side. There’s one bathroom with a shower. So if you need to use the bathroom quickly and someone is in the shower ur out of luck. Should’ve had less tents bigger section to camp.

Camping with the birds!

Olancha Campground was easy to find and pull into our spot. After long days visiting Death Valley it was great to get back to the campground and play in the lake and walk around its perimeter. We saw lots of birds visiting the oasis including yellow headed black birds, road runners, and lots and lots of coots!

Great last minute grab!

Great last minute stop! Wonderful views, full hookups and plenty of amazing places to sit outside (shade and sun) also the paddle boards and kayaks were a great touch! Would recommend! Nacho is also very welcoming and escorted us to our spot!

Great spot for its price!

This campsite was great! Clean bathroom and shower! For the price I was more than happy with the quality of the campsite. Biggest downside is being 2 hours from Furnace Creek/Visitors Center. It currently only has one bathroom which is a bit tough with many other campers but he’s about to install another one! Campsites are a bit closer together but I personally find that really comforting. The Lake, BBQ’s, dock spaces were awesome! Was so kind and swift to responding to any messages and kept the bathroom very clean! You are allowed to use any of the kayaking and paddle boarding equipment and BBQs with propane already there! Great for the price but still in need of some campsite work. Other than that Nacho is super kind and has an awesome campground in the making! Thank you Nacho!

We loved this site! We camped and were able to enjoy all of the amenities including boats, kayaks, paddle boards, and a tennis court. There is also good service, outlets, wifi and grills. Would definitely come here again

Relaxing Getaway

I had the wonderful opportunity to tent camp here in Lake Olancha with 9 of my friends! We rented three sites and had enough room for all of our tents, cars, and cook stove set ups! This is an amazing location as you can easily drive to Death Valley early to beat the heat and come back to a serene lake to cool off in! I would absolutely recommend staying here!

I loved this campsite because we could choose to have a lake view or not and the bathroom/shower wasn’t too far away. Also, the campsite had a picnic table and a spot for campfire which is allowed and the dock was close so I really enjoyed sitting there watching the ducks fish for food.

Camping for a night.

The campground was very peaceful. Nacho assisted me in getting a spot closer to the restroom. The tent campsites are a it close together but the tv ones are more spacious. They have gas grills and areas to hag out near the small pond. I enjoyed grilling my dinner and eating as the sun went down.

Death Valley Gateway Tent Site #5

The amenities along were really nice. But the campsites themselves were narrow, and the boundaries were made up of the fire pit and picnic table. This made determining which fire pit and table belonged to which site, as they were on either side of the site. It also meant half the table encroached into the neighboring site. The bathroom was well kept, but there is only the one shared toilet/shower combo for the whole site. So if somebody was taking a shower, you were out of luck if you needed to use the toilet.

Stayed here with my small trailer and it was a great experience. Staff were super friendly and the views were great. Water and power easily accessible at the site and the grounds were well maintained and clean. Alabama hills isn’t too far of a drive if you want to get some hiking in and if you want to get to Death Valley it’s about an hour to an hour and a half. Took me 2ish hours to reach bad water basin which is deep in the park but there are closer attractions within the park. Over great experience even if you just want a place to rest and relax.

Awesome views and dark night sky. It was great to have a gas bbq range. Campsites are really close together. Only one bathroom. The “lake” is small and water depleted. The camp ground hosts were very nice.

Lakeside RV Site #10 Furnace Creek

Such a great place to visit. I went in a camper and stayed in site #10. The site was clean and super quiet and peaceful. We used the paddle boards to go in the lake. My dogs enjoyed the lake as well. No one bothers you. You have an amazing view of the mountains and it’s just beautiful. Full hookups so that was a super plus. I definitely plan on going back soon. Must visit this site when you have a chance!

Great location between the eastern sierras and Death Valley. Easy to access from the road. The campsites were a little close together but overall great! And great communication from Nacho.

Camp site was clean had a cute little pond to walk around. We also played on the tennis courts (they provided tennis raquets and balls). We made a day trek to death valley national park, which took about 2 hours from the site. The camp site was nice because it was quiet and not super busy. We took our two kids and 2 dogs, everyone had a great time!

We stayed at olancha over christmas weekend we arrived late however our spot was waiting for us when we arrived hook up were well marked and easily accessible. Camp ground was clean lake was clean and nacho was great at maintaining bathrooms and roads during the heavy rain. Views were simply amazing and nights so quiet

Post-Thanksgiving Camping Trip

This was mine and my husband’s first time camping at Lake Olancha and we will definitely be back! The host Nacho was very good at communicating and making us feel welcome and comfortable. We camped at tent site #2 and it had a great view of the lake and mountains along with a picnic table, fire pit and electrical stations on for sides of the tent for charging. It was practically snowing late at night but we were able to plug in our heater so our tent was nice and cozy when we were in there. It was so enjoyable in fact, we originally only booked 2 nights but ended up staying a 3rd night bc we didn’t want to leave lol there is only one public restroom but to our surprise we never had to wait to use it. The water for the shower was hot there was a heater and the toilet paper was always stocked. For the price you really cannot beat the experience and I would definitely recommend to stay here if you’re considering it!
