I had a great time celebrating my birthday at this campground. Jeremy is an awesome host. The views are beautiful and the lake is the perfect temperature for swimming. The campground was super quiet and relaxing. There was plenty of space for a large group!

We so enjoyed the painted tent, a spacious and private site. Plenty of shade trees. The hosts were a pleasure to chat with and make you feel welcome. The road in is steep but well graded and was no problem for our VW van. The lake is beautiful and cool. The shoreline is rocky, have good water shoes. The animals are welcoming and the eggs appreciated.

1 night at Camp Electra

Camp Electra is the perfect place to hhangout after a day exploring in and around Mokelumne Hill. Your host, Ryan, has built an incredible outdoor bath house with a hot shower and a tankless toilet. The VW van makes for an easy accommodation and night outside under the stars. If you're looking for a place with a communal feel definitely checkout Camp Electra! We enjoy hanging out with Ryan's two friendly dogs, too. Pro-tip: Ryan has a second VW van available that he can drive down to the site for a little more room for groups or kids (Available as an "extra" during the booking process on Hipcamp)

We loved staying here! The lake was beautiful, bathroom were clean, and we loved the animals and got a visit from one of the dogs. I would recommend checking the temp for the time of the year just because it was pretty hot when we went but it made the lake perfect! Would definitely recommend staying here.

We arrived at the Ranch later in the afternoon, and navigating the large fifth-wheel trailer onto the property proved a bit challenging. The turn into the entrance is somewhat tight, and entering the gate code would have temporarily blocked the street—something to keep in mind for future guests. The property itself is stunning—peaceful, scenic, and beautifully maintained. Unfortunately, due to our late arrival and early departure the next morning, we didn’t have the opportunity to explore the common areas. It was a real treat to let the dogs roam freely after a long day on the road. They thoroughly enjoyed the open space, though it’s worth noting that there are some foxtails and burrs around, which can easily get caught in their coats—something to be mindful of. The sunset was absolutely breathtaking. There was a gathering at a neighboring facility that evening, and while we could hear their music softly in the distance, it added a pleasant, festive undertone to the quiet night. Later, the sound of coyotes calling under the stars brought a touch of wild charm, followed by roosters crowing at dawn—a true country experience. Though our stay was brief and we didn’t have the chance to meet Matt, we thoroughly appreciated the serene atmosphere and would gladly return for a longer visit in the future.

First I want to say that the owner of this camp site is amazing! She went above and beyond to ensure our tent stayed in place outside. The location is perfect for those that want to get away and enjoy tranquility. It is very peaceful and clean. There is ample space to camp and there are even farm animals on the site that are loving and friendly. Keep in mind that the shower is outdoors but other than that the location is perfect for those visiting locally in Tuolumne county and Yosemite. I absolutely plan on staying here again in the future. Thank you, Peggy for making our experience great.

Stayed here for a weekend getaway with a large group and had a great experience. Jeremy is a super chill and helpful host, he made us feel welcome right away. The campsite has a relaxed, open feel with friendly horses and chickens wandering around, which added to the charm. Jeremy even offer free-range eggs from their chickens, such a cool little perk to start the day. There’s a clean portable toilet on-site (huge plus), and everything felt well taken care of. Just a heads up: the trail to get down to the actual camp site a little tricky if you don’t have a 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle. One of us made it in a regular car, but it took a little patience, go slow and steady and you’ll be fine. The lake is nearby, but it’s a pretty steep hike down and back up. Totally manageable, just be ready for some uphill effort on the return. That said, it’s peaceful and worth the trek if you’re up for it. If you’re looking for a quiet, nature-filled spot with some farm fun and don’t mind a bit of a climb (and maybe a bumpy ride in), this place is a hidden gem.

3 nights at The Painted Lake

We had a wonderful camping trip here! We loved the views and all the animals! Gathering eggs, the baby animals and showering outside were highlights. Jeremy was even kind enough to jump our friend’s truck when it wouldn’t start on the way out. Thanks for all the great memories!

3 nights at Unplug for nature, dogs, and kids

Michelle and Steven were so easy to communicate with and very responsive. We loved hearing the birds' songs in the morning light and falling asleep to the stars. We brought tents for outside sleeping as well. But the comfort of the bed in the cabin was much appreciated! There are so many games available and a great fire pit with seating. The outdoor shower is awesome! And the kitchen is more stocked than many rentals we've stayed in. I'd say that the cabin/property was just a bit closer to the road than I expected, but it didn't really bother us. And there are visible other houses/properties fairly close by. Again, was not an issue for us, but just wasn't expecting that. The property is peaceful and beautiful. Thanks for being so accommodating Michelle and Steven!

I absolutely loved tent camping here! The place is stunning and super well-maintained. I got there an hour before sunset, and it was breathtaking! The golden sun rays streaming from behind the hill were amazing. I set up my tent and just chilled, soaking in the clear sky. Woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and the sunrise peeking over the other hill!

Throughly enjoyed camping here! The campsite was equipped with a gas fire pit, a restroom/sink nearby. The host, Jeremy, was incredibly kind and helpful with anything we needed. It was awesome he also had kayaks available for the campers to take out on the lake! Would defintely recommend this spot!

The Rainbow Junction offers a unique camping experience at the intersection of Mines Road and HWY 130 in the San Antonio Valley. We operate a restaurant and we offer camping friendly meals for guests. We love the wildness of this property and do not allow cars or vehicles beyond the parking lot. All of our sites are hike in sites. It's about a 1/4 mile hike on a small foot path. We have a wagon available for guests to use and we are happy to help you carry your things. We host a communal fire pit in the evenings, weather permitting, for all guests to enjoy, we do not allow open fires on the property. Cal Fire has requested that all campers get a permit, even to operate a gas stove. The permit is free and takes just a few minutes. https://permit.preventwildfiresca.org/ Please pack your trash, food scraps can be place in our compost but please be prepared to take all other items with you when you leave. Our swimming pond is about a 3/4 mile hike through brush from the restaurant but is a great way to beat the heat during the day! Campsites have a picnic table. A dry toilet is a short walk from campsites and we equip sites with a water dispenser and a sealed container for trash. Water from our well is always available outside of the restaurant and bathrooms with running water are available during business hours. There is a fire trail along one of our ridge lines that offers stunning views of the San Antonio Valley as well as our abundant wildlife. We sometimes host speakers and educational workshops and guests are always welcome to participate in events. Campers, trailers, RVs and Vans are welcome to stay in our lot but we currently do not have hookups available. Have a large group? We are happy to reserve group sites.
