Situated on 16 acres, Bear Creek meanders through the property alongside meadows and fir groves. A flush toilet and running water make camping comfortable. Chemise Mountain Retreat is a place where families and or groups can create intimate, unique , accessible experiences with the wilderness and the ocean. Trailheads leading to 62 miles of the world-renowned hiking/biking trails of California’s Lost Coast are within walking distance. To the south are Sinkyone Wilderness trails where herds of Roosevelt Elk graze on the grasslands uplifted from the Pacific. To the north, the Lost Coast Trail follows spectacular black sand beaches and crosses creeks that tumble down to the ocean. Restaurants, beachcombing, fishing, kayaking and surfing are minutes away. Magnificent clear night skies are pierced by thousands of brightly twinkling stars. Full moons are so bright that you can read by their light. Abundant wildlife from birds to bears to salamanders all inhabit the forests surrounding Chemise Mountain Retreat. Weekend Trip to Bigfoot’s Coastal Hideaway
The host was incredibly kind and easy to get a hold of. Our site was a bit smaller than expected (we have a 100lbs dog) and she let us move to a larger site. Everything was clean, porta potties were spotless, and having firewood sold there definitely lightened our load when packing. As for the wood chips- they definitely aren’t flammable. Trust me, I tried using them as kindling and it wouldn’t lite so no worries on that. The wood chips actually gave the site a very clean feeling. The trails are short, and it’s definitely the type of site to hang out and relax. There were a TON of banana slugs which was awesome and the property was less than 10 mins from the town that has an outdoor store in case you forget a blanket like we did! Loved it here, will be coming back!

Well, we actually got lucky and noone else was camping there besides the host’s family and we were allowed to choose any campground. It was dark when we arrived so we went with the recommendation of Emerald Triangle, which was nice and spacious, potable water was right next to the campsite which was convienient. Shower was pretty clean, good water pressure, took a while for it to get hot but it did. Wifi was available by the main house. And the best part my pups got to roam around freely. We stayed only a night. We walked down the creek in the morning as well which was so pretty. I’d stay again.

Great location! Jug Handle Beach is just a short walk across PCH. The campground has well maintained and clean bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks. Private camp sites surrounded by forest. I can’t wait to come back and stay longer.

The cabins were super clean and cozy, completely surrounded by trees and tons of sun. I thought it was really cool that they run fully on solar power but still have electricity and wifi so you really do get the best of both worlds. The hosts were so kind and they even left snacks in the cabin, which was so sweet. Bathrooms and showers were impressively spotless and fully functional too. The entrance road is a little rough, but once you’re in, it’s so pretty, peaceful and serene, you won’t even mind the ride up. P.S. I had no clue what a “Ganjier” was when I booked, did a quick Google later and was a little surprised, given I had my younger sister with me lol.

We tent camped here at Grassy Camp. The kids had fun on the tire swing. It was close to portable potty and the shower. Other campers weren't too close, but the ones we did encounter were friendly. Heather is also friendly and they all were helpful! I definitely would camp here again!

1 night at Bigfoot’s Coastal Hideaway
I booked this trip last minute and they were open and communicated very well. It was very quiet and rustic. The bathrooms were portos but they were very clean. The issues I have are that I was told to follow signs but there were none. They said that I could upgrade my camp site since it was my birthday but when I got there the camp host wasn't there and their associates did not know anything about it. My camp site wasn't labeled like I was told so I had to guess which one was mine. They allow camp fires but filled the camping areas with very flammable wood chips right up to the fire pit which was an old washing machine basin straight on the ground. I know they were flammable because after I cleared a space around the pit I used some to start my fire. They went up like, well, woodchips. I bought firewood but did not use it all because even tho I cleared a space around the fire pit the fact that a wandering spark could kill me and burn everything down kept me from enjoying my fire. I wanted to leave a good review because they were super nice but it just seems unsafe.

Excellent place. Very clean and nice surroundings. Beautiful trails. We enjoyed the group camp site. The tables and campfire rings were in nice condition. The sink is nice but could be made more functional with a couple tweaks. Due to ground erosion it’s very high and could use a small boardwalk around it.

We had a great time in the #11 sunny group campsite! There were plenty of picnic tables and two fire rings for our group to enjoy. The sink with potable water and new bathrooms were very nice! We saw a mountain lion and a skunk in our camp, as well as turkeys, Osprey and other little critters nearby. We really enjoyed the hiking trails down to the beach! Will definitely be back!

The redwoods all around camp were beautiful, what an amazing location. The staff were kind and helpful and visiting Fort Brag and the beaches was so convenient because of how close this campground was to the coast and stores. I stayed at one of the walk in campsites and loved the peace and privacy. The fire rings were perfect for reflecting during the night and when I wanted to stay at the campground for the day the trails and Creek access were perfect. The only feedback I would give is the have a map with the campgrounds and trails.

Loved it! It was only a short hike down (maybe .1-.2 miles) to a beautiful spot called the Hideaway. You were close enough to hear the creek and far enough from the other sites to have privacy and feel like you were getting away. Really nice alternative to car camping! I just brought a cart and a backpack and was able to carry things efficiently. It had a Firepit and they came and delivered wood purchased from the host. I highly recommend this spot!

Our family of 18 enjoyed the campsite #11. Very spacious and private. The kitchen area was a plus. Made it easy to prepare meals. Loved the added flushing toilet. They were well-maintained and clean. Hiking to the beach was about 10-15 minutes. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place.

Heathers land is like an oasis in the middle of town. We tent camped at the walk in site right by the babbling brook. It was isolated and quiet even with other campers around. There are convenient portapotties around the property and also a shower that we did not use. I had booked a fire pit but its not possible to take those to the walk-in site but the camp host offered us a portable bbq to be able to make fire, which worked out perfect.

The beauty of the area and the Redwoods are amazing. Bonnie was super nice and our stay was peaceful. The facilities were what we expected. The site is off the beaten path which makes it even more amazing. We took a long walk on the road.
