Came here to de stress from work. The peaceful environment surrounded with lush greenery and the sound of rain definitely helped. Highly recommend this retreat, especially with a short commute from South Bay. The host, Naomi, is very kind and welcoming and left a parting gift of pineapple guavas for my trip back home.

Weekend Trip to May's Luxury Farmstays

Absolutely WONDERFUL STAY! The location is a four minute drive to castle rock state park, the house is stocked with everything you may need including a full bar, seltzers and sodas, FRESH EGGS, and snacks (just bring your favorite creamer and bread for the perfect breakfast each morning)! Our favorite part of the trip was the tub outside overlooking the lake that can be swam in along with their friendly fur animals that you can feed! Highly recommend and hope to be back!

My friend and I loved our time in this beautiful beautiful space. It's serene and quiet and so lovely. Its really conveniently located — feels peaceful and removed but close to many of the places we wanted to visit (downtown Santa Cruz, point lobos, and Carmel). The outside kitchen was super cute to enjoy breakfast and dinner. And they have the cutest Alpacas!!!!!! That truly made our stay. The room was comfortable as well! The host was lovely and accommodating! We felt pretty taken care off! It was an overall great time!

The Haven is a peaceful, cozy gem (and a convenient for getting to the Soquel MTB trails). Naomi warmly welcomed me and my partner when we arrived and then we had plenty of privacy. The outdoor kitchen is absolutely delightful, the bedroom is comfortable and the bathroom is clean. Watching the sunset over the trees in the valley while winding down with a cup of tea was heavenly. Would absolutely return!

Naomi was a very kind and welcoming host. My wife and I enjoyed the location of the property - less than 15min from downtown Santa Cruz, but it felt very private and peaceful. The outdoor kitchen was very well built out, and we were able to use it for multiple meals. Worth noting that the HipCamp butts right up against the hosts’ house - though the windows were covered for privacy.

What a wonderful and relaxing experience. Forget to bring something… no worries this place has you covered! Amenities galore for a perfect glamping trip😁 perfect getaway from the city. Cozy pond with beautiful array of colorful fish. The hosts were delightful and welcoming. Loved the fun and friendly roosters, geese, ducks, and chickens. We will definitely be back again soon.

We loved the true “Zen” of this site! It was an amazing little area that has EVERYTHING and so much more than we imagined. The kitchenette was BEAUTIFUL. The room was cute, quiet, and comfortable. Loved our stay, everything was perfect. A beautiful, quiet and clean place, surrounded by nature, thoughtful touches and gentle animals. We treated ourselves to a massage outside, which was phenomenal. Enjoyed the outdoor shower and the tub outside and the infrared sauna. The outdoor kitchen was beautiful. I loved staying here! The land was beautiful and the accommodations were comfortable and clean. The bedroom was cute and stayed cool, despite the heat wave while we visited. The towels and sheets were extremely soft too. There were lots of thoughtful touches- as the host kindly got us cream for our coffee, nice vanity mirrors in the bedroom and bathroom, and comfy chairs to sit in outside. We also loved the outdoor shower! I highly recommend staying here. It was a peaceful and restorative experience.

Where to go

The Monterey Peninsula

Just south of Seaside, the Monterey Peninsula offers tons to see and do, from taking a scenic seafront drive to visiting Point Pinos Lighthouse, which dates back to 1855. Don't miss Carmel at the southern end of the peninsula, where you can tour an 18th-century mission or simply stroll around town checking out its famously quirky storybook houses.

The San Francisco Peninsula

North of Seaside, the San Francisco Peninsula features a mix of sandy and rocky beaches and a whole lot of redwood trees. This area makes for a great hiking day trip from Seaside, though you may want to stick around to set up camp in one of the many inland state parks.

California's Central Coast

Stretching south from Monterey Bay until the southern end of Ventura County, California's Central Coast is known for gorgeous beaches—many of which have year-round campgrounds—along with some of the state's most lauded wine-growing areas. The Big Sur coast, a short drive south, offers some of the finest views in the region along with dense forests full of hiking trails and camping spots.

When to go

Like Monterey, Seaside has a mild climate and gets a lot of visitors throughout the year. Summer weekends are particularly busy, as is the third full weekend of September, when the annual Monterey Jazz Festival brings tens of thousands of visitors to the area. Come in winter to see migratory whales make their annual journey past Seaside's shores.
