You will be in gold country where you can still find gold in the creek to this day! If you're lucky, you might find a nugget, but there's mostly pickers and fines.
The nights are absolutely stunning for viewing the stars with no light pollution. You will have almost complete privacy, with the exception of an occasional over head aircraft. I have only one group at a time.

We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe!
In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground.

Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away.
Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets.
Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks.
Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

The private back patio is huge and is a perfect place to relax, bbq, sit under the trees and enjoy a glass of wine. There are even outdoor Bluetooth speakers to enjoy your favorite music! The bedroom has a new queen bed and a large closet to store your belongings. Nestled on a half acre, the rustic yard welcomes lots of deer and wildlife. In the fall and spring enjoy the outdoor fire pit with a relaxing bench swing. You will enjoy your stay and get some much needed peace and quiet in this cozy mountain hideaway!
We are pet friendly & happy to host your favorite house-trained 4-legged friend, (just 1 please) for an addl $50 pet fee. You will need to let us know if you have a dog when you book. Dog food and food/water bowls provided.

In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away.
Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets.
Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks.
Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

The bedroom has a new queen bed and a large closet to store your belongings. Nestled on a half acre, the rustic yard welcomes lots of deer and wildlife. In the fall and spring enjoy the outdoor fire pit with a relaxing bench swing. You will enjoy your stay and get some much needed peace and quiet in this cozy mountain hideaway!

The remote, rustic feel of the grounds combined with the luxury of a handcrafted bungalow was truly unique. The panorama of the lake through mature oak trees was magical. The kayaks and privacy of the lake made this a one of a kind opportunity. We had such a wonderful stay at the Super View Cabin! One of our favorite parts was all the animals—especially the baby lambs, which made the experience feel extra special.
The walk down to the lake is definitely steep on the way down and a total calf-burner on the way back up, but it’s absolutely worth it. The views and peaceful setting make the effort pay off.
This place was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind. I’m a big sunrise person, and the sunrise here completely made the trip for me—just beautiful.
We’d absolutely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable getaway!

Super View cabin was one of the best, most gorgeous HipCamps I have experienced! A very welcoming environment on a wooded hillside with a variety of friendly animals (horses, baby goats, dogs, sheep, chickens) and kayaking on a crystal clear lake. This place is like a storybook of my dreams — the experience of a lifetime!

Weekend Trip to Sage
Sage Cabin and the property is a peaceful place, perfect to unwind. After three days, my body felt like I had a 90 minute massage and my mind was calm.
The highlights are the hot shower next to the cabin, the hot tub 10 feet away, and a gourmet kitchen 30 feet away. This is centered around a huge fire pit area.
The room has a heater, towels sheets and a nice cozy blanket for the lower and upper bed, dresser, light and electric outlets. WiFi is available.
The host Bobby was kind, friendly and onsite if we needed anything. His dog Tanner provided great entertainment with his playful but obedient demeanor.
The town of Pioneer is 5 minutes drive with groceries and almost anything you might need away from home.
I highly recommend the Sage cabin if you’re looking for a relaxing place to stay or just passing through on your way to Kirkwood or Tahoe.

Weekend Trip to Gold Wall Ranch & Vineyard
Michele and Patrick were amazing hosts!
We had a welcome ride on the train out to the vista where we could see the property, the nearby New Melones Lake and amazing views up into the Sierras and Yosemite Valley! From arrival all the way through our stay - our hosts were communicative and helpful and made every accommodation to ensure we were safe, comfortable and welcome. We look forward to visiting again in the future and appreciate the memorable stay we had here this spring! Thanks again!

Beautiful, fun, great hospitality. Amazing spot for animal lovers! Jeremy is a super kind guy and great communicator. Lake access is killer, but solid incline on the hike back up to campsites. Might keep in mind for groups with accessibility needs, but otherwise a nice amount of exercise! Everything was as described or better. Highly recommend!

We loved everything: the grounds themselves, the opportunity to see the animals, the incredibly affectionate dogs, and the really cool restrooms (!). The kitchen in the barn was also very romantic! However, we didn't like that everything was so spread out; we had to constantly trek back and forth between the campfire pit, the house, the restroom, and the kitchen.
Also, once it got dark—while we were grilling chicken—the dogs kept coming around; it was uncomfortable having to shoo away such huge hounds, and eventually, they even started fighting right next to us.
It's a pity there's only one bed in the house—maybe we could bring in a folding cot or something similar?

2 nights at Cosumnes River Ranch
This was my second time at the cabin and I feel even more in love with it and the property. Highly recommend, my only hesitation in writing that is I don’t want the masses to know so the serenity of the land stays as is. Thank you!

This spot was a real treat! Kind of the best of both worlds---a very comfy indoor bed, but otherwise an enjoyable space to be outdoors cooking, soaking in the hot tub, or taking in the rolling hills.

Weekend Trip to Gold Wall Ranch & Vineyard
We had a lovely weekend at the Gold Wall Ranch. Michelle and Patrick were lovely hosts, we even got to see Patrick's band play at the local wine shop. The views were incredible and we got to see some beautiful wild life like deers and owls and the property is very well located to explore the cute towns of Jamestown, Sonora, as well as Lake New Mellones and Lake Don Pedro. We were the first guests of the season so the common grilling area wasn't quite ready for use yet, but we were still able to use our own cooking gear in the space.

Weekend Trip to Wondernut Farm
We had an amazing stay at Wondernut. Matt and Eve were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and they truly made us feel at home. Having spent most of our lives in the city, this experience was especially inspiring. It felt like we were really living on a farm.
We saw many goats and their kids, along with pigs and chickens. Their guardian dogs were also very friendly and added to the charm of the place.
We highly recommend Wondernut, and thank you, Matt and Eve, for such a memorable weekend.

Everything here was really cool! Bobby was a great host and was very helpful. The cooking area was well stocked with lots of spices and ingredients. The cabin was very cozy and perfect for glamping. The shower facilities were nice and stocked. Also, Tanner (Bobby’s 2yr old Labrador) was an amazing Co-Host. There was also a little meditation area that was a nice place to sit at night with the string lights outside.

We had a short but incredibly sweet stay! The views were absolutely beautiful, and waking up to the lake each morning was such a peaceful experience. The small hike down to the lake was beautiful and totally worth it.
The animals on the property were honestly the best part — plus we loved getting some extra affection from the resident pup.
We even grabbed a few eggs for the road. Everything was wonderful from start to finish, and when we lost power, it was restored so quickly.
Jeremy, our Hipcamp host, was super friendly and accommodating and had great recommendations for the area, which made the trip even better.
10/10 stay — we would absolutely come back and highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable getaway.
