Trank Family Farm and Gold site

4 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents20 acres · Oroville, CA
We have lived on the farm now for over 19 years. The back part of the property was a stop point for the stage line between Oroville and Bangor during the 1880, Then gold was discovered on the property. There were multiple Gold claims on this property. The Old rock pilings are still there to explore. It is a favorite spot for finding Jasper, Agates and quartz crystals Campers are welcome year-round to this tent site on the old Gold Claim of our 20-acre family farm! Drive right up to this fun-filled, family-friendly campsite, easily accessible by cars and SUVs alike - though 4WD is helpful during the rainy season. This site features two seasonal streams that cross on the property, as well as bushes full of ripe blackberries - if you catch them at the right time, help yourself. You'll enjoy hearing the birds echoing through the trees and could easily see deer tip toeing through the woods. Dogs on leash only. We raise 4H and FFA show and market goats, llamas, and a donkey and a cow, all of whom are very friendly! You'll also see our chickens, ducks, peacocks, and guinea hens. Rock pilings are on the island between the two seasonal streams that cross our land. Gold panning, hiking and creek walking is available on the property. Campers are welcome to stargaze in the field, create scavenger hunts for the kids, or simply sit back and enjoy the tranquility. We also have zip line and a rope course on the property that is closed due to maintenance. The streams dry up in late June and fill up in November when the rains start. Trank Family Farm is 30 minutes from Lake Oroville, 20 minutes from Oroville Wildlife Area and the Feather River - great for kayaking, swimming, and fishing! Our lake property is situated directly adjacent to Scott's Flat Reservoir without any other properties between you and the lake! Enjoy the surrounding fir, cedar, and madrone trees as you watch the sunset over the water! Our property consists of 2 separate lots. The upper lot includes water, power, sewer hookups, WiFi and off street parking. The lower lot (closest to the water) does not have any hookups but has plenty of room for tent campsites. PREMIUM RV: "Lakeview Terrace": This RV Site is the larger of the 2 RV Sites. It offers a lot more open space for camp set up (table, chairs, cooking, etc.) This is the property where we keep our family's 5th wheel year round (as seen in some pictures, although we make it policy NOT to visit when RV Site #2 is booked in order to protect your privacy). STANDARD RV: "Starling's Nest": This is the smaller of the 2 RV Sites. The entire space is approximately 60'x15'. Depending on the size of your RV/Camper there is room enough to accommodate additional campsite set up. Full hookups (city water, electrical outlet (110), and sewer connection) are available beside the gravel parking pad and WiFi is provided. The lake view is filtered because of the many trees but there is easy access to the water via trails from the property or along Lake Lane. NOTE: Per Hipcamp restrictions this site is only available as an "add on" to the Premium RV: "Lakeview Terrace" to accommodate multi-family camping. LAKESIDE TENT CAMPSITES: "Halcyon Cove" consists of 3 separate tent campsites and guests are able to set up camp wherever they like on a first come basis. Waterside camping near Rocklin guide

Overview

Part of the greater Sacramento metropolitan area, the city of Rocklin makes a great jumping-off point for visiting nearby Folsom Lake as well as the Tahoe National Forest and the Eldorado National Forest. You might find yourself passing through town if you're driving from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe. Rocklin’s biggest draw is Quarry Park Adventures, an outdoor adventure park featuring activities ranging from zip lining to rock climbing. The city is also home to over three dozen parks and recreation areas, plus an extensive network of cycling and walking trails that weave through town.

Where to go

Folsom Lake Recreation Area

Centering on the lake from which it gets its name, Folsom Lake Recreation Area offers year-round tent and RV camping plus mooring areas where you can camp in your boat. While the lake is the big draw here, particularly in the summer months, the recreation area is an equally fine place for hiking and cycling, with nearly 100 miles of trails.

Auburn State Recreation Area

A short drive from Rocklin, Auburn State Recreation Area is an old favorite among anglers and adventurous campers, with excellent whitewater rafting and three campgrounds to choose from. You can even pan for gold on the banks of the Middle or North Forks of the American River, just as prospectors did back in the Gold Rush days.

The Eldorado National Forest

If you're up for a hiking, fishing, or backpacking adventure, head east to the Eldorado National Forest to take advantage of over 400 miles of trails and a massive network of rivers, streams, and reservoirs. This forest also has dozens of developed campgrounds and backcountry camping areas spread across its nearly 600,000-acre expanse.

When to go

The weather in Rocklin tends to be pleasant throughout much of the year, with mild winters and hot summers. Winters can be chilly and get a bit of rain, but freezing temperatures are rare, while summertime is hot and dry, with highs in the mid-90s. The annual Rocklin Community Festival, which features carnival rides and live music, takes place annually in June, when the weather is usually warm without being overwhelmingly hot.
