Imagine a place where the songs of red wing blackbirds fill the air. A place where you can see as far as the ocean to the west, the mountains of Humboldt County to the north, the Mendocino National Forest to the east, and the mountains of Sonoma County to the south. This is Red Wing Ranch.
While staying at Red Wing Ranch you will have the opportunity to walk on a section of the original stagecoach road, canoe in our private pond, watch the sunset over the Pacific ocean, and star gaze from what feels like a private planetarium. This is perfect for artists, writers, yogis, and those seeking the tranquility of off grid living. We have 40 acres of land with beautiful hiking in every direction. Our campsites have a fire pit, picnic table, and access to an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen!
The accommodation includes staying in a 850 square foot wooden yurt with bamboo floors. The building has a wooden stove and propane wall heat. We also have a fridge, stove for cooking and propane wall heater inside the yurt. There is a futon that sleeps 2 plus a kids size bed, but please bring sleeping bags or bedding. You can also put up two tents next to the yurt for more sleeping.
We have now added also an attached kitchen and bathroom to the yurt so we have an indoor shower and full kitchen!
There is a detached bathroom with a maintenance free composting toilet and simple outdoor kitchen. You will have access to cooking utensils and cookware, camp stove, and fire pit. There is a solar system so you have access to electricity and wifi.
The drive from Willits is 25 minutes, with only the last 5 minutes on a dirt road. You can do the drive in any car, unless the occasional snowy conditions. There is plenty of parking next to the yurt for easy unpacking.. To access the coast you do have to go back through Willits and use highway 20.

We had an amazing stay at the Good Things Farm! Kirsten and Evan were kind and welcoming hosts. The stay included access to a well-built outdoor bathroom, sink, and shower with hot running water. We were able to have a fire in the provided fire pit and star gaze under a dark night sky. The farm is near a lightly trafficked road; we experienced some noise from trucks in the morning, but overall the yurt was warm and cozy and well worth the stay! The property was beautiful and within driving distance to food and coffee shops as well as state parks near Fort Bragg. Overall we had a marvelous time and would stay again!

Spent wonderful V-Day with my fiance at the farm! Wood-burning barrel under the stars in the forest is out of this world. There is a well made fire pit next to the yurt which makes cooking on fire pretty easy and fun. The farm itself is fascinating: fruit tres, bees, live stock, flowers and dogs. Highly recommended 💗

The hosts were so welcoming and the yurt was super cozy. The yurt was heated so it’s a perfect year round stay. You’ll get to enjoy beautiful gardens the entire stay. This place is incredible. The ambiance created by the earthy decor inside and out was relaxing, refreshing and so connected to nature. They brought the outside in and made the inside blend seamlessly with it. Beautiful properties have an irresistible charm to them.
The hot tub right off my room was without a doubt the most pampered I have been in a long while. The accoutrements were perfect for any anticipated need. I loved experiencing this space and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Kirsten and Evan were fantastic hosts and have such a beautiful farm where we were able to explore and enjoy all of the beautiful flowers, fruit trees, river spot and so much more. The yurt was such a great place to stay in and was so fun and cozy to stay in after enjoying an evening by the campfire!

I love this place, such beautiful grounds and the view with the hot tub was incredible. The house was cozy and there were so many places to lounge and enjoy the view.
The dog loved this place as well; so much to smell and I was so happy to have a place for her to enjoy and not worry about her escaping. The peace and quiet was incomparable; I cannot wait to go back.

Good Things Farm is a truly magical place to say. Kirsten and Evan have created a truly magical little haven! They are extremely gracious and kind hosts!
My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the space. We had intended to use this as just a home base to explore Fort Bragg and Mendocino on a long weekend, but honestly we found that staying at the farm was the probably the main experience in itself. We really enjoyed the bikes that were provided with easy access to the leisurely coastal trail around the town. Mendocino is also only a short drive away (30 mins) and has gorgeous beach views.
But what really made the experience so great was just staying on the farm. It's like having private access to a botanical garden! The hot outdoor shower was also a to die for experience. Two shower heads!!! If you are looking for the glamping experience than this has to be the best it can ever get!
Also be sure to visit the farm box out front! Lots of really affordable and delicious fruits, meats, snacks, etc.

Beautiful, magical site. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped with tons of pots, pans, utensils, plates, cups, etc. and all kinds of tools and odds and ends that make you feel at home. There are multiple fridges and freezers and a well-stocked pantry of spices and dried goods as well. The wood-fired hot tub was super relaxing, and the flush toilet was a welcome addition as well. Ben was a fantastic host and was super responsive as well. The vibes were immaculate!

We love Shimmerback Ranch so much that we went back second year in a row! It's a beautiful, serene property that's been well taken care of. There are so many cute areas to hang out in. We especially enjoyed the hot tub by the creek, several amazing areas for star gazing at night and the fully stocked kitchen. Ben is a wonderful host and very communicative, he was very kind to accommodate a larger group we had for Labor Day weekend. Thank you, Ben! We'll be back for sure :)

Fantastic home to escape to! The view, deck, outside shower and hot tub created such a relaxing atmosphere. The home is clean, comfortable, and very inviting. Great location- we walked into town/the coast for our meals. Restaurant selections were perfect- coffee, beer, cocktails, and food were all great across the board. We would definitely recommend an escape here to anyone who is lucky enough to book this home!

When I read the description of this site, it immediately called to me. All of the other reviews are preaching the truth. This place was so homey, wonderful, comforting, and you could feel how much love was put into it. The land is the destination, not a quick place to crash for 12 hours while you're visiting the area. I love that it was set up with everything that you'd need when camping. The kitchen had every appliance, dish, and utensil you could want, there was great seating in spots that needed it, there's shady spots everywhere for the 100 degree weather, there's speakers, water floaties, a stargazing bed, grapes growing on the hookah lounge - everything. The water was perfect too. Even in dry late August, the creek was flowing and the swimming hole was deep, cold, and clear.
Things to note:
-You'll have to pack out your trash (no dumpster).
-The dogs are a little terrifying at first but they're just warning everyone that a new person is here! They're sweethearts.
-The one bathroom is not very private - it's a wooden shack in the middle of a clearing near the hot tub, and two of the showers are connected to the outside of it (you can hear everything). Shy poopers beware.
-The hot showers aren't really hot - the solar one doesn't heat at night (lol); the gas one only has enough hot water for 2 minutes; and the last is lukewarm (and in the open)
Thankfully they're making a new private bathroom!
Everything else was perf. We all truly loved it and want to return often.

Stacey thank you for a week of relaxation with our 3 beagles. We were able to relax because Stacy’s outside yard is completely fenced in. Our pups had a field day running and playing.
It was like home away from home.
Everything you would need is in her home for you to use except a coffee pot but I brought that.
We will definitely be back often now that we found her place.

A beautiful spot! The yurt was clean and cozy. River close by is so amazing and I can't say enough about how wonderful and dreamy the garden is! So many flowers and fruit trees! Make sure to visit the farm box for flowers and delicious goodies. The pesto is so good! Just book a visit and you will see how idyllic Good Things Farm is!
