Weekend Trip to Dark Fairy Farms

another incredible stay here. stanley the host pup was happy to greet me right away. sara was very welcoming again as well, and offered me a reiki session for an extra charge. it was incredible. highly recommend if you are open to that kind of thing. i really enjoy the cabin in this weather. it was not really rainy, but very moody and foggy. i was cozy and wish i could have stayed longer.

I was the only camper on the weekday night I went and that was lovely, so serene. I spent a few hours painting on the beautiful property. It was quiet, the most peaceful nights sleep I’ve had on this trip. Showers and facilities were great. The wild turkeys were intimidated by their reflection in my RVs bumper which was entertaining. Would definitely come back, I felt very safe here.

Thank you very much for this pleasant stay. The host was very friendly and the surroundings very quiet. We were able to relax very well and enjoy the beautiful nature in the camp. The sanitary facilities were very clean. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet place close to nature, you should definitely come here!

Great spot to park my van overnight! Joseph was easy to communicate with and welcoming. The sight was easy to get to and having access to a hot shower was amazing during the cold rain. It was nice to sleep among the trees, would recommend!

Nicely laid out campground with sounds of the river below. Excellent bathhouse with hot showers. The herd of deer wandering around were a nice touch too.

Great, cleared spot for our tent. We arrived after dark but everything was easy to find. Roscoe (little red dog) greeted us nicely. Season was super friendly and made sure we were set for the night. 10/10, would go back.

We were so grateful for Joseph hosting us! We got a sweet little spot on a really well-maintained and very secure location. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. We really appreciated getting to take a hot shower on a chilly morning. We would absolutely return again!

Good, clear comms from the host led to us rebooking our original pitch to the RV-specific site which met our needs very well. Sojourna was super accommodating in providing facilities for us and we all had a great night’s sleep :)

Gomde is a great place for a solo retreat from everyday life! The grounds are peaceful and the cabins are spotless, cozy and have everything you need to relax into your surroundings. I disconnected from work and instead immersed myself in nature, read, wrote, meditated and napped. I will make this place a regular for a digital detox.

•seeing the river down the road was cool •seeing tons stars out at night (not used to seeing stars at night from where I live) •the cabin was small but it felt private which was nice

absolutely love this spit. car camped it. backed in and just listened to the river rushing. so peaceful. thankful to season who helped me set up a little fire at the site next door. got to enjoy my favorite thing to do while camping right along the river

I had a great time here. Season was really lovely and helpful, lending me lamps and helping me start a fire. It's in a beautiful location and I went to sleep to the sound of running water. It was winter and I was super grateful for access to the barn, microwave and kettle to keep me warm. It was also great chatting to Season. I'd highly recommend this place

What a beautiful garden cabin in a beautiful place!!! I felt so much peace there. The cabin was clean, the bed SO comfy, the thoughtful touches incredible, the outdoor tub so fun, the most beautiful view from the compost toilet ever, and the kindest host. Lovely lovely lovely all around

One of the nicest hipcamps I've stayed on. The land is beautiful, with grazing deer around. The showers and toilets are modern, clean and super lovely. I enjoyed a lovely warm shower after many hours on the road. I would stay here again and again and again.

Meadow Farm is a quiet and creative sanctuary surrounded by the forest. The ocean breezes freshen the air and the pulse of the planet is heard as the surf sounds travel to put us to rest at night.. We are a place for people experimenting with the new old ways to live with low impact and conservation of our precious resources. We offer affordable accommodations, organic gardening, and education on plants and living simply. We welcome your interest in veganic garden and diet, orchards, and forest trails. Our organic vegetables and fruit may be available if you wish to bring some of our farm to your table. We can offer you a quiet and peaceful place without social pressures if you wish to "decompress" from city life, jobs or any stressful times. Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Camp Noyo

Established in 2012.Camp Noyo was first developed as a logging camp for the Union Lumber Company in 1907. Originally called "Camp Four," it was the fourth camp established by the lumber company as they progressed east from Fort Bragg along the current route of the California Western Railroad. In 1933, the Union Lumber Company donated the property to the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts began using the site in the summer 1934 and continue to use the property for several weeks every summer.In 2012, Allan Hemphill, his son Brian, and a small group of family friends purchased the property from the Boy Scouts. The Hemphill family has been care taking Camp Noyo for over 60 years. We decieded to open the property to the public in 2015 for camping in the summer.
