The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. The American River canyon offers kayaking, white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking and fishing. In the surrounding countryside, one can find many small vineyards & wineries, an occasional brewery or roadside fruit stand. It can be both sunny and cool here since we are located in the foothills, above the fog and at snowline. The Colfax Amtrak stop is only a 10 minute walk from the house, there's also a Greyhound line that stops in town.

It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. The back part of the property was a stop point for the stage line between Oroville and Bangor during the 1880, Then gold was discovered on the property. There were multiple Gold claims on this property. The Old rock pilings are still there to explore. It is a favorite spot for finding Jasper, some Agates and quartz. Campers are welcome year-round to this tent site on the old Gold Claim of our 20-acre family farm! Drive right up to this fun-filled, family-friendly campsite, easily accessible by cars and SUVs alike - though 4WD is helpful during the rainy season. This site features two seasonal streams that cross on the property, as well as bushes full of ripe blackberries - if you catch them at the right time, help yourself. My second time here and I booked just one day before, knowing I needed a space I could have to myself, that offered rest and “being.” Rachel and I got to meet this time, and she helped me set up for an outdoor fire, and even helped with the new hot water heater for the shower. Truly so much love is put into the bus and surrounding areas. I plan to share this place with other solo travelers, because as a solo preferred traveler, this spot is safe and the host is incredibly helpful for anything!

From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was special. The sweeping views and gentle quiet made it feel like a hidden retreat, yet it’s only about 11 minutes from the charming streets of Nevada City. Our hosts, Chris and Rebecca, were warm, welcoming, and attentive. Saturday morning, our car key’s remote battery unexpectedly died. Instead of having to call an Uber or drive into town for a replacement, they cheerfully produced a spare battery—turning what could have been a stressful moment into a reminder of their thoughtful hospitality. It’s rare to find a spot that combines natural beauty, convenience, and hosts who genuinely care, but this place has all three. We left feeling relaxed, grateful, and their thoughtfulness truly made our experience even better. Highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to Lazy Bear Cabin

We enjoyed our time at this little cabin so much. We originally planned to camp elsewhere but the place ended up being flooded, so last minute we were able to book this place and head here within a few hours. The host was planning to close the cabin down for this time but allowed our booking anyway and was very accommodating. He even came from out of town a few hours away to make sure we had everything we needed. Any questions we had he answered right away and even came in the middle of the night to change out the propane tank for us. The atmosphere was wonderful and our dogs were very welcomed. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay! The woodfired sauna and outdoor tub under the stars or just what my husband and I needed. We really enjoyed the yurt space and the bed was very comfy. We will definitely go back. Just an FYI, for people looking this is a rustic experience - compost toilet, no wifi, so if you’re looking for something a bit refined, this might not be as awesome for you as it was for us.

2 nights at Hilltop Acres Tipi Glamp Camp

Nice and quiet spot with everything you might need provided. The neighbors dog Abby greeted us every day and she was a sweetheart. The teepee was decked out in a comfy World Market boho vibe and even had a mini fridge. Oh and the sheets were the softest. Nice bathroom not far from the sight. If you are cooking at night by the bathroom, it's a bit dark. Just turn on the bathroom light and pull back the curtain, that will help. The teepee did have a smokey smell due to the fires inside, but I am sensitive to that kind of thing. Overall loved the place and would camp here again.

The cabin has a great little deck that gets tons of sun. (And at night it makes for a good stargazing platform!)

We had a great time at the Shamballa cabin over the weekend! It’s a beautiful rustic cabin in the middle of nature. You’ll get the feel of glamping (only wood burning stove for heat, no bathrooms in the cabin or running hot water (but flush toilet and hot water sink and shower in main house)), but you’ll be staying in a beautiful cabin with comfortable beds, a kitchen to prepare meals and a cozy place to relax. We enjoyed exploring the area and hiking the Dragons nest trail (get ready for some exercise as you go up to the top!). There is so much land to see and we only saw a little bit! I imagine it’s beautiful in the Winter months also! Thank you Adam and we hope to visit another time!

Weekend Trip to Victoria Forest

Deana’s place is perfect for anyone looking for private glamping in Nevada City that’s far enough from town to feel like a recalibrating retreat. I loved all the privacy and having so much space to let my dogs roam around the property without having to worry about interrupting anyone. As others have mentioned, the mosquitos are bad. We brought a couple thermacell’s with us and they eventually helped. We only noticed them at dusk.

Chris & Rebecca’s place is perhaps the quietest camp I have ever stayed at. No noise other than nature, no lights in the near valley. Just leaning on the chair at the deck of their “Platform of Pleasure” cabin while taking in the breathtaking view was an experience worth savoring for hours in the sunset time… Our dog was also in heaven, with so much land to trot across. Chris & Rebecca were also super attentive and generous hosts. Highly recommended… We are definitely coming back!
