I’ve had the pleasure to be the “caretaker” of this special land once inhabited by the Maidu Indians for the past 43 years. This is SPECIAL ground here and I’m sure you will feel the MAGIC!!! This 40 acres sits on the Yuba River Ridgetop. At the "Platform of Pleasure" you will enjoy 100,000+ acre views of protected land looking North to the High Sierra, minutes away from downtown Nevada City and 15 miles from Yuba River Trailheads. Firewood bundles are $1 per stick per stick, (when campfires 🔥 are allowed). There is a $15.00 dog fee per dog/per stay. You can add the dog fee to your booking or pay cash when you arrive. On our property like anywhere in the woods there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray. We offer a tent platform, as well as a canvas tent listing. From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was special. The sweeping views and gentle quiet made it feel like a hidden retreat, yet it’s only about 11 minutes from the charming streets of Nevada City. Our hosts, Chris and Rebecca, were warm, welcoming, and attentive. Saturday morning, our car key’s remote battery unexpectedly died. Instead of having to call an Uber or drive into town for a replacement, they cheerfully produced a spare battery—turning what could have been a stressful moment into a reminder of their thoughtful hospitality. It’s rare to find a spot that combines natural beauty, convenience, and hosts who genuinely care, but this place has all three. We left feeling relaxed, grateful, and their thoughtfulness truly made our experience even better. Highly recommended!

Chris & Rebecca’s place is perhaps the quietest camp I have ever stayed at. No noise other than nature, no lights in the near valley. Just leaning on the chair at the deck of their “Platform of Pleasure” cabin while taking in the breathtaking view was an experience worth savoring for hours in the sunset time… Our dog was also in heaven, with so much land to trot across. Chris & Rebecca were also super attentive and generous hosts. Highly recommended… We are definitely coming back!

This place is amazing. The view is breathtaking, that’s an understatement. We spent hours watching the view, the sunset and sleeping under the stars. Chris and Rebecca were so welcoming and kind. They gave us a tour of their beautiful space and helped us move our equipment to the space. They sent me a great curated list of hikes and places to visit during our stay and the two we were able to squeeze in were INCREDIBLE. The platform is better than we could have imagined. The perfect place for us. Private, and spacious. Well equipped with lighting, a gas grill, tables, chairs and a cozy bed with an indescribably beautiful view. The facilities felt well maintained and clean. The features are well thought through and allow us to set up quickly and focus on our vacation. Chris and Rebecca have built something really special out there. I have been to this area quite a few times, but this beautiful property gave me a new perspective on the place. We’re already planning our next trip.

2 nights at Tambo Ranch Tiny House Village

This was the perfect place to take a day or two and just relax. The tiny house had just enough kitchen that for a short stay you didn’t need to go out unless you wanted to. It was impressively efficient. I did bring a cooler because I like cold beverages, but the small fridge would be enough for the yogurts and cheese I brought with for my 2 night stay. I had a nice time playing with the kittens, Caspian the dog, (who dutifully slept on my porch) and exploring the property. The bed downstairs was very comfortable and it was nice falling asleep to the sounds of nature outside. 10/10 recommend!

We stayed at the Tiny House on our way home from a trip to the Portola area and the Feather River Canyon. The Tiny House, though tiny, has every thing you might need. Couch, desk, sink, stove, frig, bathroom, shower, heater/air conditioner and spacious loft bed. Everything functional and clean. Outdoor table and chairs outside with beautiful patio tree lighting available at night. We found a friendly dog under the front stairs in the morning and a wide variety of chickens to gaze at on the property. All good here.

We stayed at this cozy A-frame and absolutely loved it! The property had everything I needed for a comfortable getaway — a shower, a hot tub, and even a cold plunge. We were in the rv first time we stayed and the cottage the second time. Loved them both. Clean, comfy, ac worked amazing! Off the beaten path, which we really liked! Both had everything you might need for a great stay. Will stay again when passing through! Rv was a bit too short for my husband (he’s 6’6”).

Weekend Trip to Perfect Getaway with Private Creek

We had a great stay at Joe's property. The kids loved tent camping, swimming, and exploring the area. Grandpa enjoyed the creature comforts of the tiny house, especially the AC and mini-fridge. The propane grill worked great and the tiny home had all the kitchen items we needed (e.g. cutlery, pots/pans, grill tongs, plates/bowls). The natural pool in the creek is beautiful and refreshing on a hot day. It's well worth the hike. We look forward to returning!

Chris & Rebecca were awesome host. As soon as we got there, Chris was super helpful in showing us around and providing anything we needed. The platform itself was gorgeous. Space to just relax and enjoy sunset and or stargazing at night. The property itself had plenty to do like corn hole, ping pong, a really nice swing, and more. 10/10 site and we can't wait to be back!
