Warm and inviting, Sage is a relaxing, modern spot for people heading up to Kirkwood for skiing or for nature, lakes, and fishing. Our place offers a fully operational commercial style communal outdoor kitchen, a small stage, huge redwood, slab dining table, and 14 acres of camping area. It’s important to us that our guests don’t feel they are renting a tent/RV site or a camper as much as they’re immersing themselves into the outdoor experience. For more adventurous, there's a full slate of self-guided recreational activities, such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, ATVing, rock climbing, biking, natural water slides, stand up paddle boards, bird watching, available in the area. We do have modern conveniences such as wifi internet; however, we encourage our guests to “unplug” and immerse in the slow paced life instead. At Paradise Shores, we believe in protecting people, animals and the planet. We make sure that the majority of products we use at our camp is recycled, composted, or re-used. We prefer to use products that are produced in a sustainable way and avoid those that aren't. We are continuously reducing the amount of waste we generate and actively promote recycling of aluminum, plastic, glass, and cardboard. We pack our own recycling and haul it to the nearest recycling facility which is an hour away. We co-opt the drive with other activities to reduce waste. We don’t use individually packaged toiletries or one-use products. We use plant and planet friendly detergent. We're based in a desert. We share our precious water with the entire planet. With only 326 million cubic miles of water on the earth, the decreasing amounts of access to quality fresh water is alarming to us. We monitor how we use water in our day-to-day activities and are constantly working on ways to reduce our consumption of fresh-water resources. We hope you can help us maintain this greener camping! The excellent hiking/running trails including the Pacific Crest Trail, thousands of miles of ATV, dirt bike and mountain bike trails are accessible right from our camp or within a short drive from here. The surrounding terrain offers endless activities and unbelievable scenery in remote wilderness settings. Pet Policy All our RV & Tent sites are pet friendly and we allow up to two dogs per reservation for a small fee. We can also accommodate up to two four-legged campers in our pet-friendly Baja or Tatra trailers for a small fee, we ask that they stay off the furniture (beds, sofas etc.) and are not left in the rental unattended. We love dogs, but sadly won’t be able to accommodate heavily shedding pets that aren’t house trained. Learn more about this land: Tent sites are next to the pear orchard. Choose any site. There is no need to meet with the host when you arrive. Follow the red arrows. Do not proceed the home located at 1071 Fruitridge. Look for the Hipcamp sign and red arrow markers and turn left into the orchard lane. Location: Use google maps and locate 1071 Fruitridge Rd in Placerville, CA. When you get to 1071, which is a house on the right side of the paved driveway, look for our Hipcamp sign in red, turn hard right into the orchard and follow the red arrows past a wood barn, and up to a small red shed. At this point you may camp in the meadow next to the shed or you may proceed to the next meadow over to the left (follow red arrows and look for umbrellas). We normally only have one site occupied per evening. Ocaisonally two sites will be occupied. The sites are very private and quiet as this is a large, private ranch. You can park close to your tent site. 2WD / 4WD access weather permitting. We offer 3 sites in a large meadow area. Max of 4 persons per site. RV's welcome but we do not have hookups. RV's will be parked next to our barns surrounded by pear orchards. Fresh drinking water is available in the tent meadow area. Hot showers are now available at $10 extra per nite per site. A gas BBQ is now available at a common area. Please don't move the BBQ. Deer, wild turkeys, geese aplenty. Ample walking opportunities on our ranch and wild forestlands and amazing granite rock outcrops. Visit the South Fork of the American River (you can raft in summer!) Hunt for old gold mines on our place and, maybe, find some new ones! Go wine tasting very close by (Lava Cap, Madrone, Boeger) and visit Sutter's Mill in Coloma, where gold was discovered back in 1848.

Rustic ranch land only a stone's throw away from town. The historic Santosh Ranch is surrounding a 3,700 s/f warehouse "Shop" with a hot indoor shower available upon request. The Ecozoic bio-filter toilet is next to the red barn, and is available to all Hip Campers. We are walking distance to Lyon County Fairgrounds (kitty corner across the highway), the town of Yerington (one mile) and the Night in the Country location (two miles). There are a half dozen corrals and a few animal shelters, but has not had animals for years. Hip Campers can choose to back into one of the corral areas to have fenced off privacy especially with pets, and use of the animal shelter as shade. There are a pair of picnic tables and wood stump benches in the various camping areas. There is a fire pit behind the Shop that can only be used by the owner when it is not high-risk fire season. Also a gas stove BBQ in the shop. Both can be used upon request. We are in a high risk fire area so there are no fires allowed any time of the year unless indicated. There are relics from the 19th century when the Santosh Ranch was a working farm property. There is also the frame of one of the first automobiles ever built! The wheel spokes and the frame are made of wood, but the chassis where the engine one rested is made of steel. It is located next to the Ecozoic toilet.

That’s exactly what we did, this spot has everything else you need. Everything from cooking on the open fire to the spa was a great experience. We will definitely be back for another glamping trip!

There was everything needed to enjoy dinners on the deck, including a beautiful forest view along with peace and quiet. This campsite was awesome! I did tent camping and Bobby has several secluded campsites to choose from. The communal area is beautiful, functional, and inviting. Bobby is an involved and friendly host. There’s a large fire pit and the commercial kitchen is great. This was the easiest camping I’ve ever done and I would absolutely come back again. This area is home to many fun hikes, lakes, and near a cool state park with a cave tour.

Weekend Trip to King Madrone

Great location. Trails right on the property. Went to bed listening to frogs and woke up to blackbirds singing. My dog LOVED running around and eating blackberries. The listing says boating is possible but I didn't see any instructions so I didn't bother flipping the boat over. I also wasn't sure which spigot was potable but I brought enough water with me for the trip. Bathroom worked as expected and I used the utility sinks in the adjoining room to brush my teeth. The maps link on the hipcamp message took me to the corner of Larsen and Carson 15 mins away, instead of Fruitridge so don't use that. The instructions I got for checking in said to go to the end of the paved road to the barn and text but that must be out of date. There's a hipcamp sign with arrows on the left side across from the first house. I was directed there after wandering around looking lost near the second house. 😅

We 10000% recommend staying here🤎🌲 if you’re looking for a place that feels straight out of a movie—dog friendly, peaceful, remote, and surrounded by nature singing around you. From the moment we booked, Bobby was an amazing host—warm, attentive, and super communicative. He knew we wouldn’t have signal, so he made sure to be there right on time to guide us in. When we arrived, he gave us a full tour and made it clear everything on the property was for us to enjoy. We felt welcome and at home every moment. The open-air kitchen in the forest is pure magic, and it has everything you could ever need, from pans to spices. One of our favorite moments was connecting to his Spotify and playing our music while cooking under the trees. There’s always a fire going— perfect for s’mores, deep talks and stargazing 💫 The place is incredibly dog-friendly🐶 We have two Australian Shepherds who were allowed off-leash the whole time. They had the best time! During the day, we hiked and explored. At night, we soaked in the jacuzzi right outside our room—perfect temperature, peaceful vibes. Before leaving, Bobby recommended Silver Lake to continue our adventure. And something really special—he helped me find a nature souvenir (a beautiful branch!) for my travel tradition. Truly one of our most memorable stays. We’ll be back! Thank you, Bobby.

Brad is a fantastic host. We were among his first ‘hipcampers’. We got a flat on the way and had to be towed to site. Brad was very accommodating and offered to drive me in the quest for a new tire. We had a group campfire and enjoyed each other’s company. We parked on the side of a big shed and it was very private. The side is about a mile from the city which offered all the amenities. Including a RV repair and tire shop!

Overall a great stay. We visited during April so the other camp spots were closed. It was quiet except for the occasional car/trucks driving by. 30-45 min scenic drive to mono lake depending on the visit location. It would have been close to Bodie state park except the regular road to the park was closed in mid April. The long way took about an hour on gravel and dirt road still worth the visit though. Very close to the natural hot spring.

My husband and I car camped on this property and found it to be lovely. It was a 4:00 check in which left a short amount of time to set up before dark with “winter hours”. It would have been nice to enjoy the set up and the daytime hours a bit more, but the morning sun was delightful. I would highly recommend connecting with the host for the directions to help navigate the way on the property as it was a bit more challenging to find “where” to be on the property. All was good and we appreciated the communication Ben had given. Thank you!
