Nopalito Farm has been in operation since late 2014, but the property itself has been a working farm for over 50 years. Lemons and avocados were the primary crops from the 70’s through the 00’s, and are still prominent throughout our 15 acres. Our predecessors then diversified the growing operation by planting a wide range of fruit trees ranging from guavas and passion fruit to peaches and figs. Woodson, Potato Chip Rock, Iron Mountain). You also have access to a relaxing hot tub/jacuzzi & brand new 300sf deck.
The Airstream has one King bed with a super comfy mattress and the dinette turns in to an additional King sleeping space.
If you want a true immersive, farm experience, ask about our add-on experiences including grooming the animals, helping at feed time, and cleaning their pens! There's plenty of great space to ride your bikes, and it's proven to be a hit with the kiddos!
The Airstream is new to the ranch and is a work in progress, but you'll love the charm of hanging out in a very cool vintage trailer. We'll soon be adding some layers of paint, shine, and lots of love, so make sure to follow our progress in fixing the ole girl up!
Our location is also unique because we are fully fenced in and have a separate turn out space for your horses (check add-ons for camping with your horse). We also have a small 1954 Camper ("Lucy") that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on).
**WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: We can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn't meet ADA standards. Please ask if you have questions?!

We enjoyed roaming the campus spending as much time as we could with the animals. The owners are there for your questions, (right away), and they leave you alone to enjoy your time. I would recommend this camp to anyone who loves animals and camping."

Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Join the royal court and stay in our 1975 Airstream Sovereign Land Yacht! Immerse yourself in a budding rescue ranch with pot belly pigs, mini horse, and mini donkey, or take a romp on our 5 acres with lots of hidden gems to discover, or explore the many hiking trails nearby (Mt. Woodson, Potato Chip Rock, Iron Mountain). You also have access to a relaxing hot tub/jacuzzi & brand new 300sf deck.
The Airstream has one King bed with a super comfy mattress and the dinette turns in to an additional King sleeping space.
If you want a true immersive, farm experience, ask about our add-on experiences including grooming the animals, helping at feed time, and cleaning their pens! There's plenty of great space to ride your bikes, and it's proven to be a hit with the kiddos!
The Airstream is new to the ranch and is a work in progress, but you'll love the charm of hanging out in a very cool vintage trailer. We'll soon be adding some layers of paint, shine, and lots of love, so make sure to follow our progress in fixing the ole girl up!
Our location is also unique because we are fully fenced in and have a separate turn out space for your horses (check add-ons for camping with your horse). We also have a small 1954 Camper ("Lucy") that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on).
**WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: We can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn't meet ADA standards. Please ask if you have questions?!

Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

We enjoyed our time in the Victory tent for my dog's 5th birthday. The hosts Lance and Daniel were attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. Daniel even stopped by with guava and oranges from their property and gave my dog a ball as a little birthday gift. It was a wonderful weekend. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Campo Nopalito
Jacob’s Little Cabin was the perfect first glamping experience. The cabin is just big enough for the fully made comfortable bed, and the wall that opens up like a garage door gives you a stunning view. It truly feels like camping, but with zero stress.
Jacob was very kind and helpful without being intrusive, and we loved his dog Gertie — she was playful and even got along great with our dog, who usually doesn’t like other dogs.
The kitchen was the highlight, especially the pizza oven. Making our own pizza was such a fun experience. The bathroom was spotless, and he even has an outdoor hot shower. Everything you need is provided — pots, pans, dishes, silverware, drinking water, and seasonings.
An easy five-star stay. We’d absolutely come back.

My dog, husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Granite Gulch!! What a unique campground. Views were beautiful. Super private fire pit. Goats were very quiet at night too. Can’t wait to come back and check out the other spaces on Benjamins land as well. Also our air mattress pump died and the host was super quick to respond in providing options for renting bedding if we’d like. Highly recommend for a quick getaway even for a night it’s so worth it!

Absolutely stunning scenery — waking up to the sunrise and layered hills was unforgettable. Directions and mapping were very clear and well thought out, which made arrival stress-free. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even helping us select firewood, which was a really thoughtful touch.
That said, the temperature drops significantly at night and the wind can be strong, so proper preparation is important. One of the highlights was meeting the two large white farm dogs — they were gentle, friendly, and felt like the best natural guides around the property.
Overall, a peaceful and memorable stay. Would love to come back and experience this place in a different season.

This was a really nice getaway with amazing views! Vicki is awesome and so accommodating. She helps you find a good spot when you get there so if you want the most options, get in as close to check in as possible. It is off grid so make sure you’re prepared with gear cuz no electricity. I don’t know if this is normal, but temps changed drastically for us during the day. Dropped probably 30 degrees at night. We camped mid January and were in shorts in the day but would’ve frozen at night if we didn’t bring our own heaters. Cell service works but is a bit weak. Road up the mountain is narrow, bumpy, and sometimes steep. Just to keep in mind if bringing trailers. But great trip if you want beautiful Mountain View’s!

Wow! Our family fell in love with this magical spot. It was exactly what we needed. The views, the animals, and the amazing stars are now a forever memory. My daughter made besties with the donkey that followed us for a hike.
Not to mention the owner Benjamin is great. My son threw a rock and broke a sprinkler and Benjamin was a class act in handling the situation. We will definitely be back.

We reserved both Breakthrough and Bodhi Tree together due to our group size, and it worked out perfectly. The sites were close enough to feel like we were together and have meals together but separated enough to give a little privacy. The tents were spacious and comfortable, and there was enough open space that those who wanted to cowboy camp under the stars had room to do so. Although people usually complain about port-o-potties, the one shared by these two sites was spotless and well stocked with toilet paper.
The camp host was superb. He came back multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed, to give us a description of where we could walk, to lend us items that we forgot to pack. He even offered to guide in a late-arriving guest so they would not get lost in the dark.
The kids loved the campsite dogs who came to protect us and hang out. They, and the neighboring dogs had much to bark about at night, so pack your earplugs. But we did feel safe with them around.
As far as driving, it can be done with a regular car, though on a rainy day I would only want to try it with an all-wheel-drive with some clearance. We had a dry day. The GPS gets close. The host sent us a message to wait at a particular sign so they could guide us to the site, but we missed that sign and drove in ourselves. The last part was a bit confusing. Most of us made it directly, but a couple guests got lost. If you can, read the signs well and contact the host for help.
It was a great stay!

We stayed one night camping at Split Rock Farm and Retreat and had such a lovely experience. I came with my seven-year-old and felt very safe the entire time, which was important to me. Waking up surrounded by goats was such a special moment my kid absolutely loved it and couldn’t stop smiling. The trails were peaceful and easy to enjoy, and the overall atmosphere felt calm and family-friendly. We’ll definitely be back again.

The Oak Grove Communal Campground is located in a bunch of really full trees that provide lots of shade. The ground is flat enough to set up a tent, and the individual fire pits are great! We chose to have 1 Bell tent set up for us when we arrived, and it was so helpful for that part of our group.
There are tons of fun walking trails/boulders to play on, so it was great for families.
The camp dogs are super friendly, and we loved having them join us.
Things I would note if it is someone’s first time here: 1) If you arrive after 7pm, there is no one onsite or via phone that you can reach for assistance. 2) coming in after dark is not advised by me, due to the fact that the roads on site are windy and hilly. There were parts where I needed 4-wheel drive to get around (though not specifically at the oak grove spot).
3) the goats absolutely roam around and will come directly into your campsite. We didn’t mind it, but if you don’t like that idea, it’s something to keep in mind.
