2. Love Creek Sanctuary!

37mi from Knights Landing · 6 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them. ---- We are a working farm - PLEASE READ----- There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane. Thank you for choosing us!

We are back on Hipcamp after a 2 year break with improvements and amenities! 🌙 5-Acre Volcanic Mountaintop Organic Farm Sanctuary 1250 feet Above Napa Valley Wine Country and Harbin Hot Springs. A breathtaking State Park level 360 degree view atop an ancient volcanic cinder cone overlooking California’s organic "Secret Wine Country.” Located just 12 miles from Napa Valley 6 miles from Harbin Hot Springs, our land sits at the crossroads of geology, history, healing, and natural beauty. From the top of the Knoll, you can see: • Mt. St. Helena • Mayacamas Mountain Range • Harbin Mountain • The Geysers, the most active geothermal energy field on Earth Every direction opens into cinematic landscapes: sunrise in the east over Angwin, sunset in the west behind volcanic ridges, moonrise over the Harbin side, and clear night skies sparkling with thousands of stars. This is a place where stressed out San Francisco and Silicon Valley professionals come to breathe, sleep and rest deeply, reconnect, see galaxies and remember what Earth feels like. 🌋 A VOLCANIC POWERPOINT IN THE PACIFIC RING OF FIRE The Hidden Knoll sits on a dormant volcanic ridge within the Pacific Ring of Fire, which Lake County embodies. The barren and rocky land is composed of red volcanic soil, ancient lava rock, and mineral-rich ash that gives this mountain a unique energy signature. Our shared amenities improved significantly since these reviews were written two years ago, and we have hosted hundreds of people on another platform where we are one of the Guest Favorite "most loved" properties. We invite you to rediscover as these reviews are for basic camping and don't reflect the fully equipped glamping we have today. Each glamping site is privately spaced over 150 feet from the main farmhouse where the caretaker and host live and with an adjacent open parcel of 6 uninhabited acres. The guests share a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with sink, grill, seasonal pool, (May-October) outdoor bathing area ("Farmhouse Spa") with DIY cowboy tub and outdoor on demand hot shower, outdoor fireplace, and organic garden with heirloom free ranging chickens. Located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Gold Country~ 15 min from Grass Valley, Nevada City or Colfax. There is the 'MUST SEE' yuba river nearby neavada city and grass valley, Greenhorn creek that runs into Rollins Lake very close to the property. Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

30mi from Knights Landing · 9 sites · Lodging
We are an off-grid, solar-powered, 25-acre lakeside venue and permaculture-inspired, lifestyle-rich collaborative that is a retreat and event venue, and hosts guests for glamping. Heartland exists where the wilderness of off-grid life meets an artistic collective that sings possibility to the fringe dwellers of the Regenerative Eco-Village movement. Heartland offers everyone a break from the craziness of what so many call "Life" and a view of what can be co-created with each other for each other. As in permaculture, the Heartland model is about doing more with less, it's about allowing our individual and diverse natural Flow states to merge, forging new pathways of co-creation that are the true answer to our collective purpose. We invite teams and individuals to come to build through our Heartlander Work-Trade program or join retreats or workshops focused on one of our 4 Heartland Pillars: OuterWork - InnerWork - Transformation - Celebration. We hold harmony, creativity, innovation, connection, and shared leadership as core building blocks of our vision. Our private-membership based organization offers various levels of engagement. You've been called here, so we invite you to explore our tracks. The Heartland Collective is a prototype for a larger collective of regenerative communities where members can own shared equity in land and use a commonly held currency that interchanges between each location offering unique flexibility. *As of 1/1/2025 we do not have lake access. We have a pool, cold plunges, and various water features on-site and there is a really cool swimming hole near by.

19. Ranchito Guapito Organic Farm Stay

25mi from Knights Landing · 1 site · Lodging
Stay on our working organic fruit and vegetable farm in a cozy 1960s trailer. Our spot is located just a mile from downtown Winters and 15 minutes from Lake Berryessa. You will have the run of the place while you're here -- 77 acres of orchards, vineyards and vegetable crops to explore and harvest depending on what's in season. This is a working farm so you may not have the whole place to yourself (except on Sundays), but it's not hard to find a spot where you won't be disturbed to take a siesta or have a picnic. After four p.m., though, we (the owners) are the only others on the property, unless you include the local coyote pack. We have spectular sunsets and amazing dark skies for stargazing. The trailer sleeps one person or a couple (Two person maximum). It has a tiny bathroom with toilet and shower, and a very small kitchen including fridge and freezer. It also has an AC and plenty of additional electricity. We have sheets and pillows but you bring your own towels. There's a grill outside. Note: This is our home, and we live a stone's throw from the trailer. We both have full-time jobs. If you are looking for "curated" experience or high level of hospitality and service, this isn't it. If you are looking for a reasonably comfortable stay on an authentic, working organic farm less than an hour away from Sacto and the SF Bay, this may be a good fit. Our farm dog Jack LOVES people and will likely convince you to throw him the ball or stick. He has the run of the property and is not leashed or fenced in. He's very friendly and will be happy to go on a walk around the farm with you anytime.
