Our property is lakeside at Rollins Lake In Colfax. We live on over 30 private, beautiful acres with footpath access to Rollins Lake. (3 minute walk from the dome or house, and 10-15 minutes from the cabin) where most summer days here are spent swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing ect., down at the water. Please note the Cabin is set on a seasonal CANNABIS garden. All three sites are vacation spots with AC and WIFI, not just simple accommodations, but experiences. The remarkable property is very hilly with pines and oaks. You can follow our driveway to the bottom and access the beginning of The Bear River which has a nice hiking trail alongside it or drive 8 minutes to the nearest boat ramp and 10 minutes to the town of Colfax where you will find gas, groceries, and restaurants. We have a beautiful spot where you will not see any neighbors so it is peaceful and private with gorgeous 360-degree views. It is also very safe! Bask in nature, quiet, and privacy! In summer there is a 3-night minimum for the cabin and dome. Occasionally a two day midweek will pop up on the schedule last minute. To see correct pricing, enter your dates as they can fluctuate with holidays, weekends. Prices are decreased midweek. We have 3 accommodations on the property -A GUEST SUITE (lakeside), up to 5 people. -A CABIN (15 min walk or 3 min drive/5 min walk, up to 4 people. -A GLAMPING DOME with an additional teepee tent site (lakeside)! There is the 'MUST SEE' yuba river nearby neavada city and grass valley, Greenhorn creek that runs into Rollins Lake very close to the property. Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

The cabin was very cozy and the scenery was beautiful. It was near a lot of wonderful hiking trails and a cute town. It was the perfect mix of secluded but not totally isolated and even though it was cold, the cabin is a converted sauna and got very toasty with a fire.

I came to get away from a busy city life and to celebrate opening a restaurant. This property allowed me to completely disconnect, center and ground myself. As much as a wanted to get away from people and the world I soon realized that what I needed was to meet some truly amazing people who aligned with my core values on nature and passion. Akhi, Borro and Aldo were beyond warm and welcoming to us. They made us feel like family and I soon looked forward to bumping into them. He mentions this place to be Shangri-La and that is spot on the most perfect description of our experience on their land. Surrounded by rugged nature and wildlife with a trail walk to crystal clear sanctuary of river full of adventure and exploration. I stumbled upon this site and now am making it my regular space to recharge.

We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin. It was private & secluded. We actually never made it down to the lake which was okay with us because we were out exploring other things. The cabin had everything we needed to make a small breakfast, enjoy coffee (Keurig) with coffee mate, sugar, and even had some snacks & SPF for us. It was the perfect accommodation for our needs. The road getting up to the house was a little sketchier than anticipated but we put our Jeep in 4Wd & it was fine. I think it would have been okay without it though.

The cabin was secluded and we didn’t see anyone else during our stay there, and it was cute and comfortable. Hosts were great about taking us down to lake which was great for swimming and water activities. Road to cabin is dirt and gravel and we could not do it in our non-4 wheel drive car, but we could park further down and walk up. Just beware of this.

Weekend Trip to Frolic Pond Cabin

The Nest on Frolic Meadows was fantastic. It is very bare bones, but provided everything we needed and was exactly what we were looking for. There is no electricity or WiFi signal, so be prepared to get off grid and just enjoy the serenity of nature. There is a compostable toilet just right up the path, close to the cabin, which was totally fine. There was a cute little tree frog that I had to move away when using it. You will be in nature here, so you will also have to appreciate all the wildlife around you. Speaking of wildlife, there were over 16 species of birds in the area that my Merlin app picked up. There is a small area for storage in the unit that is separate from the sleeping area. The double or queen bed was enough space for my 11-year old and me to sleep comfortably. We brought blankets, but it was so hot this past weekend that we didn’t really need them. The cabin cooled off nicely at night with the sleeping area window open. Matia was a great communicator and made the directions very clear; it was easy to find, and I am glad we did! The pond right out the door from the cabin provided; it had a nice temperature for swimming and it was good fishing. There were both large mouth bass and bluegills. In our short stay, we caught two bass and three bluegills. There is only one other property bordering the pond. There were some folks enjoying it, but only for a couple hours. For the most part, we had the whole place to ourselves. Highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to BALI HUTS ON PRIVATE YUBA

We had a fabulous time at Akhi’s place by the Yuba. It’s about a 25 min walk down to the water (pretty steep) and once you are down there it is breathtaking!! Crystal clear water which was pretty warm and very refreshing on a hot day. Perfect spot for a trip. Worth the price, we look forward to coming back again ☺️

We enjoyed the peace and quiet here. The cabin was perfectly cozy and provided all the necessities for glamping. We also really liked the host’s recommendations in town - we tried Java John’s for coffee and Lola’s for a nicer dinner our last night. Russ and Kim both greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. The property was very easy to find.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Farmhouse Cabin at Rollins Lake. It was clear that the host put thought and care into ensuring we were comfortable; from the A/C and nice furnishings, to the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. They even provided a bath bomb for the outdoor tub (which was to die for, btw). The lake was a short, but strenuous hike away - but also a short drive. Loved the lake. Loved the Empire Mine State Park nearby. The cabin felt remote, but was close to town. We are grateful our dog was welcome. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

another incredible stay. kim was so kind and welcoming. she even left me a goodie bag since i’ve stayed there multiple times. it wasn’t too hot even with the heat advisory. i love the new little additions too. the little overhang over the door for when it rains. the little ledge u see the mirror. the stone tiles in the kitchen area. all lovely! i always find peace and rest here, which is why ill always return

1 night at BALI HUTS ON PRIVATE YUBA

This hipcamp was easy to get to and yet off the beaten path and we enjoyed exploring the secluded stretch of the yuba river that was private . Staying in the Bali hut was a fun experience felt more like glamping . The workers on the land welcomed us so kindly.

Weekend Trip to BALI HUTS ON PRIVATE YUBA

Absolutely magical! This Hipcamp strikes the perfect balance between comfort and an authentic outdoor experience. We stayed in Hut #3, a clean, serene Bali hut overlooking wildflowers, a pond, and open prairie. With screened windows and a sliding glass door, the hut felt cozy and comfortable—yet still natural and unpolished enough to keep us fully immersed in nature and connected to the outdoors. Our two dogs roamed freely and even made friends with Akhi’s sweet dog, Sheba. Akhi and his team were incredible from start to finish—warm, responsive, and genuinely committed to making our stay special. They even welcomed our late 10pm arrival with someone waiting to guide us to our hut and make sure we were settled. The land itself is breathtaking. A scenic, moderately rugged trail leads to a stunning river canyon, surrounded by untouched natural beauty. It’s a dream for hikers, runners, or anyone wanting to unplug. There’s even a zipline for dropping into a swim hole once the water warms up! What truly makes this place unforgettable is its story. Akhi once worked on this land for the previous owner. When the owner aged and had no heirs, Akhi offered to buy it. In a fairytale twist, the owner agreed and let Akhi “work off” the land. Years of dedication turned this dream into reality—and you can feel that heart and care throughout the property. Highly, highly recommend. This place is a gem that lets you feel both cared for and completely connected to nature.

Weekend Trip to Honey River - The Hearth

Was a great experience, we lived in the lap of luxury. Justin had made his home into a beautiful spa day in the woods. He was very responsive to all our questions, the accommodations were clean, cozy and very comfortable, the hot tub was divine, and we were nearby a beautiful collection of hiking and swimming spots along the Yuba River. 5 stars!!
