Sites are spread around on the east side of the property facing the river for beautiful river views while you sip coffee from your site. There are a multitude of recreation opportunities to enjoy. On site there is hiking, places to practice yoga or meditate, kayaking, paddle boarding. We also have a hammock veranda that is fully shaded and a great place to relax along the river. Miles of biking paths run on the road right by where we are situated and there is a nearby river rafting company if you want the white water experience. Most of our campers are road tripping, getting away from LA, or are looking for a stopover on their way to/from Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, etc. We are in a desert climate – cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Portable heaters or fans with misting options are available for rent.

3 nights at "paradise is within you"

This place is special! It is glamping at its finest. The setting by the river is beautiful, the outdoor kitchen makes cooking fun and easy and the yurts v comfortable. There is so much to do on this property from exploring the river and swimming holes to reading and napping in one of the many nooks by the river. Just spectacular. Kenneth has really made this a retreat.

Weekend Trip to "paradise is within you"

We spent two nights at this retreat, and it truly felt like discovering a hidden paradise. At first, we weren’t even sure we’d find it, as it’s tucked away in a quiet mountain pass – but once we arrived, that sense of seclusion became one of the best things about the stay. Our tent was spacious and comfortable, and the whole area radiated peace and calm. After a long day of hiking, nothing compared to stepping into the warm sauna and then plunging into the crisp, refreshing mountain river. In the evenings, we sat under the dazzling night sky, listening to the gentle murmur of the water as it carried us into sleep. The place had everything we could have asked for: clean toilets and showers, a small outdoor gym, and a well-equipped kitchen. Mornings came with a few curious wasps buzzing around our breakfast, but they never stung – just a small reminder that in nature, we share the space with its little inhabitants. The mattress in our tent was also a little sunken in the middle, creating a slight dip, but despite that we still slept deeply and comfortably. What really tied it all together was Kenneth, our kind host, who made sure every detail was taken care of and that everyone felt welcome. Thanks to him, and to the setting itself, this retreat felt less like a stay and more like a little escape into another world.

This Glampsite is situated by a Jeffery Pine at the far east side of the property. Zip open the flaps and enjoy the river view. In addition to the 14 acres at Okihi, this site boarders 20 MORE county owned acres you can go explore.

1 night at Okihi- Reimagining The Kern River

Bakersfield has no idea what a gem exists here at Okihi! Just 20 minutes from downtown, you'd never know it as you feel transported to paradise. I've visited Okihi several times, and the vibes are absolutely perfect. The views of the river, sunrises, and sunsets are unforgettable - truly a treasure! The property is teeming with life: goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, horses, native gardens, and natural flora and fauna abound. We even spotted two bald eagles relaxing in a giant tree directly across the river. We had the pleasure of watching Katherine ride her horse, Basil, and feed the animals. It was such a treat to see her guide the sheep and goats from their temporary pasture to their nighttime enclosure, where they're watched over by the dutiful Sky, their guardian dog. Glamping tent was exactly as expected. We loved it!
