Cute little cabin nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe to get to but also away from the Tahoe chaos. Host lives on property , but will most likely be out and about most of the day. There are two neighbors but both own 20 acres so you can not see them, feels very private. The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land. However it is nice to be so close to highway 20 because it leads to several different destinations. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers ) Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Electric fireplace, all the game boards , cards, chess, fire pit, projector for movies if requested!!! •Additional guests are welcome to pitch a tent on the land if needed. •Hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, kitchen appliances, coffee (French press, drip, mocha pot). Black stone grill outside. Fire pit , check if fires are allowed during booking •Separate bathroom with compost toilet or a short walk to outhouse. Outdoor shower in the making, message if available. FUN: •Lake Spaulding is about 1/4 mile hike down from the property. There is a boat launch and plenty of room to park it on the property if you want to bring a boat. Carons Hotsprings and Wally's Hotsprings are both accessible through community (Dart) Transit as well. With the help of my Father Steve, Sandy Gibson built the House of Gibson in 1983/1984. The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend. you can’t hear highway noise while in the cabin and towards the back of the land. ( west : Nevada city. east: towards Tahoe, and both directions there are soo many lakes/ rivers ) Tiny house: •Full sized futon downstairs and king sized mattress in loft. Failure to display the parking permit may result in a citation and fine of $500 to the owner of the vehicle. ● Fireworks, wood fire pits, and charcoal BBQs are strictly prohibited. ● During inclement winter weather either 4WD and snow tires, or 2WD and chains are required to access this Unit. Encompassed by Tahoe & Toiyabe National Forests, this Alpine Valley rolls across 10,000 acres at approximately 5,500 feet with towering mountainous peaks on three of its sides rising above 8,000 feet. A meadow with creeks and wildlife lines the Valley floor. Depending on location, distant peaks in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range rise into view. The private and secluded Camp sits at the edge of the meadow on 40 acres. It offers multiple sites for vista viewing, camping and fire pits set along two seasonal creeks. Available for one camping party's exclusive use, basic camping comforts include picnic tables, metal and stone fire pits, and an out house with a view. Follow the lower creek out from the Camp into the meadow and Valley floor to find a damned swimming hole. Off-road vehicles, dirt bikes, hiking, fishing, water sports, golf, skeet, and the like are available at or near the Camp, as is LTE cellphone and data services. Alpine Valley Campsite is a short distance to Reno, Truckee, Stampede and Boca Reservoirs, and Lake Tahoe. It is located approx. 4.5 miles from Stampede Reservoir, 5.4 miles from the Truckee River in Verdi, and 17 miles from the Boca Reservoir and Truckee River in Truckee. I had an incredibly rejuvenating time at the Scotts Dear Lodge! Krysten went out of her way with little gestures to make the space feel clean, comfortable, and inviting. A home away from home, if you will. It was also incredible waking up with a cup of coffee while it snowed outside! The kitchen was fully stocked with all the supplies you would need to prepare a nice home-cooked meal for yourself, and the wood-burning stove was also a highlight! I recommend this spot to anyone looking for a trip for a small family, couples, or solo adventurers! Don't miss out on this charming spot

We loved this space so much we stayed again on the way home. The steam shower is hot and lovely and feels so luxurious after our long camping road trip. Jo was such a responsive and communicative host and showed up immediately with more propane when the hot water ran out. The lights in the trees make the site so dreamy. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Magical Lost Sierra Bungalow!
Staying at this magical little cabin in the woods was everything you could ask for and then some. We had a great time just enjoying the quietness of the area and just the sounds of the Yuba river. The cabin was beautiful and just felt like staying in a piece of history with how beautiful it was inside and out. Stay here and you wont regret it, only that you didnt book a longer stay.

My husband and I spent one night camping in our camper van. Was very easy to find and access. Spot was perfect, we fit great and even had power. The bath house is stunning and we very much enjoyed the hot tub! Was beautiful and peaceful. Highly recommend!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Absolutely Amazing Stay at Roughlands Campsite! Our stay at Roughlands Campsite was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we arrived, Jo, our wonderful host, made us feel so welcome. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, she even offered us an extra pop-up canopy just in case, and her responses were always so quick and thoughtful. The campsite itself is stunning! set against breathtaking woodland scenery that makes every sunrise and sunset feel magical. The hottub and bathhouse were an absolute treat after a long day of exploring—clean, comfortable, and so well maintained. You can really tell how much care and pride goes into keeping this place so beautiful and inviting. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature with an amazing host who truly cares, Roughlands Campsite is the perfect spot. We can’t wait to come back! Thankyou Jo!

we visited in early october. it's a great spot and jo is a responsive accommodating host! the sunset views were beautiful and a morning soak in the hot tub was excellent. light bedding is provided, so would recommend bringing your own sleeping bag or a heavy comforter for warmth if temps are a bit cooler. we hope to visit again and try out the steam room/shower!

We had a great time at the Shamballa cabin over the weekend! It’s a beautiful rustic cabin in the middle of nature. You’ll get the feel of glamping (only wood burning stove for heat, no bathrooms in the cabin or running hot water (but flush toilet and hot water sink and shower in main house)), but you’ll be staying in a beautiful cabin with comfortable beds, a kitchen to prepare meals and a cozy place to relax. We enjoyed exploring the area and hiking the Dragons nest trail (get ready for some exercise as you go up to the top!). There is so much land to see and we only saw a little bit! I imagine it’s beautiful in the Winter months also! Thank you Adam and we hope to visit another time!

I had a great time glamping on the platform! It was really nice to not have to worry about setting up a tent, sleeping bags, table chairs, etc. This was by far the best bathroom I’ve ever had in any camping experience. Absolutely beautiful and clean shower and toilet. I was also super impressed there was electricity and wifi! I was a big fan of the hot tub, although unless you sit back you do get a view of the other tent decks, and them of you haha. The sites without pre-set up tents were looked nice and I would camp in those another time if I couldn’t book a glamping tent; the string lights at those are beautiful. If I were staying in a glamping tent again, I’d bring my own pillow and a bright lantern, but otherwise felt like the accommodations were perfect. Jo is very sweet and super responsive. Would def come back!

Everything was great! I loved every part of it, it was spacious & just a great place overall. There are other camping sites that are close by (individual tents, two of them) but you’re still pretty far from them. You do share the bathhouse but it’s honestly a nice spot to go when you want be in the woods but not too far from other people. I recommend 100%!
