Villa Macala is 15 minutes from Diamond Valley Lake where you can enjoy a wildflower trail, fishing or mountain bike trails, museum and water park. It is 20-30 minutes to Pachea Trail and Simpson Park where you can enjoy more great hiking and mountain bike trails. It is also a 30-minute drive to Temecula Wine Country.
We have 2 full outdoor bathrooms, one was most recently added at our Elderberry Camp Site (site 1), and is also close to site 4 our Oaks Campsite as well. (Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

We are dog friendly, but to keep our free range animals safe (and we have had them injured or killed by people not recognizing that dogs are predatory by nature), please keep your dog easily under control and on a short leash at all times. Also, because it's not possible to control your dog on a long line, dogs may NOT be tied or tethered anywhere on the property. For the sake of the antique furniture, do not leave your dog alone in the cottage unless they are crate trained and in a crate. If you want to let your dog off leash, 2 blocks down our road (and off property), there is a large scrub field where you can let your dog run free. Thank you for supporting this 501c3 charity where all the revenue goes to support the animals and the large number of dogs we foster from high kill shelters.

While the cottage is only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. The "Hay Barn" cottage is a studio with high ceilings, a beautiful stained glass window, a kitchenette and a rustically chic bathroom. The Hay Barn sleeps 3; one queen bed with a twin pull out. Please let us know ahead of time if you need the pullout and you MUST put the accurate number of people who are staying here. If you have more people in your group and don't want to share, please check out the main cottage, Hammie and the Treehouse in separate listings.
Please keep in mind that we are not a "pretend farm" set up to simply attract people to our facility. This is an actual working farm where shepherdess, Natalie Redding (Nat Geo Wild's, Shear Madness) and her working dogs, Lacey, Lad and Nesta work every day. This means there is dirt, dust, chickens, peacocks, alfalfa, sheep, bugs, and other living beings associated with nature and farm life. People who've not had the opportunity to experience the beautiful and grounding life on a working farm may not understand this. I do stress that if you're an animal lover who is excited about staying at a true working farm, your co-guests may not share your verve. Please let them know there is dirt, dust, very little concrete or pavement, and they will surely leave with dust on their shoes. That said, I'm a frequent Louboutin wearer and I regularly chassé in my stilettos; dirt ground and all.

Weekend Trip to Wine Country Olive & Vine Acres
The family had a wonderful experience glamping in The wine country of Temecula. The host kind, accommodating, and attentive. We were really planning on just having a little home base at the site, but just hanging out in the little farm atmosphere was the highlight of our trip.

Weekend Trip to Mineral Spring Date Farm
Very nice campsite. It was very quiet, secluded, and far enough from the other sites to feel like we were there on our own. The area had everything we needed (showers, nice restroom, communal kitchen utensils) that made it very convenient. Ron was also very nice and helpful the whole time.

This was a great find. Private and cozy. Very spacious yurt tent with two beds and heater, table n chairs in the tent. Plenty of space. Kept warm in January. Our campsite had a hot tub and in ground mineral springs cool tub. Hammock, bonfire pit, tables n chairs already set up. Felt nice and secluded. Private setting. Definitely would come back again. Thanks Ron! Great friendly Responsive host.

I cant recommend this hipcamp more. I am so glad that I stayed here. Each site was very private, and the soaking tub was perfect. You have full control over the temperature, and it can get HOT so be careful! The canvas tent was nice, and the bed was comfortable.
The host was very responsive with anything that I needed.
Highly recommend!

This is such a fantastic place to stay! Definitely a highlight of my many HipCamp trips with others. The place felt perfectly private, was wonderfully scenenic, efficient and had everything we needed. Even with the incredible wind, we slept warm and well in the yurt.

1 night at Mineral Spring Date Farm
My children (14 & 15yr old) came to San Diego from Maryland for winter break and made the trip to Joshua Tree for a day of hiking. We wanted to find a great place to stay nearby and we couldn’t be more happy with our choice.
Our experience was incredible. We made sure to arrive before 4:30pm sunset so that we could see our surroundings. Ron met us at the front and showed us to our yurt and how to operate our natural spring tubs. The yurt and 2 beds had plenty of space for the 3 of us. The setting was gorgeous. We were concerned that it would be too cold to use the tubs since it was December and cold out, but the tubs were so hot and kept us warm even after getting out. We bought firewood on site, which was convenient. We also ordered the ramen which was great so that we didn’t have to bring anything to cook or prepare meals. Our meals were delicious and hit the spot after a long day of hiking in the desert. The bathrooms were a short walk away and lights were motion activated, which made it nice so we didn’t need to bring flashlights with us.
Overall, an amazing time and would love to come back the next time we are here.

My girlfriend and I love this place, this was our second stay with Ron. We stayed at site Date Haven and it might be our FAVE site yet! Super private and it was just PERFECT. Ron was amazing at responding to our every need. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place, we will be back AGAIN!

Weekend Trip to Mineral Spring Date Farm
We stayed two nights. Some highlights include the comfortable bell tent, date trees, ramen, date shake and mineral spring tub. All of this plus more made for a comfortable, relaxing, and unique glamping experience. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. We went to Palm Springs for a few hours as well- it's a short drive away. We'll definitely be back.

Tent was everything you would want- great for summers there is air conditioning. Chilly at night (we went in during winter) though there is an option to pay extra for heater. Overall amazing great spot!
I do wish the hot spring tub was hotter - though my girlfriend thought the temperature was perfect

Ron and Myung are great hosts. We didn’t have super high expectations, but the sites they put together are comfortable, private, and pretty cute nestled in the date palms. The hot tub water is nice and hot and we would definitely stay here again. We saw a bobcat, road runners, and there was a great horned owl hooting outside our tent at night. If you want something polished feeling with matching sheets and towels, go elsewhere, but we appreciated the thrift store and DIY aesthetic at the sites.
Also, Myung’s ramen was delicious and more food than we could finish in one sitting.

Very happy with the stay. Stayed for one night on a Sunday. Enjoyed the pool & jacuzzi (not heated) in the day time very refreshing on a hot day. Enjoyed our private space, tent with King bed, fire pit, and of course the private hot mineral spring pool. Ron is very communicative. Everything simple, no stress. Just what the doctor ordered, thank you!

Ron has a perfect setup for those looking for a camping upgrade, a definite glamping experience!! We loved the privacy and our very own tub with warm mineral spring water and an option for a hot tub at our site. Ron provides the right amount of hosting and was always available to answer questions. We can’t wait to find an excuse to come back.

We a great weekend enjoying the hot spring tub. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. They have firewood available and ramen for dinner so we didn’t need to leave the camp. The tent is spacious with a memory foam bed, air-conditioning, and electricity. Would definitely return!
