The camp host David was so welcoming and made it a wonderful experience! The camp site is so much more beautiful in person than the pics can even express. It’s easy access to your car and bathroom, but you feel so secluded in your own little world in this hidden gem among the trees. Gorgeous views from the site and more if you want to explore on a few trails. There’s an outlet and fresh drinking water at the site so you’re not going without. The tent pad was just big enough for my 5-person tent, you couldn’t fit any bigger. Two picnic tables under the trees for shade, a cooking fire stove then a fire pit for s’mores and hotdogs. I can’t wait to go back, a lovely place!

Weekend Trip to Mineral Spring Date Farm

One of the best glamping experiences I’ve ever had. The entire setup was a 10/10—from the moment I arrived, everything felt thoughtful, seamless, and peaceful. The space offered total privacy, and I felt completely safe throughout my stay. I originally booked just one night, but ended up extending my trip because the first night was that good. The water is pristine, the tents are incredibly comfortable, and the setting is perfect for recharging. Ron is a fantastic host, and his wife made me the best ramen I’ve ever had—and I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Japan, so that’s saying something. I’m so grateful for the experience and only wish them continued success as they grow this beautiful offering. Thank you again—hope to be back soon.

I can't say enough good things about Jacob's land. I stayed in the Coyote Cabana and loved it!! I could lay in bed and watch the fire. The beds were comfortable and enough blankets for a cold night. The community kitchen and bathrooms were stocked and clean. I was excited to learn, and Jacob graciously taught me, about the pizza oven. Jacob was welcoming and kind and his passion for the land showed. I am thankful for my experience!

Weekend Trip to Campo Nopalito

Jacob is a fantastic and welcoming host. It’s fun to open up the side of the A-frame and enjoy the views from the comfort of the bed or deck. The well stocked kitchen had everything needed to make great pizza - just add dough and your toppings of choice! We’ll be back!

Weekend Trip to Thundering Hawk Retreat

We booked the Breakthrough campsite for my birthday. The flowers already bloomed. The view is beautiful. Lance was very accommodating and helpful. There is a Mr. Heater already in the yurt. We turned it on for a few minutes to toast the inside of the yurt. We slept nice and warm for the rest of the eve. We brought our sleeping bags and blankets. We paid for the propane which is a great option if you don’t feel like lugging it with you in your car. The table and chairs were great. You don’t need to bring your own. The gas fire kept us toasty. The port-a-potty was very close. I highly recommend the experience!

I would highly recommend camping here! Our spot (oak grove) was very private and secluded and had a beautiful view of the mountains. The hosts are a down to earth, kind, and genuine couple who will welcome you warmly and make sure you have everything you need. They have several bath houses, each with a toilet, shower, sink, soap, shampoo, bee sting and first aid kits, literally anything you could need. I would highly recommend doing a tasting and trying their olive oil products as well as their jams and jellies, you won’t regret the experience. I will absolutely be returning here soon with friends, it was an awesome experience that was made even better by the most amazing hosts. They are a hardworking couple who are proud of what they have accomplished and it is so interesting to hear about their land, their products, and their family.

The hip camp at Macala Orchard was more than we could have imagined. The staff was amazingly hospitable, from the tour upon arrival, to the attention to detail for our accommodations, we were delighted. Our family enjoyed the views, the knowledge gained about the orchard/vineyard from David, the kindnesses extended to us and getting to purchase the award winning olive oil and jam, bringing a piece of it back home with us. The family was easy to work with and we would do it again in a heartbeat!

Copies of our rules, registration documents, liability waiver and amenities are provided in our photos. Guests must agree to adhere to our rules and honor our cancellation policy to book with us. If you have any questions, please make an inquiry and we will get back to you very quickly. We really do love this work. LOCATION: We are located one mile down a well maintained and navigable dirt road, 20 minutes to Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Palm Desert, and 15 minutes to the 10 freeway. We're near the Cabazon outlets, 2 hours to Los Angeles, San Diego, Disneyland, mountain areas, and beaches. Nearby there are local wildlife preserves, hiking and outdoor activities. We are 45 minutes to Joshua Tree and a half hour to Coachella. We truly are in the middle of nowhere and the center of everything. For folks traveling in winter, we’re considerably warmer than Joshua Tree and the High Desert. In summer we are cooler than Palm Springs. Immediate neighbors are small farmers and ranchers. Local spas and resorts are available for day use and access to their pools and ponds for as little as $10 a day ($5 seniors). We can provide space for events and entertainment for a small fee. ARRIVAL: Upon approving your reservation we'll send you a welcome message with information we need prior to your arrival to process your reservation, prepare for your arrival and provide you with check in information and accurate directions as gps apps to our location are often wrong. Please answer that initial email as soon as possible. We'll follow up with check in information and driving directions. Once in the gate, stay on the driveway and meet us on the patio with the blue shade sails. We will provide you with an approximately 15 minute orientation and tour, register you, check identification and show you to your campsite. Guests are required to fill out a liability waiver and a simple registration form. (See photos for copies of these forms.) OUR SPACE: Our land is 130 feet wide by an eighth of a mile deep in a residential neighborhood with lots 2.5-10 acres. We can see and hear our neighbors. We maintain a very quiet space but occasionally our neighbors have their own activities and events. Let us know if the neighborhood gets too noisy and we'll try to mitigate those situations. We can also provide free earplugs for those very rare occasions. Guests wanting a totally isolated experience may want to book elsewhere. DragonflyHill Desert Farm is a working farm in a wilderness area. Guests should check weather forecasts prior to arrival and assure that they have the right equipment. We have a moderate cancellation policy that allows guests to cancel 3 days prior to their arrival date to receive a refund. This allows enough time to check weather reports. There are occasional heavy rains and frequent high winds. It can get very hot in summer and reach freezing temperatures in winter. Despite our proximity to the freeway and nearby cities, and our location in a residential neighborhood, this is very much a wilderness area. DragonflyHill is not responsible for the weather. We are not a resort. Expect dry plants and patches during summer and into the fall. As a farm, we may be a bit more rustic than your typical farm to allow for shelter for local wildlife. Our cultivation methods encourage biodiversity and though we are growing food, many of our crops resemble landscaping or natural habitat rather than garden patches. Currently we have habitat viewing areas, an herb garden, an orchard, an outdoor classroom, a sheltered social distancing patio, an outdoor kitchen, meditation gardens, our (seasonal) mineral pool, community library, game boards and toys, and a tree bath. Plant varieties, wildlife and presentation may vary by season. Our farm specializes in herbs, fruit trees, desert and native plants, and edible flowers. We also grow some sprouts and microgreens indoors. We cultivate community and share what we grow with our neighbors and our guests. Guests have shared access to the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, the orchards, gardens, patios, and grounds of the Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat, and (for safety reasons) limited access to the pool pond and spa -both unheated. The pool pond is filled with local mineral water from our own well. The pool pond is cleaned regularly & is chlorinated. The pool pond is not cleaned daily and is shared with wildlife. including bees and birds who drink water pool side. Debris from high winds and wildlife may contribute to the pool pond environment. Currently neither the pool pond nor the spa is heated. We also have wheelchair accessible hot water outdoor showers and wheelchair accessible porta potties. The pool area is accessible to guests year round but the pool itself is winterized and unavailable from mid October through mid to late April. We work hard to keep the home well maintained & clean; we're vigilant & do due diligence with professional quarterly visits from Truly Nolen 4 Season Pest Prevention (a green company.) We doubt you'll see any unwanted critters inside or near the house or other structures during your stay, but if you do, please advise us & we will promptly address the situation. DragonflyHill Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat is in a remote area of the desert with lots of wildlife. To help us keep wildlife OUT of the house and campsites, please keep food out of reach of critters & clean up after every meal. We affirmatively welcome children, but as this is a working farm in a wilderness area, parents will need to be vigilant of their child's safety and activity while here. We are constantly adding activities and features for children and adults. We are child friendly and we are a good location for groups. (Just message us with your details and we can tailor your stay to meet your needs.) We have 1 cat and 1 service dog. Other guests may have pets or assistance animals. Neighbors have chickens, farm animals and pets. There are a few feral cats in the vicinity as well as a variety of desert wildlife. At night you can hear the coyotes though we’ve never seen them or their tracks on our land. Common sightings of road runners, rabbits, hares, lizards, snakes, hawks, doves, desert wrens, migrating ducks (in the Spring), scorpions, mantises, crickets, mockingbirds, insects and spiders. WHO WE ARE: DragonflyHill is a community of artisans, activists, craftspeople and farmers, working together to cultivate community, develop methodologies for living and working together in ever increasing paradigms of social justice and sustainability. We are a safe and sober space that is disability and LGBTQIA affirmative, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-imperialist and de-colonialist, because anything else is just a bandaid. Core values of our work include attention to detail, fine craftwork and cultivating community. Some members of the Dragonfly Team live on the premises at all times and will be here for the duration of your stay. The rest of the team are community members. All Team members work at DragonflyHill Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat in different capacities, in cooperation and collaboration with each other. It should be noted that we are not a museum community and our collective is not on display. Only 2-3 members of the community are currently responsible for hosting guests. Community members are autonomous and, much of our community functions virtually. We purchased Namaste Farms in 1997 when I was showing reined cowhorses as well as raising thoroughbred racehorses. In 2005, I purchased my first wool sheep and fell in love. Today, Namaste Farms is recognized around the globe for raising high quality wool producing sheep. While sheep are the primary animals at Namaste Farms, there are countless other animals, both four legged and feathered!NOTE: Namaste Farms is a true working farm with copious amounts of sheep, goats, chickens, peafowl, and countless other animals. Know, you're supporting a 501c3 charity and all the revenue goes to support the animals.This booking is for the Treehouse, and while it's only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres, and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs and California Ranch Company. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. If horses or golf isn't your thing, you can visit Temecula Valley wineries which are all ~ 1/2-3.8 miles of the cottage gates. The wineries are not within walking distance of each other, UBER is only too happy to come here and pick you up! If you're not interested in any activities and simply want a "staycation," you can hang out here where you're welcomed to walk around the farm and interact with the animals. If you want a true immersive, farm experience, ask about our add-on experiences including grooming the animals, helping at feed time, and cleaning their pens! There's plenty of great space to ride your bikes, and it's proven to be a hit with the kiddos! The Airstream is new to the ranch and is a work in progress, but you'll love the charm of hanging out in a very cool vintage trailer. We'll soon be adding some layers of paint, shine, and lots of love, so make sure to follow our progress in fixing the ole girl up! Our location is also unique because we are fully fenced in and have a separate turn out space for your horses (check add-ons for camping with your horse). We also have a small 1954 Camper ("Lucy") that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on). **WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: We can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn't meet ADA standards. Welcome to Olive Rock Ranch! Our unique property is nestled on 19.35 acres in Aguanga. This hilltop location has endless views of Dameron Valley and the Palomar Mountains. Come sit and relax on your patio overlooking the stars and sunsets. Our property features an olive grove farm with plenty of hiking trails. You can explore nature at its best with our natural habitat full of quails, white tail rabbits, and natural vegetation. We love animals as well and have horses, ducks, and chickens roaming onsite. We have many nearby points of interest including the Palomar Mountains where you can get outside to take a hike or explore. We are driving distance from Julian, CA where you can check out their famous pies! We are also close to Borrego Trails where you can run and recreate and we’re only 2 miles from Emerald Creek Winery where you can kick back afterwards. Lastly, we are only 18 miles from downtown Temecula and all food and activities they have to offer. Even though we are near to activities you can find great things to do on our property as well. You can explore our 20 acres and hike through the olive groves all afternoon. You can also feed the chickens, ducks, and horses or head out the gate where you can find miles of dirt roads to roam. You can expect some natural noises during your stay. At a distance sometimes you’ll hear coyotes, owls, and the wake-up call from the rooster. Occasionally you will hear a donkey call in the distance. Your hosts live on site and usually plan to meet and greet as needed. Once you are settled you will have plenty of privacy, but we are on-site in our private home and could be reached if needed! This listing is for our spectacular yurt tent set and an RV site called the stables up on 20 acres in a secure and safe olive grove with plenty of privacy. You can expect spectacular views of the valley below, the Palomar mountains and relaxing sunsets under a beautiful blanket of stars. Our main house is about 600 feet from the site, but you will enjoy your own outside shower, compost restroom, picnic table, propane BBQ, large cooler, and fire pit! The tent accommodates up to 4 people and an additional person could bring their tent and set up on the site as well. On our 5 acres, we currently house horses, mini donkeys, a mule, goats, sheep, pot bellied pigs, chickens, ducks, a turkey and a huge African Tortoise.Pitch a tent on our 5-acre property and spend some quality time with our menagerie of rescued animals. We are within a few miles of many hiking trails, as well as horse riding trails. What a wonderful experience from the time we stepped out of the car to when we left. The place is kept immaculate. They feed these beautiful creatures the best food, they all have names, and are loved. ❤️ Camping was fun for the (4) of us, myself, 60 yrs. my son, his girlfriend and their 2 1/2 yr. old son. We enjoyed roaming the campus spending as much time as we could with the animals. The owners are there for your questions, (right away), and they leave you alone to enjoy your time. I would recommend this camp to anyone who loves animals and camping."
