A ranch of nearly 100,000 acres jointly owned by Marion Clark and Croydon Cooley a U.S. army scout. According to legend, sometime around 1876, the partners decided that there was not enough room for both of them and one of them should leave. They decided to settle this issue over a game of "Seven Up" (with the winner taking the ranch and the loser leaving.) After the game seemed to have no winner in sight the game reached it's climax when Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." At this point Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs, and declared "Show Low" it is! Show Low is a city in Navajo County, Arizona among the lush green ponderosa pine forestland and along Arizona's Mogollon Rim at an elevation of 6,345 feet. Show Low is now the largest city in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona. Show Low is also the business hub and marketing center of the area. Ash Creek Canyon is more than a place to camp — it’s a hidden world reopened after nearly a century of quiet. Tucked within the Tonto National Forest, this privately owned canyon and historic mining town have remained untouched by the public since 1945. Today, the gates are open once again, inviting adventurers to experience one of Arizona’s most pristine and biologically rich landscapes. Here, towering canyon walls cradle lush greenery, native wildlife, and the gentle flow of Ash Creek as it winds through the valley. Scenic campsites sit along the water’s edge, offering peaceful views and direct access to hiking trails that lead through diverse ecosystems recognized by Arizona Fish & Game for their exceptional biodiversity. At the heart of the canyon lies Chrysotile, a long‑forgotten mining town frozen in time. Its remnants add a sense of mystery and history to your stay — a rare chance to explore a piece of Arizona’s past in a setting few have ever seen. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or experiencing the outdoors for the first time, Ash Creek Canyon offers a blend of tranquility, adventure, and discovery. Set up your tent beneath star‑filled skies, wander through untouched wilderness, or simply relax beside the creek as the canyon walls glow at sunset. This is nature at its most authentic — a place where adventure meets peace, and where every visit becomes a story worth telling.

Welcome to Juniper Hollow — a privately owned residential property offering peaceful overnight parking in a quiet rural setting and a convenient base for exploring Arizona’s beautiful White Mountains. Located in a forested neighborhood about 20 minutes from Show Low, Juniper Hollow provides a quiet, off-grid setting for travelers looking to spend the night in a peaceful, natural environment. The property is being thoughtfully improved over time, with plans for additional landscaping, walking trails, and a forest sitting area where guests can relax, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and stargaze. At this time, we welcome smaller self-contained vehicles, including cars, trucks, camper vans, overlanders, truck campers, small RVs, and other compact vehicle-based travel setups. Because of our driveway layout and available space, the maximum combined length of your vehicle and setup is 25 feet. We currently offer two parking spaces on a large gravel pad, with plenty of room to relax and enjoy the surrounding landscape. Guests are also welcome to use the nearby sitting area or follow the path to the forested area at the back of the property, where you can enjoy the junipers, take in the peaceful surroundings, observe local wildlife, and experience Arizona’s beautiful dark skies. As this is a newly purchased property, landscaping and other improvements may be taking place during your stay. Some areas of the forest remain closed while work is being completed. For everyone’s safety, please remain within designated guest areas and do not enter closed sections of the property. The property is fully fenced and easily accessible via maintained county roads, providing both privacy and convenience. A grocery store, convenience store, and fuel station are approximately 6 minutes away, while restaurants, shopping, and other services in Show Low are about 20 minutes away. The host lives on the property in a tiny home and is available if needed while respecting guests’ privacy. A friendly corgi also calls Juniper Hollow home and may occasionally stop by to say hello. Pets: One approved pet is permitted per booking/parking space. Please review the Pet Rules for the space you are reserving. Before Booking: Please take a moment to review the Property Rules and Pet Rules under “Additional Rules.” This helps ensure that Juniper Hollow is a good fit for your travel style and expectations.

Beautiful sunsets and vistas in a Juniper and Cedar forest. My husband and I live on the adjacent 10 acres with a very spoiled pair of horses and a flock of ducks and chickens. A single RV space with full hook ups is available year round on the front 10 acres. We are happy to be in the beautiful Arizona high country, proud to be caretakers, and willing to share with people who love the outdoors as well. We are located in the foothills of the White Mountains a short distance from hiking, equestrian and mountain bike trails, and an extensive OHV trail system. State and municipal parks in the Show Low area offer fishing and paddling. There is a walking trail on the 10 acre property to exercise kids and pets. Sunrise Park resort is about an hour drive to the south and the Petrified Forest lies about an hour to the north. If you are looking for an overnight stop, the property is approximately a 12 minute drive from AZ SR 77, between Show Low and Snowflake. The last mile to the property is dirt road. Dogs are welcome but need to be leashed for safety reasons. We have a variety of wildlife sharing our space, most commonly rabbits and coyotes, but hawks, owls, deer, badger, snakes and other desert creatures are possible. This site is still under construction, and until we complete our Fire Ring, campfires will not be permitted. Horses are welcome as well. If you have portable corral panels you are welcome to to set them up in the riding arena adjacent to the to the campsite. A second water source is close by. We try to be good stewards of the land and good neighbors.
