Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, two Goats, a Duck and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

The Dry Bones Live (Ezekiel 37). The first visit in 2019 to this 21 acres was both a shock and a confirmation. It had everything on our check list and more - nearly flat land, convenient location, but also twice the acreage, a roadbed, diversity, Monarch butterflies everywhere, access to a big lake.....and it was littered with logs!! They were in piles and scattered everywhere. But this particular land was being placed in my hands to steward and to reveal the creativity and loving nature of Yahweh. And that meant not bulldozing or burning the logs. Instead, the task was to breathe life into the logs and the land through gentle stewardship to protect the biodiversity and build good soil. Breath of Life Farm is being regeneratively developed to cultivate elderberries, vineyards, peaches, mushrooms, and small plantations of trees for wood or nuts. My sister, Pam, and I hope that visitors will come to enjoy the seasonal changes of flower colors, watch for foot and hoof prints of wildlife, enjoy the songs of the birds and the frogs, see how many different native mushroom species they can spot, and be marveled by the stars as they sparkle in the dark night sky. Camp Travelhick is located off an easy on/off main road. A small private driveway leads to an automatic 20' wide secure, coded gate. The camp has two level camping sites. Site 1 is a large 40x62 cement site that can accommodate larger campers/motorhomes with full hookups (electric, water, & sewer). Site 2 is a smaller packed gravel site which is 16x32 with electric and water. Both sites have 50/30/amp connections. For your convenience, there is an additional dump station on the property. Our camping area offers a covered pavilion with two picnic tables, lighting, fans, and a charcoal grill. There is also has an outdoor fire pit for those cold nights or for s’mores! The camping area is about 1.3 acres fully fenced in so pet owners can allow their pets run around and have some secure space without having to worry about a leash. Bring your ATV's or side by sides! The back side of the property has almost 50 acres of ATV and walking trails. A spring fed private 1.5 acre stocked pond with a covered and lighted boat/fishing dock is also located on the property. Covered fishing dock has benches for getting out of the sun and relaxing. Property is less than 15 minutes from a Walmart, Lake Eufaula, many chain/local restaurants, parks, and museums. Property owner is not on site, but is just a phone call/text away.

We tent camped for 3 weeks in November and Dave was extremely accommodating for our 3 week stay in November. Don't skip the hot tub! For van lifer types this is an ideal location. Good cell reception and a quiet atmosphere. There were extremely few insects and the sunset over Mobile each night is a brilliant orange. We used the YMCA Express in Spanish Fort for showers, gym, infrared sauna, and as a coffeeshop. it has a table area with outlets for laptops. The day pass there is $10.

The host was very nice and made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed the campsite and had a blast. The hiking trails off of the site were just challenging enough to make it exciting, but not impossible for people with little experience. I’d highly recommend the zoo near the site. We were at the bobcat tent site and could hear the lions and hyenas at night from our campfire. Highly recommend!

1 night at River Life Camping in Alabama

We cannot say enough about how beautiful Vikrum’s land was. It was so peaceful and quiet and the river view and beaches were amazing. We had a little difficulty finding the initial turn off from the dirt road but the GPS directions lead us right to it. We just didn’t listen to them 🙄. The trail to the campsite was totally passable for a Tacoma and a grand Highlander. We loved it and so did our pups! We will totally be back. Thank you for a wonderful little break from reality!

We decided to camp here last minute, and we loved it! The view was great, we were secluded and it felt like we were in our own little place. It was very relaxing, and the owners were very kind to not only us, but my kid too. ( Bonus points for Zed for tricking my fiancé into running to beat his lawnmower 🤣 ) we try to camp at a new location every trip, but we are already planning on being back here! We were the first campers there, and were able to choose our spot! You can also purchase wood and they will bring it to the spot of your choosing!

It was a great time camping at Dark Hollow. Danny met us right when we arrived and showed us around and since we were the first ones there for the day he let us choose the exact site we wanted. Zed was also great and was there whenever we had a question or needed anything. The views were great, the hike to the creek at the bottom was easy, and the add on firewood extra was definitely worth the $15. Would stay at Dark Hollow again!
