Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet (portable-potty) for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (two Donkeys, two Goats and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from barking during the night. We also host three AirBnBs, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

Conveniently situated just off Cullman County Road 222, our campsite is within a quarter mile of two gas stations, two independently owned stores offering short-order food options, and a Dollar General. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime. Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point. Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited. The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Strawberry Festival in April, Octoberfest in October, and Christkindlmarkt in November & December.

Weekend Trip to Heart of the Country

This was a great find. The place was very quiet. Dave greeted me when I got there, really nice guy, and it’s basically a pick your spot when you get there based on whether you’re using electric or not. Dave showed me what areas I could choose from since I didn’t need any amenities. It was a nice flat area in the shade for my campervan. I didn’t hear any noise from anybody else all night or even in the morning. Definitely recommend. I’d go back if I’m ever back in the area. He also has two donkeys, two goats and some chickens down the road a little when you drive in so it was nice to pet some of them.

Beautiful property with nice amenities, but our site wasn’t waters edge, or even water view, and it didn’t have WiFi or even good cell signal, which was pretty disappointing since it was advertised as having those things.

Our stay at Red Coach was flawless. Communication was great; we knew right where to go. We liked our campsite (A-15) as it overlooked a woods area and not another camper. We would definitely return in the future.

We had a great view of the water and mountain from our site. We loved letting our dog run and socialize in the fenced-in dog park. And the showers were fantastic. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

The excellent welcome by the courteous host to this idyllic location refreshed the soul of this itinerant visitor. Not once did the donkeys or roosters awaken me too early. [With a little gentle persuasion, one may be able to provoke the host to run an extension cord out to "Boondocker 1 -No Electricity"].

Weekend Trip to Red Coach Resort & RV Park

a–12 Clean and quiet campground. Nice amenities. We would love to come back in the warmer months to use the swimming hole. Kids loved the playground. I never could get the Wi-Fi to have a good signal, but that is the only issue we had during our stay. Anytime I reached out to staff they answered the phone and were accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Dave’s place is a hidden gem. Plenty of room and he goes out of his way to meet your camping needs. Easy to locate and quiet but just a few miles to town. Other campers present and everyone very friendly. Enjoyed the community fire pit but there are pits at some of the sites as well. Would definitely recommend.
