Welcome to CAMP 222, a private campground nestled on approximately 1 acre of land adjacent to Lewis Smith Lake in Cullman, AL. During the months of December - March, guests must either have a camper with a restroom or bring their own camp toilets. Conveniently situated just off Cullman County Road 222, our campsite is within a quarter mile of two gas stations, two independently owned stores offering short-order food options, and a Dollar General. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime. Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point. Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited. The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Strawberry Festival in April, Octoberfest in October, and Christkindlmarkt in November & December.

You may read about mosquitoes in some of our past reviews, but I am happy to share that we now have a monthly mosquito service in place that has mitigated that issue :) Learn more about this land: Our intention for this artist community is to bring like-minded people together and make the world a more beautiful place. It serves as our primary residence and also residence for seasonal workers&traveling artists when they come here. Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet (portable-potty) for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (two Donkeys, two Goats and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from barking during the night. We also host three AirBnBs, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

This was a great find. The place was very quiet. Dave greeted me when I got there, really nice guy, and it’s basically a pick your spot when you get there based on whether you’re using electric or not. Dave showed me what areas I could choose from since I didn’t need any amenities. It was a nice flat area in the shade for my campervan. I didn’t hear any noise from anybody else all night or even in the morning. Definitely recommend. I’d go back if I’m ever back in the area. He also has two donkeys, two goats and some chickens down the road a little when you drive in so it was nice to pet some of them.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Acres Getaway LLC.

Rodger’s property was just lovely! It was exactly as described. He was a very responsive and personable host, who clearly wants people to feel comfortable and happy at the site. It’s a small and quaint campsite, if you are looking for something not as big as an RV park or giant state park. The campsites are quite big and spread apart, so you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. I definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

Beautiful property with nice amenities, but our site wasn’t waters edge, or even water view, and it didn’t have WiFi or even good cell signal, which was pretty disappointing since it was advertised as having those things.

Rodger was fantastic! He contacted me immediately after I booked (my notifications were off, so wasn't aware) ... it was so nice to be advised in advance of what to expect. I feel that his description & check in procedures were exactly stated. He offered additional site information based on his current occupancy & we really appreciated his "real-time" assessment. We selected this site based on location. It was an easy access to Greenville, Scottsboro, Chattanooga & Hwy 59 (when we departed). We would definitely stay again & recommend to our fellow campers.

We had a great view of the water and mountain from our site. We loved letting our dog run and socialize in the fenced-in dog park. And the showers were fantastic. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
