Weekend Trip to Caney Hollow Creek Retreat

We had such a wonderful time camping at Lindsey’s property! My fiancé and I, along with our two dogs, stayed for just one night but it was truly memorable. The land was peaceful, spacious, and perfect for exploring — we especially loved hiking along the nearby creek with its crystal-clear waters. The lack of artificial lights preserved the natural beauty of the night sky, making for some incredible stargazing. Even though our stay was short, it was incredibly special, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Next time, we hope to bring family and friends to share in this beautiful experience. There were only 3 sites on a large meadow bordered on one side with a creek. The property was surrounded by trees and farmland. We were the only ones there. Very quiet and restful. Lindsey was a great host and very patient with me as I had trouble registering through the app. Which it turned out to be user error. What can I say.

When you want a primative site, this site has desireable qualities: Close to level, secluded, quite, peaceful, close enough to paved road. They have significantly recovered from nearby tornado damages.

We had a great time camping here. The land is very secluded and quiet. The owners offer a wide range of activities for families and those who are interested in archery! My husband and I took advantage of the archery set up. The small bathhouse has everything you need to get cleaned up including private full bathroom with toilet, shower with hot water, sink and storage to place your items. Everything was kept clean as well. Mary and her husband were great hosts and were available to help us as needed. They also gave fun suggestions for things to do in the area as our original plans had been cancelled due to rainy weather. If we are ever back in the area, we will be camping here again!

This was a perfect spot for us on our trip to watch Ultimate Frisbee at the Jack Allen park just a few miles away. The couple that met us were super friendly and helpful. My wife is not a big camper but she was glad to have bathrooms available not far from our camp. We would certainly stay again.

We absolutely loved camping in the Enchanted area. There was a little pond so our boys and dog enjoyed the scenery. It was very peaceful! 10/10 recommend for a weekend getaway.

Great spot off a country road and very easy to find. Some traffic that goes by but not bad a t all. Plenty of firewood available. The outhouse was a nice luxury to have available. I will be back.

2 nights at Sunset Ridge

We had a great time camping at Sunset Ridge lot 3. There are some houses and shops/garages in viewing distance of all of the spots but that wouldn't stop us from staying there again. We had plenty of space to set up tents and play lots of games. We were able to pull the car right up to the spot which was nice. Daniel was very friendly and reached out to us to letting us know where we could get firewood. We felt very safe and would stay there again.

Weekend Trip to Bates Farm

Mary took us on a tour of the land and it was truly impressive. We are looking forward to camping here. We are allowed to find anywhere on the 45 acres to put down and set up. They will bring us a picnic table and fire pit and sell us wood since we are on motorcycles. Bath house is on-site!

Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio. This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials. Its slopes are threaded with forgotten wagon paths, foot-worn trails, and the slow, unrelenting work of water. Caves open like cracks in time. Small waterfalls cut through dense forest and vanish into the ground. Towering trees—oak, hickory, and poplar—form a green cathedral overhead, filtering light in ways that feel reverent. In some pockets, the air still carries the chill of the earth itself. Beneath the surface runs a deeper story. Long before Huntsville pushed east, Monte Sano offered its elevation to the sick, the curious, and the stubborn. Tuberculosis patients came in the 19th century, seeking healing in the mountain’s clean, dry air. Naturalists cataloged rare plants here. Native peoples traveled and camped across its ridgelines, long before names were given or boundaries drawn. And yet, despite the time that has passed, the mountain remains unpolished—intact. For those who seek true solitude, a few primitive campsites are available through Hipcamp. These are not curated experiences. There are no toilets. No showers. No host waiting with coffee or gear. Just a trail, a flat spot in the woods, and the sound of your own boots on rock. It is camping reduced to its essential form: a place to lie down among trees and stars, with nothing between you and the mountain but time. Monte Sano doesn’t posture. It does not cater. It exists—and that, for some, is enough.

Peekaboo Meadows & The Big Red Barn

Learn more about this land: Situated just outside of Columbia, TN (one of the state's most up-and-coming cities) and right on the same road as our 11th President, James K. Polk, once lived - Peekaboo Meadows & The Big Red Barn are waiting to welcome you! Pull in, drive down the grass road and over the small creek, put it in park at the barn and go stretch your legs on the 4o+ acres surrounding. During the day, feel welcome to walk the serene meadows or take a cleared trail up the ridge to the treehouse! Don't be surprised to be greeted by all kinds of wildlife including deer, turkey, foxes, or our goofy, fun-loving Golden Doodle named "Shme." If walking isn't your thing, you are welcome to drive around (4wd recommended) to go scout out where you'd like to set up camp for the night. If you prefer more peace and privacy, there are two beautiful meadows to choose from which both reach deeper into the property. If you'd prefer the comfort of additional shelter, you are welcome to park and/or set yourself up at the barn instead (which is a little closer to the main road). There is power to the barn - providing light, 30AMP power for RV hookup, as well as an electrical receptacle that you can run your extension chords from. For the extra adventurous - you may want to take a hike up "Thornbush Trail," which follows the ridge right up the middle of the property and has beautiful views of both meadows to either side. Or, for a more direct route, take a walk right up our dirt access road to the upper ridge, where you can peek through the treeline for beautiful elevated views eastward toward Columbia. Our treehouse (in progress) is located right at the top of the access road. Though the treehouse has not yet been completed, feel free to climb the 20' ladder up the inside of the hollowed out trunk and pop your head out the top! It sure makes a great photo! Come back to the barn area in the evening to lounge in the hammock, hang out around the picnic table, or cook dinner and roast some marshmallows over the wood burning fire pit with cooking grill attachment (fireside tools & 1 bundle of firewood provided). One filtered and cooled 5 gallon portable Igloo water cooler will also be provided and placed on the picnic table outside the barn. One rolling 96 gallon covered trash bin will be placed inside the barn (please bag your trash). "Luggable Loo" portable compost toilet is also available for use inside the barn. Tho cell & wifi are spotty here on the farm, we will provide one walkie talkie during your stay for direct communication with the main residence, should there be any issues or needs that arise. On the flip side, privacy is respected and use of the electronics is completely at your discretion! For recreation (each within 15-20 minutes of the farm): 1. Williamsport Public Fishing Lakes for fishing or kayaking 2. Stillhouse Hollow Falls Trail 3. Maury County Park with paved walking trail Yummy food: 1. York Hollow

Campsite is located at the base of York Mountain. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent, hang you hammock, or park your camper and enjoy the great outdoors. There are a couple of level spots for your tents, as well as a nice rock fire pit for you to use. There is usually plenty of firewood available and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery. Tents/Table/and cots are available to rent as well.
