Burroman Flat
20 sites · RVs, Tents2650 acres · Brooman, NSWBurroman Flat is roughly 50 acres with 1km of Clyde River frontage. The river is permanent fresh water and has two small waterholes at the upstream end and a much larger water hole on the downstream end. In between are shallow rapid sections, small pools and endless exploring. The banks range from moss covered rocks and grassy sections to shady water gum forest, casuarina trees, river peppermint and blue gum trees.Campsites are spread along a grassy strip that runs approximately 700 meters along the edge of the flat with tracks that go down to the river. The campsites are grass covered in a strip of open forest with native shrubs that add privacy. There is lots of space and shade. To the eastern side of the camp is the open flat and Boulder Mtn. Burroman Creek forms the boundary on the northern side and meets the river at the upstream water holes. The River Road runs north south on the eastern side of the flat. The flat itself is ancient, and very high. The last time it flooded over was in the 70's. The flood in February 2020, just after the fires was 17m and didn't cover the whole flat - the area where the camp sites are did not go under water. The tracks down to the river from the camp area are steep - particularly at the southern end. The least steep are at Site 1 and another near where the toilets and water cell are. This is a very beautiful section of the Clyde River.Kids 16 yrs and under stay for free! The flat and camp sites are 2WD accessible. There is Telstra reception (usually a bar or few) on the flat. For Optus and Vodafone it's less reliable - you may get signal - but if not, on the rise at the road just up from the gate is mostly pretty good. Alternatively about 1.5km from the gate going towards the old town is a high point on The River Road that looks south west. This is one of the better spots without climbing a mountain..

The Sanctuary 2580
17 sites · RVs, Tents500 acres · Boxers Creek, NSWThe Sanctuary's a rugged & beautiful, biodiverse, timeless land of ~500 acres. We are 2.5hrs - Sydney, 1.3hrs - Canberra & 25mins - Goulburn. Access to The Sanctuary is currently best-suited to a 4WD, tradies ute or light truck... although I get in with a 2WD light truck with good luggy rear tyres. The main valley at The Sanctuary, which visitors also travel down to get to the property is also the catchment for George's Creek (as it was on maps in the 1890s) The upper valley is an open uplands floodplain & aquifer recharge zone, with native grasses & herbs, part of a grassy box woodlands ecosystem, with a rich biodiversity incl superb lyrebirds, red & yellow-tailed black cockatoos, sulfur-crested & gang gang cockatoos, owls, possums, echidnas, roos, wallabies, wombats & goannas, wild deer etc.. There’s 5 different sorts of ecosystems on & surrounding The Sanctuary, which in the bigger picture of southeast Australia, all of them endangered due to post-European invasion widespread clearing & climate change. If you look carefully down the eastern side of the upper main valley, you'll find several amazing volcanic pumice-like rock formations that have withstood the geological timescale erosion of the surrounding shale-like rock. This is a large property, but we only use the most accessible ~5-10%, leaving the rest & the wildlife undisturbed. Our boundaries/fences are a bit longer than your average suburban block. The northern fence-line is 2.1 kms long, western ~800m, eastern 1 kms, and southern boundary which is also Jerrara Creek, ~5.6kms. Our elevation ranges from ~590-~768m or 810m above sea-level (depending on which map and survey you believe). This means our nights, even in summer are mostly cool, and in mid-winter 2019, Blue Wren Springs campsite (now closed) got down to ~9.1 ºC. due to climate change certainly a lot warmer than winters 30-40 years ago, getting down to ~15ºC.  There are fire trails you can walk up to our highest points of Mount Anne, and Mount William. Or you could also walk up the Mt Marulan Firetrail to the survey trig point, we prefer you to walk around The Sanctuary and the locals would prefer you don’t drive up to Mt Marulan. A key part of our mission at The Sanctuary is environmental & climate change science education, ecofootprint & environmental governance work with forward-thinking companies, regenerative catchment management, & broadacre Permaculture design & consultancy work. Currently no power, drinking water, toilets or any facilities at all. It's for the self-contained visitor wanting to hang a billy over a fire pit & sizzle sausages over hot coals. Well-behaved dogs welcome, but must be under control at all times! We welcome kids & well behaved dogs, include & respect diversity in most of its forms, including: - cultures, languages, religions & ethnicities, & neurodiverse, ASD, Rainbow/LGBTIQ, (self-sufficient) differently-abled families. But mutual respect for People & Planet is non-negotiable. There is currently NO Camping at The Sanctuary due to Council compliance orders and some diligent whingeing fool. Your visit to The Sanctuary helps us fund the costs of owning the property, paying the rates, & environmental custodianship, including carrying out environmental management, including weed control, fencing, & healing the land via regenerative agriculture, tree planting, stopping soil & gully erosion, etc For low income families we discount the visitor fee and negotiate barter in some sort of farm work :-)Please like our FB page The Sanctuary 2580, but all comms & bookings via the good folks at HipCamp, as they take the hardwork out of websites, payments, insurance etc, making it so much easier for us busy hosts ! :-)

The campsite is at the original 1908 selection block by the late John Pearce (one of the first settlers in the area) and has extensive views. in dry weather you can get here in 2WD towing a small camper trailer. There is a steep hairpin bend so I do not recommend caravans with 2WD vehicles (4WD vehicle and caravan could handle this). "Duck Downs" Snowy Mountains
6 sites · RVs, Tents150 acres · Dalgety, NSWRolling hills, Quite still. Few trees, Much to see. Many granite rocks, Like sheep in flocks. Natural sounds, At ‘Duck Downs’. T.J Wilson We have 3 remote sites and 3 dispersed sites and the property is six kilometres from Dalgety township which is situated on the “Snowy River” NSW. The land was originally once a part of "Marranumbla Homestead". I have called it home since 1995 and now share it with my partner, son, Danish the Whippet, Murphy the Malshi and Finley the cat. The house yard only had 2 trees when I bought it and the house built originally in 1980 still needed completing on the inside. I have worked hard to create an extensive garden in a sometimes harsh environment. It's my peaceful part of the "Snowy Monaro", the property being 155 acres in total. A great place to wander and breath in the fresh air. From the campsites of Varney's View, Panoramic Patch and the Nookie Nook you can take a walk up the hill to the east along our mowed track and enjoy the 360 degree views. Take a picnic in the evening or just a glass of wine and watch the sunset. After dark, relax and toast some marshmallows over the fire pit and discuss what you are going to do the next day. In Dalgety township you can have a meal and catch up with a local at the "Buckley's Crossing Hotel" or take a walk around the show ground, town and along the river reserve where you can have a swim and relax on the riverbank and view the historic Dalgety Bridge circa 1888 across the Snowy River. Then come back in the evening to look for platypus when they come out to play. Visit the local 'Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery' incorporating the 'Dalgety Brewing Company' situated approximately 10km north of the town on the Snowy River or have lunch at 'Tuscany in Dalgety' 2km to the west of town. Take a trip to Jindabyne which is half an hours drive to the west, walk round the lake, visit the 'Jindabyne Brewery', great food, beer, cider and wine or the many other restaurants and cafes in town. Spend some time at the 'Snowy Region Visitor Centre' and the 'Gaden Trout Hatchery' or catch your own trout in the lake or at the 'Eucumbene Trout Farm'. Travel beyond into the mountains and Kosciusko National Park to Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Charlottes Pass. Explore the many walks in the national park including the walk to the top of Mt Kosciusko. Visit the 'Wild Brumby Distillery' enjoy some European fare and locally crafted Schnapps, Gin, Vodka or Gluhwein. Take a day trip through Adaminaby to 'Yarrangobilly Caves and Thermal Pool' in the northern end of Kosciusko National Park, picnic, swim and tour the caves. Visit the "Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and Café in Cooma and learn the history of the scheme. The Centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall including an extensive photographic collection, models, hands-on exhibits and a one of a kind immersive theatre. You will find information about the Scheme such as engineering, the environment, the National Electricity Market, history, water management and power generation. Make it your base camp while enjoying all that the winter season has to offer and lets not forget the skiing and snow boarding of course. Well that's just a sample of some of the things you can do but if all that sounds like too much, just put your feet up and have a rest at your campsite!! There are no facilities here but fresh water is available. Campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. P.S. The annual Dalgety Show is held on the first Sunday in March every year and did you know that Dalgety was one of the sites considered for our country's capital. Telstra 4G coverage on the property, limited Optus coverage.

Clyde River National Park

Cross the bridge north out of town and head to Clyde River National Park, which has 9km of river frontage perfect for water sports such as kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Offering views over the river towards the Pacific Ocean, Holmes Lookout is a great spot for picnics, with the chance to spot birdlife such as kookaburras, colourful parrots and honeyeaters while you’re there.

Birdland Animal Park

Observation Point

Heading south of Batemans Bay, Observation Point is another great lookout and picnic area, with views over the beach and out to Snapper Island.
