Less than an hour from New Haven and Hartford, the campgrounds at Black Rock State Park provide a densely wooded oasis from Connecticut city life, chock-full of creature comforts for the novice camper or fisher (think potable water, toilets, and even a few cabin sites).

Anglers and swimmers can shower off after a day at the adjacent Black Rock Lake, one of the state’s 11 regularly-restocked Trout Parks. In addition to the beach, campers will also find hiking trails that connect to nearby Mattatuck State Forest nearby. And after an activity-filled day, your group can gather around the fire pit and talk urban legends—we hear the park has a rich Native American tribal history.

Hudson Valley is a wonderful 4 season go to location and being about an hour away from New York City you won’t spend hours in the car before being able to stretch your legs.

This place has a relaxed atmosphere and is located near Catamount Ski Resort, Bash Bish Falls, Taconic State Park, Hudson NY, and Great Barrington, MA. If you plan on bringing a pet please be sure to add that fee to your booking under "extras" ($25) If you have additional guest(s) that would like to join you that fee is ($25 a night per person) and you will need to message us about how to arrange that. We have extra easy pop-up two-person tents available to rent ($15 for two nights) you can also find that option under "extras" along with bundles of firewood ($15)

We cannot allow any wood for camp fires to be brought in form the outside for environmental reasons. It can be pre-purchased for $12 per bundle on this site, or $10.00 cash here at farm. Farm Fresh eggs daily when available for $5.00 per 1/2 dozen. There are blankets and pillows are provided, and linens for cabin or trailer sites. Garbage removal is available as well $5 per bag provided.

This is made possible with the support of visitors like you who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved to share and build community with us. The land is conveniently attached to the Appalachian Trail and sits on over 40 acres of preserved woodland forest to explore. The land also features a rustic outdoor shower next to the barn; access to fresh mountain water and a SunMar composting toilet. The main home has two plots for our communal kitchen garden, natural fountain pond of fresh watercress and creeks surrounding the home and property. Peaceful sounds of water and wildlife embrace you in the morning. Fireflies that melt into glistening stars and bright moonlight energize you by night.

The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house. When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here. We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site. We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same. It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property. We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped. One mile away we offer nearby blue mark trails, mountain biking, lake and outdoor activities are at your fingertips and your hosts will be happy to provide any assistance needed to find or enjoy these opportunities. The Creamery (Ferris Acres) is one of the best farm ice cream shops in the East. We can provide breakfast upon request from our free range chickens on our kiwi lined deck with beautiful mountain views. Come and enjoy the croak of the bullfrog and the sound of the crickets. It's car accessible but in close proximity to the Farm. Site #1 & 2 are Hike in sites(1/2 mile). The farm is surrounded by thousands of acres of conservancy and preserve land. Enjoy nature at its finest!! Camp in a field of fire flies or a remote site surrounded by old growth trees and Mt laurel blossoms. This is a Nature Preserve!! Please be kind to the Trees and Wildlife that inhabit the land!!
