Set between Little Hendy and Big Hendy groves, these campgrounds have 43 and 49 spots, respectively. Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. This site is only a 5 min drive to town, so it’s close to the beach, river access and local restaurants and shops.. We have 4 different sites to choose from. 3 sites can accommodate recreational vehicles of different sizes and 1 site is just for tents. Pitch your tent under the redwoods, or in our lovely open area! Pick from one of our private zones nestled in the trees or the open space by our vertical Redwood carving! Large groups are welcome to book all 4 sites and have the property all to your self. Enjoy the cool shade of the redwoods all while being in the sunbelt just 4.5 miles from town of Mendocino! The property has tons of hang out spots! Eat lunch over at the picnic tables, stare up at the stars at our moon gazing bench, or hang out in our communal area, over by the campfire.. We also have an outdoor shower and kitchen sink area that are open to all. The property runs parallel with Mendocino state parks and has plenty of spots to explore! Our main goal is to make you feel at home! Some things to know; -The Mosquitos have arrived! We provide repellant and coils to burn if you need! They're over on the bar by the campfire.. The property backs up to the big river water shed, so theres several creeks behind the property and this year we got some late rain.. There is a seasonal pond on the property as well, but it is treated with an organic animal safe biological to keep larvae from growing, so the pond isn't the issue. Please message us if you have any questions! -Cell service is very spotty onsite. -There is one communal fire pit. We are a place for people experimenting with the new old ways to live with low impact and conservation of our precious resources. We offer affordable accommodations, organic gardening, and education on plants and living simply. We welcome your interest in veganic garden and diet, orchards, and forest trails. Our organic vegetables and fruit may be available if you wish to bring some of our farm to your table. We can offer you a quiet and peaceful place without social pressures if you wish to "decompress" from city life, jobs or any stressful times. Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Butterfly Breathe. Slow way down. Enjoy. Please read this Description in entirety. We are so delighted to share this spot with you. This is a shared campground with 3 separate spots that are relatively private. Host will NOT be there when you arrive unless prior arrangement made. This campground is yours to enjoy. The expectation is 'leave it better than before so the next guests may enjoy! This is camping. BRING YOUR OWN GEAR. Put your own linens and bedding on top of what is already on bed. I can provide linens and bedding for an extra $25 for glamping spots. Beds have pillows on them. There is wildlife. This includes bears and mountain lions in the area. You will not see either but good to be aware they exist. This is a safe 'neighborhood'. We do not have problems with thievery. However, always keep your valuables safe IN YOUR CAR. There is no Power. No WiFi. Cell phone coverage not guaranteed. Depends on your carrier. DOWNLOAD DIRECTIONS AND INFO BEFORE ARRIVING TO SITE. There is Poison Oak. Stay in the designated areas. If you are susceptible, bring and wash with Tecnu. Or use dish soap and wash. Poison oak is an oil. Most importantly: Don't Touch. No Fires allowed during Summer months. Be super careful. No candles. Smoke in fire pit area. Grass is a tinderbox. 1 spark can ignite all. There is a hose connected to kitchen. There is a Pet Fee stay. 1 pet per site allowed unless prior arrangement made. You are responsible to clean up after your pet and to make sure pet is safe and respectful to neighbors. This means you DO NOT leave your pet unattended, and is leashed at all times. If your pet is barking continuously, we ask that you leave. It is not respectful for all other neighbors. Please bring your own bed for your dogs and clean up after a shedding dog if you are indoors. We ask that guests clean up your camping spot upon departure to 'make the place better than before' for the next guests. Butterfly Landing is a sweet landing spot! Birds, butterflies and small wildlife love this spot. The habitat includes many native species of plant life. A pretty knoll that is on the top of a 40 acre property. Views of vineyards, redwood trees, valley floor, and expansive sky. Private, Quiet and beautiful. A central sunny meadow ties together 3 distinct private areas with a communal kitchen, bath-house, picnic-table sitting area and parking on the side. There is 1 outhouse that has a mailbox system to ensure privacy. (Please read manual on picnic table for instructions) Kitchen. 2 burner propane stove, and sink with running water (cold). (Good for drinking. Pressure is low) There is basic cooking and dishware. Cleaning supplies. A Trash and Recycle Bin. And a Compost bucket where all food scraps should be disposed of and then covered with wood-chips. Kitchen should stay clean at all times. Please put dishes away in the tote to keep clean and critter free. Bath-house. Shower with hot water. 1 shared Outhouse. Please use the path that goes to the outhouse (unless you are in the Greenroom) and make sure you put the mailbox red flag up so that others know it is occupied. ((Then don't forget to put it back down!!) Common sitting area. There are 2 picnic tables, Lots of umbrellas that can be moved wherever, a fire pit/table and lots of seating. Parking. There are room for 3 vehicles. Parking is to be in designated parking area please. Sunny meadow and forest shade make this a lovely landing spot to relax and enjoy nature, and a great opportunity to turn off those cell phones!! Butterfly Landing is about 1/2 mile from HWY 128 that runs through Anderson Valley. This location is the perfect location for it all. Wine tasting in the Valley, Navarro River swimming during the summer months, and the Mendocino coast is nearby. This is an Honor system camping spot. We ask that you leave your spot 'better than before', as in 'Leaver no Trace'. I rely on everyone to do their part in the communal kitchen to keep clean and free of critters. SUPER IMPORTANT to put all food scraps in the compost bin. NO food anything in the trash. This is how the bears show up. Please do your part. Thank you so much. It is my honor to share this land with you.

Huckleberry Haven currently features TWO sites: FIRST is the Tent camp deck in the forest. Pitch your tent on a dry and flat deck. Surrounded by huckleberries (in season July-Nov), fir, pine and redwood trees and adjacent to Salt Point State Park and Kruse Rhododendron State Preserve. Deck site has basic amenities: potable well water, fire ring (check to ensure it's campfire season, and bring firewood!), picnic table, and an outhouse. SECOND is the RV camping parking spot. (no tents, please - ground isn't suitable) This site is near the top of our grassy meadow, with glorious forest views, on dry gravel, and features a picnic table & outhouse. It does not have a campfire facility, nor water. You're welcome to bring your own propane fire & cooking source, but NO open wood fires due to grassy fire hazards. Property is situated at 800' above sea level (usually above the fog) across the road from the Stump Beach trailhead in Salt Point State Park - which, from our driveway, is a 2 mile hike or bike ride down to the beach. Enjoy quiet solitude of one of the most private and quiet places on the Sonoma Coast. Avoid the crowds of Salt Point, with all the basic amenities you expect. Birdwatch, play frisbee golf, hunt for mushrooms, basecamp your hikes, runs or mountain bike rides in Salt Point, or use Huckleberry Haven as the central spot to innumerable road bike rides on empty roads. The choice is yours! Special note: Huckleberry Haven is on the edge of some great wilderness! We have all sorts of wildlife sauntering by, and certainly have for decades. We recommend taking precautions to avoid interacting with curious/hungry wildlife - Don't sleep with your food in the tent, and keep camp tidy! We know there to be black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, racoons, skunks and so forth. Mountain Lions tend to avoid us, but you'll want to check on best practices to avoid bear interactions. Beautiful Redwood forrest trails and wild huckleberry's to pick for breakfast or snacks. The river is full of wildlife turtles, frogs, eels & raccoons. Love it!

Loud - lots of people and depending on their camping manners you might be listening to their loud music until 2am and have 15 kids running through your campsite at 5am. Rangers don't really enforce the #of people per campsite or quiet hours. Fun to be near the river though, and is beautiful.

Your shirtless host reporting on Hendy Woods S.P. I think this S.P. is the ultimate escape. This ancient Redwood forests is only about 3 hours from San Francisco. The trees our est. to be 300' tall and could be up to 1000 years old. Hike around the massive stumps and fallen trees and the red wood groves. The day use and the picnicking area is on the banks of the Navarro river-over looking the the Big Hendy Grove. The camp hosts @ this camp keeps the camp sites clean and well maintained. This park has a dump station Make sure you hike the nature trails though out the park. Your shirtless host Steve

Nicely kept campsites with a good amount of privacy. Try to snag a spot on the outer side of the outer road for even more privacy. Good hiking trails from the campgrounds but mostly just to walk amongst the redwoods rather than vertical climbing. Showers are coin operated so bring quarters or save water!

You can't go wrong here! Nearly every single campsite is spacious and flat, though we prefer the ones on the outer perimeter rather than the inside. Bathrooms here are spacious and clean (even the showers)!

Overview

Biking

Four hike-and-bike campsites are available to cyclists visiting the park. For information on riding in the park, contact the park office.

Boating

Motorized boating isn’t really available at this park, but that doesn’t mean you can’t explore via watercraft! Grab your paddle and check out the kayaking and canoeing section of activities.

Fishing

No fishing is allowed within the park, but catch-and-release fishing is possible from the one-lane "Prune Belly Bridge" on the Philo–Greenwood road near the park entrance.

Hiking

Big Hendy has an amazing display of Redwood groves at their greatest. By far the best redwoods in Hendy Woods are in Big Hendy, an 80-acre redwood grove. Big Hendy Trail is a level, 1.6-mile trail that we highly recommend, the Upper Loop is definitely the most impressive part...check it out and frolick around some big a** trees!

Paddling

There are over 20 miles of kayaking or canoeing to be done on the glorious Navarro River. It’s kinda awesome because the river is lined with redwoods and can be completed by a novice paddler. For more info, check out our friends at American Whitewater.

Swimming

Keen for a dip in the fresh mountain water? Well you can jump straight into the Navarro River. This swimming hole is a safe haven when summer temperatures become unbearable.

Wildlife watching

Hendy Woods is perfect for any animal lover! The woods are rich with wildlife such as mountain lions, deer, gray foxes and black bears.
