A unique private home milled glamping cabin designed and built by the host.
Tranquility on the edge of a whimsical forest full of Redwood trees, Pines, Oaks, Hemlocks, Rhododendrons, Ferns, wildflowers and mushrooms.
The cabin is on our 8 acre property, only about 7 minutes to the historic village of Mendocino. Beaches and trails close by and waiting for you to explore!
Hear the ocean waves crashing in the distance, if you listen closely you may even hear the seals chatting. In the spring see the tall brilliant pink rhododendrons bloom. Star gaze at night and listen to the trees talking through the costal breeze while keeping warm by the fire pit, and stay cozy inside the cabin by the mini wood burning stove. Use the tea kettle to brew up a delicious drink to sip. All while making memories to last!Foxfern cabin is a glamping/camping lite experience in a forest (Please read full description).
Hand milled and built by the host. A lot of hard work and detail went into the making of this unique cabin. Windows all around and double french doors open out on the deck for views of the forests edge. Enjoy the campfire out doors and the mini wood burning stove indoors.
You will have complete privacy and won't be able to see the main house from the cabin site. Parking is by a trail with less than a minute walk to the cabin.
The cabin has electricity with limited voltage. It has a ceiling light and an outlet for charging phones and electronic devices. Solar lights are outside along the trail and by the outhouse, they don't last too long since they are in the forest. We suggest bringing a lantern for the trail and the outhouse at night.
The cabin has a loft with a full size bed to fit 2 people. Bring your favorite cozy blanket or sleeping bag for your visit. There is a futon for 2 more guest as well that folds down into a full size bed with attachment. --Don't forget your pillow, sleeping bag or blankets!! We do not provide bedding.
On the side of the cabins wrap around deck is a composting pit outhouse kept neat and clean with a portable sink for hand washing only (Not Potable). Bring your own drinking water. There is no running water at the camp site.
Complementary items included during your stay: Fire wood cut from trees on our property, Easy fire starter breakaway sticks, tea kettle, BBQ and Biodegradable TP.
It's only about a 7 minute drive to the charming historic village of Mendocino, local small shops and restaurants. Close to beaches, trails, surfing, kayaking, biking, horseback riding and fishing. Visit Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, the Skunk Train in Fort Bragg, and Noyo harbor for fishing trips, whale watching and good food!
Full disclosure - We have a Livestock Guardian Dog to protect our chickens and cats from wildlife threats. She is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd named Nula. She does bark at unfamiliar people and vehicles that drive by. While you are visiting she will not be allowed to roam free on the property and will stay contained within our home and backyard. She will not bother you at the cabin site.
