A gorgeous little campground in the upper side of Yosemite Valley, this sits below Half Dome and Glacier Point. Sites are very close together, also wildlife and the rangers can be imposing. Raccoons (furry devils) tried to get into our cars a couple times. Fire only allowed in the valley between 5-10pm, they'll bite at you even a minute early or late (volunteers especially). Good cell service, near a Yosemite Bus stop, on the Merced (good fishing), running water, flush toilets, fire ring, small bear box, and a good Valley Visit.

Bought fire wood at the valley store and it may have been a bit damp -- took a long time for the fire to catch, so come prepared!

Try to be near the river. But it's the valley, so whatever you can get just take it!

Stayed here mid-May for one night - though I was angling for one of the riverside spots (#520 - 526), I was very happy with #515, which is only 30 - 40 ft away from the Merced River. There's plenty of flat ground space for at least three 2-person tents, though you won't get much privacy from other sites. But hey, if you wanted privacy, you wouldn't be camping in a Yosemite Valley campground :)

Avoid any of the sites near the bathrooms - there isn't much in terms of trees / bushes as a buffer.
