Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
At Medicine Creek Farm, we raise grass fed beef and lamb and pastured pork and eggs. We direct-market our food to customers in the Twin Cities and Duluth, primarily through our website. We have been moved and inspired by soil health and what we've learned of regenerative agriculture's ability to heal the land. Hannah manages the daily farm operations, taking care of the animals and moving fences and flocks through the pastures to improve the soil. Meanwhile Jason has been hard at work building our farm infrastructure including our house, shed, remodeled camper trailer, and rebuilding an 1880s timber frame barn where we host our farm stay.

Timber Frame Barn Stay

99%
(64)
Barn · Sleeps 5 · 2 bedrooms · 3 beds · 1 toilet
The Timber Frame Barn sits in the center of Medicine Creek Farm's regeneratively grazed pastures. Salvaged and reassembled from two historic Midwestern barns by farm owner Jason, he has magically kept the soul of these structures intact with exposed posts and beams and clapboard walls, while offering guests modern comforts and clean design.  The "Barn Stay" features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a full kitchen and living room, and personal patio. It is particularly suited for those who would like to escape the city and experience a beautiful natural setting, but prefer full amenities. If you're looking for more of a camping experience, please see our other listing for the Vintage Remodeled Camper Trailer! ----- Medicine Creek Farm is a beautiful expanse of gentle hills and low-lying wetlands on the edge of Minnesota's northwoods. Here, our farm animals live outside in their natural habitat alongside thriving wildlife like coyotes and wolves.  Our rotational grazing system aims to improve the soil, water, and air through a cycle of conscious impact, rest, and regrowth that mimics our earth's natural cycles. We hope your visit will inspire your own rest and regrowth through connection with the natural world. Your support of the farm and our surrounding community allows us to continue thoughtfully taking care of the land and animals. While you're here we invite you to also support and enjoy our local businesses, lakes, trails, and state parks. ----- Sleeping arrangements are suitable for 5 adults and include one split king bed (can be prepared as two single beds if requested), one queen bed, and a bedroll sleep kit for the couch in the living room. We do also have a toddler mattress or two camping cots for children which can be arranged on the floor of the king bedroom. We are unable to get broadband internet to provide WIFI, but we get excellent Verizon cell service. The Barn Stay is fully heated with in-floor heat and a gas fireplace, but does not have air conditioning. There are plenty of fans and screened windows to provide a good cross breeze. Bedding, towels, and toiletries are all provided, but you may want to bring extra beach towels if you'll be enjoying the area lakes and rivers. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, and tableware, and in addition to the stove, fridge, and dishwasher, includes a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and coffee grinder. The pantry includes staples like olive oil, salt and pepper, vinegar, sugar, and some other condiments and dried goods if you find yourself in a pinch. The patio has a gas grill, picnic table and two patio chairs but there's space for your own camping chairs if you'd like to bring some. We also have a fire ring in the yard you're welcome to enjoy and we're happy to help you get a fire started. We are also happy to share our bikes, yard games, canoe, cross country skis, skates, and sleds; just let us know what you're interested in and we'll have it ready for you. ____ Please remember we are a working farm. You are likely to see and hear farm animals, tractors, four-wheelers, "Beep" the 1968 Jeep Gladiator pickup truck, livestock guardian dogs, and all the associated noises and smells... in fact we hope you'll join us for some of the farm chores and experiences! We provide ear plugs if you are likely to be disturbed by the sound of coyotes or working livestock guardian dogs at night. The dogs protect our livestock from predators like coyotes and wolves by barking during the night. There will also likely be wild flowers, garden veggies, chirping crickets, spring peepers, wood frogs, lightening bugs, bees, ducks, sandhill cranes, hawks, and pheasants. We also have a barn cat and a farm yard dog Ziva who may like to hang out on the patio with you (especially if you happen to be cooking any hotdogs or hamburgers). If you'd like to visit the farm animals and explore the pastures with us, don't forget some close-toed shoes or sandals that can be rinsed with the garden hose! :)

Vintage trailer · Sleeps 6 · 1 bedroom · 1 bed · 1 toilet
The vintage remodeled camper trailer sits along a ridge overlooking our regeneratively-grazed pastures at Medicine Creek Farm. Take in the peaceful sight of grazing cows and sheep while sipping your morning coffee, and kick back at a campfire under the milky way just steps from a cozy place to lay your head. The camper trailer features original vintage fixtures alongside reclaimed hardwood floors and rustic woodwork. Medicine Creek Farm is a beautiful expanse of gentle hills and low-lying wetlands on the edge of Minnesota's northwoods. Here, our farm animals live outside in their natural habitat alongside thriving wildlife like coyotes and wolves. Our rotational grazing system aims to improve the soil, water, and air through a cycle of conscious impact, rest, and regrowth, that mimics our earth's natural cycles. We hope your visit will inspire your own rest and regrowth through connection with the natural world. While you're here we invite you to meet the animals, eat from the garden, canoe on the pond, mushroom hunt, bird watch, and support the surrounding businesses and attractions. Activities abound such as hiking, swimming, and kayaking the Kettle River at Banning State Park, biking the nearby Munger Trail, visiting the raptors at Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center, listening to live music at The Vintage Pub or SandRocks, and tasting the flights at Moose Lake Brewery or Sapsucker Farm & Cidery. Just 1.5 hours north of the Twin Cities and 1 hour south of Duluth, we are an easy weekend getaway with all the beauty of the Northwoods and excitement of a working farm.  The camper trailer sleeps two, but if you'd like to camp with friends and share the amenities (water, gas stove, and solar electricity), you may add people to your reservation and there is plenty of space to pitch a tent or two nearby. While extra blankets are provided, please bring your own sleeping bags and pillows like any other camping adventure! • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Camping at this site offers a mix of experiences. Many guests rave about the stunning landscape and the unique charm of staying on a working farm, where they can engage with animals and enjoy the night sky filled with stars. Hannah's knowledge and passion for regenerative farming enrich the stay for those interested in sustainable practices. However, some visitors noted the challenges with the vintage camper, which might be a tight fit for two adults and occasionally plagued by flies due to the farm environment.

    It was okay

Wonderful host. Beautiful accommodations. Would have liked more interactive activities to get involved in while staying on the farm.

  • Liz T.

Camped at Vintage Camper Trailer, Aug 2026.

    It was okay

We were disappointed when we showed up that the vintage trailer honestly can only sleep 1 comfortably. Once pulled put is was a Twin bed size. Two good sized adults would have a rough night sleeping. The campsite was over grown with weeds, it could have been mowed around. Bring a mini grill if you want to meat over a flame. Due to being on a farm there were mega fly around and inside the trailer. Hannah gave a small tour and a wealth of knowledge about regenerative farming.
