The Shepherds Hut
Our cabin is a labor of love, blending rustic craftsmanship with cozy, whimsical design. Inside, you’ll find a warm, wood-paneled sanctuary featuring:
* The Hobbit-Style Bedroom: A unique, circular portal leads to a small double-sized nook with views directly into the trees.
* The Kitchen: Fully equipped for slow mornings, featuring a stone vessel sink, tea and coffee facilities, and cutlery.
* Forest Shower room: Step onto our stone resin floor, wash away the day under a piping hot shower, and pamper yourself with our complimentary toiletries.
The magic truly happens once you step outside into your private area:

Simple camping and comfortable glamping amongst organic fruit trees, wild flowers and woodland, bordering an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with some of the darkest night skies in Europe. In the beautiful High Weald of Kent, Tash and Nick have been running May Tree Orchard's low-impact, nature-friendly, seasonal campsite, Plum Camping, for the last 5 years.
The Soil Association certified organic land is full of wild flowers and surrounded by woodland and other orchards. Electricity and hot water for showers and washing up is solar generated. So you can charge your phone if necessary, but we'd recommend stargazing and enjoying the quiet warmth of friends and family around an evening fire instead.
Bring your own tent, stay in the delightful hand-made shepherd’s hut or stylish caravan, or hire the whole May Tree Orchard space. Numbers are kept low here so that there is always plenty of room for everyone, as well as peace and quiet.
The campsite is an hour and a half drive from London and a 20 min walk to the sleepy and pretty village of Goudhurst, with pubs selling great food and two local shops for self-catering. There are also two excellent farm shops within walking distance.
Close to May Tree Orchard, there are walks via Sissinghurst, Scotney and Bodiam Castle, and water activities on the River Rother and at Bewl Water. Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is a ten-minute drive from the campsite and the coast around Hastings and Rye is just over 30 minutes.
An amazing independent food business, Growing Communities, sells pears, apples and plums grown at the orchard in their box scheme serving North and South London, and you can also buy them from the Pear Necessities stall at Stoke Newington Farmers Market. Delicious apple juice and tasty chutney made from the organic apples grown in the orchard are available to purchase on site, as well as plum preserve and orchard plums.

Nestled between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea coast this site is situated on a working dairy and sheep farm. Farm tours can be arranged on arrival. A play hut with outdoor games, drying room with communal fridge and freezer (some units have their own small fridge). Natural hedges surround the site. Four fruit trees near the shower block
Half a mile to Gosforth village with Bakery, Cafe, 4 Pubs providing food and an Italian restaurant. Gosforth and Seascale villages have play parks.
Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Wasdale, Scafell Pike and Sandy Beaches with Cafes selling local ice cream are nearby with most Lake District attractions within an hours drive and Edinburgh a three hour drive away.
There are 5 campervan/motorhome pitches, a modern take on a shepherds hut with underfloor heating, a heated pod and two gypsy caravans with electricity to book. All pitches are on gravel positioned to enjoy views over farmland to Scafell Pike and other fells, they are surrounded by grassy areas with seating and a picnic table. A wooden play hut has outdoor games and toys inside. Awnings can be added on the 3 larger pitches. Tents can be pitched next to units for extra Barbeques are allowed on gravel with our Gypsy Caravans having a campfire There is a communal fridge freezer. Farm tours can be arranged. Wildlife and farm animals can be seen in the surrounding fields. Grocery deliveries accepted from supermarkets. There is also a holiday cottage on the farm sleeping 6 over two rooms.
Situated midway between the Western Lake District Fells and the Irish Sea Coast makes this site ideal for lower or higher level walks. Sandy beaches at Seascale and St Bees have cafes selling locally made ice cream alongside play areas to keep children happy. Scafell England's highest mountain is close by as are a number of Wainwrights.
Nearby is Muncaster Castle and Gardens with its Hawk and Owl Centre, also Ravenglass, a Roman port. You can ride up the Eskdale Valley on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway. Perhaps take a stroll to Stanley Ghyll waterfall. There are cafes at both terminuses with a museum in Ravenglass where nearby you can sample Ravenglass Ice Cream. Wasdale and Ennerdale are close by both valleys having cafes and pubs.

This peaceful, sheltered site has a special character. The site is the ideal place to unwind with plenty of safe space, a meandering river and friendly atmosphere. It offers 4 acres with facilities, 7 acres of wilderness, shower block, level pitches, picturesque river, children’s playground and has been rated AA 4 star gold pennant.
Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge.
Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

Perfect in so many ways but a little maintenance needed. We pretty much had the site to ourselves, beautiful area, the host was the friendliest host I've had so far. For the price I can not complain. It is a working farm so be prepared for the smell of manure but that did not bother us. Great toilet facilities but require maintenance. But we were happy wanted to stay longer . And will definitely be returning . Preferably in the pod as we stay in the gypsy wagon, nice but the pods looked more welcoming. Thank you for your hospitality

I stayed in Rosella one of the two Gypsy caravans at Thornbank farm. It was just me and my two dogs and it was just right size wise for one person and two dogs but would also be fine for two people. There’s a comfy double bed to sleep in and seating at one side of the van. The van comes equipped with toaster kettle mini fridge and air fryer. It was tricky to keep my dogs contained overnight but one of them is a jack Russell and he wanted to be out hunting farm cats! As long as you have a good sturdy line to attach excitable pets to it’s all fine (from previous camping trips I had brought one anyway). The views and setting are beautiful. The location is in close vicinity to Seascale, St Bees, Whitehaven coast towns / beaches. Food wise you can manage for some meals self catering but there’s a local pub the Lion and Lamb I ordered a fish and chip tea from - delivered to the farm - it was lovely. The owner Cathryn was warm and welcoming and helpful too. Me and the dogs will definitely be back one day. Highly recommend.

Lovely farm site. Spent 2 nights in one of the gypsy bow tops, great facilities including an air fryer, kettle and fridge. Nice little bottle of wine on arrival too. Well located for the nearby village with pubs and eateries. Great location for visiting Ravenglass Railway and Muncaster Castle.

2 nights at Sindles Farm Glamping and Camping
It was so lovely to camp on Laura's land in the Hampshire Hut: it was warm and cosy at night, and there was a beautiful breeze when I lay down on the bed to read late afternoon after walks in nearby fields and on the beach at West Wittering. My friend stayed in the adjoining Sussex hut and we took over the end of the field, cooking on the open fire. We heard an owl at night and hedgerow birds during the day: the huts looked across rural farmland where buzzards and Kites could be seen. Laura was so helpful and welcoming: a wheelbarrow of the driest wood made fires in the evening easy to light. The bathrooms were very comfortable, including starlit visits in the night. We also enjoyed visiting the new Goodwood Art Foundation just 20 minutes away by car.

We had such an incredible time at Westland farm. The Shepard’s hut was perfect for a stay with two small children. It felt very private, and the gated garden area was perfect for our dog and children.
The views and sunsets were totally stunning, especially with the reservoir in the distance.
We loved the hot tub, a real treat. And our son loved seeing all the farm animals. Couldn’t recommend more!

Weekend Trip to Westland Farm
My wife and I had an amazing time. The hut is situated in a lovely farm, next to a lovely little stream so you wake up with the peaceful sound of wildlife and the trickling of the stream. The hot tub is a nice touch. A little fire in the hut keeps the place cosy and warm. Will definitely be returning.

The view was amazing and a cute little spot close to a verity of towns as well as walks. My car had issues with the exhaust box and Cathryn was able to help out by calling a local person to have a look at it which was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for the stay. There's cute farm cats too!

Weekend Trip to Huckleberry Farm
Our getaway to Huckleberry Farm was a gift for my husband’s birthday. Everything from start to finish was really organised and fun. Met all of our expectations. Charlotte and everyone on site were really helpful and sweet. We enjoyed horse riding and seeing the guinea pigs. We stayed in the shepherd’s hut, a clean and well maintained space that felt like home for the night. All in all a wonderful experience. Completely recommend! Thank you Charlotte and everyone at Huckleberry Farm for having Ali & I. Looking back to visiting again sometime soon!

Weekend Trip to Plum Camping in May Tree Orchard
My partner and I had the most amazing one night stay here (wish we had longer) at Plum Farm, surrounded by nature and wonderful peace and quiet.
We had a lovely welcome from Natasha and Tim who are super attentive lovely people. We enjoyed using the firepit to cook our dinner on, we brought most of our own utensils but its all there for you to use if needed. Was great to have running water and the gas hob to use too - Love an outdoors kitchen!
Also loved the home grown, hand picked flowers that were there for us too., we were also very lucky to be given a bottle of Apple juice from the apples grown on the Orchard, definitely recommend buying a bottle if there's any available.
The shepherds hut was cosy and accommodating, was great to have the black out blinds which was a pleasant surprise, had a great night sleep.
I would love to come back next year.

We had the best time in the Shepherd's Huts - it's such a magical place to stay, with beautiful views over the fields and even it's own little woodland walk. We spent two nights just us and our son, then my cousins pitched a tent on the third night. It was so peaceful to be surrounded by nature and have the place to ourselves. The huts were beautiful and cosy and the beds were comfy too. There was everything we needed to have a camping experience that felt both wild yet easy and with all that we needed. We booked a weekend stay with our daughter and it was lovely, very peaceful and calm. She loved feeding the pigs! The hot tub stays hot for a long time once you’ve got it going so worth firing it up nice abs early. The site owners were always around and really helpful too.
