Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too. The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise. This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. The site is 35 min. from Algonquin Park and 11 km from MKC, the world-famous white water paddling centre. 10x10 main floor with sleeping loft. Solar power provides lighting & a propane furnace for cool nights. Solar lights outside provide ambient lighting-may be turned off if preferred. The call of the loons & the barred owl will be your lullaby as you drift off to sleep after a day of hiking, paddling, or swimming.  There is no running water, you will have to bring your own drinking water. You will need to bring everything you require for cooking, eating and washing dishes. There is no sink, stove, or BBQ on site. As the site is off-grid, there are no appliances. There is a split log bench beside the self-contained fire pit.  Please bring your own firewood, matches/lighter,  and/or firestarter materials. Small fires only please, as this is a well-treed location. Fires must be extinguished prior to going to bed — there is a bucket by the firepit. If you are wondering if something is there, I suggest you reach out to check with me before arrival. There is a new private outhouse on site. The outhouse is past the bunkie along the path. Solar lights work with the flick of a switch — one switch by the door, one by the bed. You have access to 2 kayaks and 1 canoe, 2 adult lifejackets. These are located on the waterfront between the bunkie and the house @260 Matcheski Road. Please return these as you found them after each use. They are shared with the guests at the house. It is a natural shoreline at the bunkie, with a sandy bottom — pretty good swimming, actually! Absolutely no harsh chemicals/detergents in the water! Please leave the site tidy and as you found it. Take your garbage and recycling. This is a small lakeside community —  no loud music, please. Respect the solitude!  Please respect the natural setting — leave it as you found it, do not cut live growth.

Chris and Leah are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The campsite is clean, peaceful, and offers the perfect balance of privacy and socializing thanks to the shared beach area. There are plenty of fun activities for kids at the beach, and the time just flies by. This was our second stay here, and one thing I noticed is that many of the guests are returning visitors, which says a lot about how much people enjoy this place. We'll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Misty Meadows Eco Retreat

Misty Meadows was an amazing experience! The land is very private and backs right on to the river. I was only a couple steps away from the water where free kayaks and paddleboards were open for use too! The sites are very spaced out so there is no disruption from neighbours. Chris provides a hammock for the site which was an amazing place to hangout and read a book or just relax. They also have good firewood for sale. Overall a great expereince, I did my first solo-camp here and felt very safe and happy. Thanks Chris!

Lovely site on a beautiful chunk of land! Check-in was smooth, and the staff were very kind and easy to deal with. The site was pleasantly private, and the shelter was a great asset during the storms this week. The mature trees allowed for a good amount of shade, which helped us cope during the heat wave. I found the campground a little confusing to navigate, but that was my only complaint. I would definitely recommend this site and campground!

Site B was absolutely beautiful! Got to meet Lenny, the ruffled grouse who wanders around the area :) Hes super friendly! Andre was very welcoming and the beers are on point. Especially loved the Maple Porter and Léo's Lager!! I will definitely be back, no doubt about it. The hike up the hill can be tough with all your gear, id reccomend bringing some sort of wheeled bag to help out!

We really enjoyed sitting outside and just taking in nature.Pedja is an amazing host, and you won’t find many like him. He made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We even went fishing together, which was completely unexpected but ended up being the best part of our stay. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and genuinely made the experience special.There’s also a beautiful trail nearby if you enjoy walking and exploring. We had a great time overall and would definitely come back again. He even allowed us to stay a couple of extra hours, and there was plenty of firewood for a perfect campfire.

We had a great time at the cabin and Mike was very nice and accommodating. Our dog had a great time being off leash and exploring. We do think the cabin could be a little bit cleaner. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

Loved everything about this hip camp! -Chris and Leah were very friendly, responsive and helpful -the camp site was very private, flat and shaded -the outhouse, shower and the washing station came in really handy and were well maintained -really enjoyed the complimentary use of the kayaks and the life jackets. Definitely would recommend this hip camp.
