Up to 2 RVs or 5 Tents. Perfect for large groups. This is a large private site on a private sandy beach.
I purchased this vast domain in 2001 - it has a sandy lake, beautiful prairies, and forests, I fell in love. I named it Solisterra which is Latin for the Sun and the Earth. Stars here are stunning, forget 4 start hotels, this land has millions of stars. The plants and wildlife are abundant, all summer long there are berries and plants to be picked from wild strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, sweet fern, wintergreen, mushrooms, and much more.

Beautiful view and large open space. Quiet area as well so great for off-leash dog walks. The covered dining area was great for when it was rainy or buggy. Probably the only downside is that the land is not maintained so the grass was quite high in some areas, but this didn't affect our experience significantly. We will be back!
This is truly one of the nicest campsites I’ve stayed at with a beautiful gazebo and private lake access. Unfortunately the host was completely unresponsive for a few months leading up to the weekend and the grounds were unkept, so that felt disappointing/concerning, but with a bit of care this could be a top camping experience for sure. There were really cute turtles in the lake and the water was perfect.
The experience in my group was mixed, the grass in field was very tall, if it was any taller it would have been difficult to find a place to put our tents. But the biggest problem the tall grass made was the bugs. There were endless bugs, if the grass were to be cut it would be much better. The beach is not sandy, it is grass/weeds until the water and then a little sand and then just seaweed. There are chalets to rent extremely close by to the site and our neighbors on both sides were extremely loud and ruined the peace we expected have in nature. The enclosed gazebo was as expected and provided relief from the bugs, there were however many holes in the net. The outhouse...is an outhouse no complaints from me. The lake was nice, we took the canoe from one side to the other in about 15 minutes. All in all we left a night early as we were not really having a great time. My recommendation to the host is to maintain the site a little: Cut grass and fix the holes in the net on the gazebo.
It was a lovely place secluded enough to enjoy our time with ours dogs! The gazebo was a nice addition to have our meal bugs free and play board games at night. The sunset and sunrise were beautiful. We will come back next year for sure!
Great site - quiet and nice adds with the screened in dining area and one of the nicer out houses i have seen\used. The lake was perfect and the night time views of teh starts were spectacular. Great firepit area - would come back for sure (and plan to!)
We loved this site! Peaceful and beautiful. Fantastic sandy walk out into the lake. The screened in dining area was so helpful as well as a fire pit that worked in the rain. We’d definitely want to come back!
Gorgeous campsite! We loved tent camping here with our dog. The gazebo is a life saver. Rain or shine you’ll be able to keep yourself and any important things dry. the lake is clean & beautiful with a nice walk up beach. Overall the site is very spacious and private, i like that the water is shared with some nearby cottages. Would love to come back with a larger group!
Very spacious and private site surrounded by trees. Covered gazebo is fantastic for cooking or hanging out. Access to small Sandy beach and beautiful quiet lake is great for swimming. Velo-route nearby and store in town has all the basics you need. We have been here before and will definitely be back. Thanks Dominique!
This camp site was so beautiful, better than we imagined. The gazebo is perfect to eat meals in, relax at night and provides a shaded area. Although there are so many options for shade with the beautiful surrounding trees. The water access was perfect for my toddler since it's sand and shallow enough for her to play by the shore without being fully submerged. The fire pit was great for cooking our meals, would definitely recommend camping here.
A really great and relatively secluded spot! It has a wonderful walk-in Sandy beach, the site is large with plenty of open space and the screened-in gazebo was a godsend when the bugs were out!
Definitely recommend for a little getaway!
This is a great site for group or family camping. There are plenty of locations for tents and vans. There are bathrooms and there is a screened in dining area. The beach is nice and is a good spot to go fishing, paddling, or swimming. There is plenty of space to set up some yard games and have a great time. I definitely recommend this especially for family or group camping.
Ain't getting much better then this!!! Beautiful property. You can tell the owners put the time and effort into their camp sites. We camped at alot of places and this is definitely one of the best!!! We'll surely be back. Thank yous very much for are stay. We'll be going back! 😊👍👍
Another great stay at South Sandy Beach. Beautiful, quiet setting and close to the Trans Canada Trail make it ideal for those wanting to connect with nature and do some serious walking and trail riding in.
The site and location are beautiful and quiet, the lake offers clear clean water and a easy sandy entry. Dominique was a great host - very responsive and generous with her time whenever we had any questions or needed more information. Between the lake and the very close proximity to the Trans Canada Trail, as well as the local amenities in nearby village, this is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a family weekend or longer. I would highly recommend the site and Dominique as a host. We have already rebooked for 10 days next summer!
A real nice camping spot with everything you need to make the experience more fun. The netted gazebo really came in handy during the rainy days and was a nice area to chill. The land is huge and can fit a lot of people for any big groups, the outdoor washrooms was also a nice touch. I brought a friend for their first camping experience and I chose this area because it had it all, they loved it. The grill in the fire pit has three different levels which made it fun to experiment cooking on a campfire. I would definitely come back. The host Dominique was very nice and accomodating.
We love the campsite. It is private and the lake has a shallow access. It is surrounded with trees so there's a lot of shade. The screened in gazebo is also awesome.
The nearby neighbour is also rental. Just hope for respectful renters during your stay. We had some people partying all day, voices and music so loud until 2:00 am.
Other than that, I will surely recommend the place.
Camping here was amazing! Everything exceeded our expectations! It was our dog's first time tent camping and the lack of direct neighbors and large field meant he could play and be a happy guy whilst not disturbing anyone else. We experienced 3 seasons over our 3 night trip, from staying dry in the screened in gazebo during an epic thunderstorm, to remaining cool in the heat in the lake. Truly remarkable stay!
What an amazing campsite! It's truly a hidden gem. Only an hour from Ottawa downtown, this will be our annual destination. The site itself is massive with enough room to spread out and have a good distance between the tens. The enclosure with the table was a nice addition to keep all of our food there. The outhouses are clean and far enough to allow for privacy. The little beach was lovely, there is a small dock to sit on and the sandy access to water is shallow, great for kids to play in without having to worry about anyone drowning. The lake itself is just the right size to venture out to explore with a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. A much better alternative to renting a site at huge campaign grounds. We can't wait to be back!
This property was perfect for our camping trip! Very private and peaceful with beautiful scenery. Plenty of space to play badminton, throw a ball for the dogs, etc. The lake had a clean, shallow, sandy area that was perfect for kids. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
This was a great site for our family. We loved the big open space but with plenty of trees and shade, the enclosed eating area, nice fire pit, and great swimming from a nice little beach on a quiet lake. Kids got far too much enjoyment out of the dual outhouses. Really wonderful experience for all of us.
