The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. The Point offers a large picnic table, a propane BBQ, comfortable seating, a large rock perfect for sunbathing, and a river view. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. Adventurous visitors might choose to paddle upriver, around an island, and return through the remaining historic canal. For a more strenuous workout, consider paddling up the canal to the Grenville lighthouse and then drifting all the way back to camp with the river's current. Enjoy this historic, lazy river experience!

The Domaine de la Templerie is first and foremost a Table champêtre (farm to table). To have a rustic table, a good majority of the products served in the restaurant must come from the farm. This is why you will find on site a farm with wild boars, geese, ducks, guinea fowl, pheasants, capons, turkeys and many other animals! In 1910, Agriculture Canada set up a research centre that operated until the 1950's.

La Cabine Luciole est une cabane patrimoniale en érable à sucre construite à la fin des années 1800. Il est situé dans une ancienne forêt d'érables moussue avec d'imposants érables majestueux. Il est construit sur une ligne tellurique par des colons irlandais (Erin), ce qui lui confère une puissante énergie pour se régénérer. Vous pouvez également parcourir le labyrinthe crétois, pour rétablir l'équilibre.
La cabine cathédrale au toit de tôle a suffisamment d'espace pour manger, se divertir et faire du yoga, elle dispose également d'une mezzanine pour 2 personnes et peut être utilisée comme coin de lecture, apportez vos propres sacs de couchage, oreillers et serviettes et vous êtes invités à vous installer. monter une tente sur le camping extérieur. Il y a une douche chauffée à pleine pression, des toilettes à compost, un évier extérieur et une station de cuisson. Le site est réservé pour une intimité totale, une seule réservation de groupe à la fois, vous disposez donc de votre propre espace privé dans les bois. Il y a une cheminée dans la cabane avec beaucoup de bois. Le sol est principalement constitué de tremplins naturels, cueillis à la main dans les bois. La cabane est nichée dans une forêt magique de mousse et de fougères avec des lucioles, des hiboux, des cerfs et des renards. Il y a des sentiers de randonnée paisibles et entretenus. Un foyer extérieur de cuisine en forme de sphère sous des lampes solaires lucioles ajoute à l’expérience magique. Il existe de merveilleuses activités telles que la pêche, le kayak (Safari Kayak) et les pistes cyclables dans la région. Remontez le temps et découvrez la rare sagesse des érables à sucre mesurant plus de 150 pieds de haut. Vous ne voudrez plus jamais partir, revenir et voir la splendeur colorée des arbres à l'automne et au début du printemps, nous prévoyons de mettre la main sur la fabrication du sirop d'érable.
Cabine Luciole is a heritage Sugar Maple Cabin built in the late 1800's. It is located in an mossy, old growth maple forest with towering majestic maple trees. It is built on a leyline by Irish (Erin) settlers, giving it powerful energy to rejuvinate. You can also walk the cretan labyrinth, to bring balance.
catherdral tin roof cabin has enough space for dinning, entertaining and yoga, it also has a sleeping loft for 2 people, and can be used as a reading nook, bring your own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels and you are welcome to set up a tent on the outdoor camping site. There is a heated full pressure shower, compost toilet and an outdoor sink and cooking station. The site is booked for complete privacy, only one group booking at a time, so you have your own private spot in the woods. There is a fireplace in the cabin with plenty of wood. The floor is mostly nature stepping stones, hand picked from the woods. The cabin is nestled in a moss and fern magical woods with fireflies, owls, deer, and foxes. There are groomed peaceful walking trails. A sphere shaped cooking outdoor fireplace under firefly solar lights adds to the magical experience. There are wonderful activates such as fishing, kayaking (Safari Kayak) and bike trails in the local area. Go back in time and experience the rare wisdom of the sugar maple trees that are over 150 feet tall. You will never want to leave, come back and see the trees colourful splendor in the fall and in early spring we plan to have hands on maple syrup making.

The whole camping area is beautiful and there are paths into the woods for walks. The site has play areas for kids and spaces for horses, and you can see the whole sky, which allows for star-gazing.

We arrived for a quick night stopover along our road trip. Though we arrived at dusk, we were struck by the beauty of the surroundings. We only made use of the washroom facility which was very clean and well equipped. We saw the neat kitchen from afar. If we come again, we’d allow ourselves more time. Only downside was arriving at night and unable to find out booked site nor signage to find it. We managed to connect with the host after some time.

Weekend Trip to River Rest
We loved our time here at River Rest 🏕️
Its a beautiful site! The vintage camper looked even better in person - it was cozy, clean and comfortable. The potable water was sufficient and the dry toilet was easy and clean to use. The propane stove worked well for cooking 🍳 . There is a tiny fridge inside (not super cold) which can work for keeping food cool with cold-gel ice packs.
And the river access is very private too, although its across the road, we had no issues getting down there even in the night time!
Mel was super accommodating and friendly to talk to ☺️
We enjoyed paddleboarding in the river 🏄♀️ and also had dinner by the water at sunset 🌅
I think this place has incredible value and we definitely will carry some unforgettable memories from our stay here! ✅

The site was absolutely gorgeous - a short walk in to have a whole lake to yourself with its own dock. I’ve been searching forever for something like this in Quebec- it’s a real treat for anyone wanting to really feel alone in nature. We didn’t see the other campsites, but the cabins on the property also looked adorable. Matthew was helpful, communicative and made us feel welcome. 11/10!

Beautiful camping spots - and a very warm welcome by the super hosts. I went tent camping as solo parent with two young children, Matthew and his son were super helpful and supportive, and quick to find good solutions for a great stay. The lake views are stunning, the creek area really cozy, and there are plenty of nice trails to get around exploring. Would love to go back!

My partner and I loved camping on Matthew’s land. We booked the Hermitage site, which was basically its own secluded spot on a beautiful lake. It’s about a 5 minute easy walk to the site from the car and it’s so worth it for a hidden getaway. Matthew is also a very kind host and accomodating host. We had a magical time and look forward to coming back!

Gorgeous, natural property, warm river, oodles of boats/sup to play with, nice gathering spot with screen room and grill to congregate at, and wonderful hosts! Brien is a lovely host who tells interesting stories about the history of the property and area. There are a variety of decks and chairs and hammocks directly on the water to choose from. Definitely make use of the sups/kayaks/canoes and head up river to the bridge. There are two nice parks nearby (over bridge and by canal) and shopping with 5-10 minutes. Thanks so much Brien and Jen for a great week.

We had a great time "glamping" in Rae's cabin. Very private, lots of space and camp fires for days. Definitely would recommend and going to try to come back in the winter to experience the wood stove.

Stayed in the cutest trailer Such a beautiful lake to explore with a private beach. The host was very quick to respond to any inquiries. The use of the paddle board was a bonus.
Only downside is that transport trucks will go up and down the road (road is not as quiet as we thought) and the other guests at the other lot would walk right by or behind the trail. I'd still recommend and would book again

Beautiful scenery at a very organized site. The drives are marked well but I still went to far when I came into the site because I didn’t see the first signs and driveway. It’s also easy to meet other campers at the common areas. The bathroom and kitchen are well planned and stocked.
