The Point...
The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. The Point offers a large picnic table, a propane BBQ, comfortable seating, a large rock perfect for sunbathing, and a river view. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. Adventurous visitors might choose to paddle upriver, around an island, and return through the remaining historic canal. For a more strenuous workout, consider paddling up the canal to the Grenville lighthouse and then drifting all the way back to camp with the river's current. Enjoy this historic, lazy river experience!

Pitch your tent on this beautiful field and jump in the lake or have a nice glass of wine in the screened-in gazebo. The double outhouse means there is no waiting to go. There is a lovely campfire in the middle of the field, which means your group can set up in a circle. Fits up to 5 tents or 2 RVs. There is a sand beach directly on the site

I built this cabin to be a romantic, cozy off-grid getaway for humans , but if most of our guests are being honest, the dogs are the ones having the best time.
There’s a cozy queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet. A covered deck with handcrafted rocking chairs for sunset views. A private fire area below for campfires and stargazing. LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker, a Jackery battery bank, clean well water, lanterns, an outdoor shower, and a clean outhouse. I’ll even haul your gear in by ATV so you can settle in without the hassle.
And after all that work, most guests still seem to agree on the real highlight:
Watching their dogs absolutely lose their minds with happiness.
More than anything, this place has become a favourite for people who want to give their dogs the kind of freedom they rarely get anywhere else. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives.
Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too.
The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise.
This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. For people, it’s a chance to unplug, slow down, and enjoy a kind of peace that’s getting harder to find.
You’ll have access to 10 km of private trails through forest, ridgelines, and lakeshore. Wildlife is plentiful, and depending on the season, you may spot deer, foxes, loons, and maybe even a family of bald eagles!
There’s no electricity or running water, but that’s part of the magic. This is real off-grid comfort: simple, peaceful, and thoughtfully set up so you can enjoy nature without giving up a good night’s sleep.
Whether you come for a quiet escape, or just to watch your dog have the best weekend of their life, this is the place to be.

Please note as we do not have washroom facilities, your RV or Trailer must be self-contained. We can offer garbage removal (compost, recycling, and garbage) for your stay with us. We also welcome any pet travelling with you but please keep them on leash as we have two adorable cats we do not want to scare them.

Bel accueil, discrétion.. le terrain est impeccable et de plus du bois pour se faire un beau feu de camp.. Notez que terrain est sur le bord de la 155, comme indiqué, donc il y a le bruit de passage des véhicules , la nuit c’est beaucoup moins dérangeant. 🔥 merci de l’accueil ☀️💕💕

A great experience camping at Beausite! The Horse walking experience is a must if you have kids, Our 11 year old loved meeting and taking the 2 miniatures Bozo and Mickey for a walk! Mari Lee (forgive me if I spell her name wrong) was awesome with children and was able to do the walk in English! Thanks again!

What a great Hipcamp find! (Shhh! 🤫) Loved my weekend at the Cattails, it was so relaxing. The site was perfect - quiet, clean and very spacious. Kayaking down the canal is very enjoyable, especially the drifting back. The host Brien is very welcoming, friendly and helpful, there's everything you need here. Great spot for a safe, solo camp, thank you!

Our family loved the entire layout of the beautiful property, with the horses, beautiful pond and green hills. The pagoda on the pond is a wonderful place to chat, play games with the kids, read, share a glass of wine, enjoy a meal or simply listen to the frogs while the sun goes down. The owner Marilee (sp?) couldn’t be nicer and likes to ensure you have what you need. Wonderful to have a clean bathroom with a shower too! There are great hiking and biking options nearby. We look forward to coming back!

Loved it so much! Our host was so friendly. The place had such a great charm and attention to detail. Loved the front row show to the ferrier at work! The Colt, horses, and pony were so adorable and sweet. Great shower, and floating kitchen over the lake was amazing! A very unique experience. Check your directions ahead of time, the reception is spotty.

Très belle endroit, donne face à la rivière donc agréable. Possibilité de faire du paddle ou kayak. Il y avait un rond pour faire un feu, une table de camping. Ça donne au soleil jusqu'au soir, à l'ombre le matin. Je recommande cette endroit. Nous étions seul quand nous y sommes allés mais possible que le spot peut accueillir un autre campement. L'hôte a bien expliqué les consignes et reste disponible.

We had a great time at Matthew’s. We had enough privacy and really enjoyed the setup. Great views, the site had its own fire pit, very comfortable. We canoed all three lakes, a great way to spend the afternoon! Lake 1 and 2 are perfect for swimming. Our pup also absolutely loved it! We’ll be back for sure.

Brien is super knowledgeable and welcoming. The canada day fireworks were postponed this year, and reschedule for our first night of our stay. We were welcomed amongst friends and family, with open arms, to watch the show over the water.
The plot is larger than expected and extremely well maintained. We will definitely be booking again.

What a gem of a place. Nice wide open area for campers, cabins, domes. Very well kept grounds, nice washroom with a nice shower and a washer if needed. There is a comman area down by the pond that has a BBQ, coffee, water and its covered if it rains. Can't say enough, we will certainly be back in the future.

On a cute very safe little campground.
Had a great night sleep in my tent near the water, perfect for paddleboarding. Best thing is how safe and friendly the spot is, good for solo travelers. Cute dog and fire pit on site as well.

My friends and I really enjoyed staying at this campsite and loved the proximity to the river rapids and lake. Although the campsites are close to each other there is sufficient room for all your amenities. Drinkable Water was available at the reception and was a small walk from the site. The host was really nice and held good communication. 100% would recommend if you enjoy the sound of running water and very pretty views!

Weekend Trip to Dog Friendly Cliffside Cabin
We had a great time at the cabin and Mike was very nice and accommodating. Our dog had a great time being off leash and exploring. We do think the cabin could be a little bit cleaner. Other than that it was a great place to stay.
