Cranberry Camp is located 7 kms past the village of Pointe au Baril. It’s surrounded by Ontario native forest (the “bush”) and wetlands in the hinterlands of Georgian Bay. We love to share this beautiful part of the world with visitors! We are 3kms from Sturgeon bay Provincial Park (a nice beach!) and 3kms from the Bayfield Inlet public launch on Georgian Bay (visit the iconic pink rocks and windswept trees of Georgian Bay). We came to this area because of the fresh air and clean water. Visitors to the area should be aware that you cannot see any of the Georgian Bay coastline from the highway or roads. We highly recommend you get out on the water in a boat of some kind (there is water access near here for canoes, kayaks and other boats). We also recommend that visitors go to the French River Provincial Park to understand the unique history and culture of the area. That park is 35-40 min north from here and has a lovely small museum/interpretive centre and a footbridge over the French River. This secondary highway (ON 529) is fairly quiet and decent for cycling. It's very quiet north of the ON 529A turn-off! Cranberry Camp also has a small house, a guest lodge for retreats (we host healthy living and healthy building workshops), 2 lovely and private recreational vehicles (a 24’ Jayco and a 27’ Cougar) as well as a tiny home. All spaces are scent-free, low VOC and no WiFi. We help people create healthy homes and buildings. Hipcamp sites are accessed from hard-packed dirt/gravel driveway either perpendicular or parallel to the road. An outhouse contains a composting toilet (using the Humanure system), a solar light and jug of water for handwashing. We love to host people getting away from the city or taking exploratory road trips.

Learn more about this land: Come and camp on beautiful Eagle Lake with approximately 120' frontage facing North. The campsites are only steps away from the water’s edge where you can enjoy stunning sunsets. Swimming, fishing and a playground are just across the road. The sites have a raised fire pit to cook your meals and a picnic table for enjoying them. We can provide firewood for $12 a bag, just ask!  These medium sites can accommodate two tents or a small camper with a total of four people. There is a shared outhouse, with flush toilets at the park across the road. Each site has water and electricity, and you can also find a WIFI signal nearby.  Eagle Lake Narrows Country Store is on the same three acre property. There you can rent boat, canoe, kayak, SUP and bicycles. Right across the road is a public beach, perfect for a relaxing day with family or friends. The public beach also is equipped with handy amenities like bathrooms, change rooms, fishing docks, and extra parking.  Eagle Lake is approximately 3 hours from Toronto, just over 4 hours from Ottawa, and less than an hour to Huntsville. It is very close to Algonquin Park.

Our remote off grid property in the forest east of Eagle Lake is a great place to disconnect and decompress. The roadside Bunkie sleeps 2 comfortably and can accommodate a RV trailer or tent as well. Pets are welcome.  The property has a pit toilet, and campfires are allowed in the designated pit. There is also potable water in the bin with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ area. In the winter water would have to be stored inside. Linen not provided. You’ll wake up surrounded by trees and can explore the great hiking, nature viewing, atv trails and boating in the summer months. In the winter enjoy glaming in the propane heated bunkie, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snow machine trails at the door. Wildlife is all around.  Several lakes and parks are nearby, including Mikisew Provincial Park on Eagle Lake, about 20 km south, where you can go boating, paddling, or swimming and Algonquin Provincial Park is close as well with many lakes and hiking trails. Some restaurants and stores can be found in the South River, about 20 km away.

Camping Areas and Privacy The campground is divided into three distinct camping areas: • Meadow • Lakeside • Shield The lakeside hosts up to 4 groups, the meadow up to 5, and the Shield a single group. Depending on current bookings, several groups may be staying on the property at the same time. The campsites are thoughtfully spaced to provide guests with comfortable personal space and a good degree of privacy. However, booking an individual campsite does not include exclusive use of the entire 44-acre property or the lake. The lake, forest trails, Crown land access routes and certain common outdoor areas may be shared with other registered campground guests. Because the property is large and the three camping areas each have their own landscape and atmosphere, guests can normally enjoy a peaceful, spacious and uncrowded outdoor experience even when other groups are staying on the property. Guests who would like exclusive use of the entire campground for their family or group are welcome to contact the host before booking. Depending on availability, group size and specific requirements, dates and pricing for a private campground booking can be arranged separately. The Lake A secluded 10-acre inland lake borders the property and is especially beautiful during the spring and fall. There is no public road or public boat launch directly on the lake, so the setting is normally quiet and undisturbed. Although the lake cannot be reached by a public road or public boat launch, other registered campground guests may also use it. Unless exclusive use of the entire campground has been arranged in advance, the lake is not reserved for any one individual campsite or group. Lake conditions change naturally with the seasons. During the warmest part of summer—most commonly in July and August—floating aquatic vegetation and duckweed may accumulate along the shoreline closest to the campground. When this occurs, the immediate campground shoreline is not suitable for swimming or launching a boat. Clearer, more open water can generally be found approximately 150 metres farther along the shoreline. Guests whose main priority is swimming, paddling or boating should plan to use nearby Killbear Provincial Park or Georgian Bay, where excellent public water-access options are available. A 12-foot aluminum boat with a four-stroke motor may be available to rent when lake conditions permit. The rental fee is $60 per day, including fuel. Please confirm availability and lake conditions before booking the boat. Who This Campground Is For This property is especially well suited to couples, families and independent outdoor travellers looking for: • Quiet surroundings and generous personal space • A large natural property to explore • Hiking, wildlife watching and stargazing • Campfires and relaxed time outdoors • Beautiful meadow and ranch views • Convenient access to Killbear Provincial Park, Georgian Bay and Parry Sound This is a natural wilderness property rather than a developed beach or resort. Trails throughout the property as well. Trailer conversion so you can camp in comfort. I provide a clean mattress pad for each visitor, but no bed linens or pillows. If you need a towel let me know. The Glamper is situated between two BnB’ cabins but is private with views (no one can see each other) but trails, field, and parking are shared. Owner lives on site as well. There is no A/C. Wifi is available for if you walk 30 yards towards it, and depending on your carrier, there may be no cell or data service at all.

This is a small, very quiet site. The owners are lovely and so helpful, even parked our travel trailer for us. Sadly we had car trouble and had to leave early with a tow truck, but will definitely go back. The on site shower and toilet was immaculate and clean and there’s a fire pit and wood to use as well. It’s also close to Mikisew Provincial Park and Eagle lake for khaki b etc.

We needed a site and wow did this place deliver! The host on site was super nice; they even helped guide our trailer in. The bathroom on site was clean, and the water in the shower was very hot (my wife tells me this is a good thing.) At night it was quiet and peaceful, the perfect spot to relax and reflect on your day. And I mean it was quite, MUCH more so than your normal park; even though you're only a 5 minute drive from Eagle Lake & Mikisew Provincial Park. We had 50 amp service, water, sewer, a clean picnic table, an additional table, and they even provide the fire wood for you. The site was gravel and fit our 23' trailer nicely with only a little effort needed to level it. We cannot recommend this host enough, my wife and I hope to return with our family and make even more memories here in the future!

We really enjoyed our two night stay in the Hairy Foxes site! Incredibly quiet and peaceful. Very friendly and helpful management. While we couldn't have a fire on our site, the communal firepit was just steps from our site. We enjoyed meeting the other campers and the manager kept it well stocked with nice dry hardwood. The bathroom was a work in progress but was immaculate with new fixtures and shower. The night sky was stunning. We will absolutely be back!

We had such a great time at this campsite. We would book back here in a heartbeat. It was exceptionally clean and the property is well cared for. We had a couple other friends at the neighboring sites and we all had a great time around the communal firepit. They provided the wood and a hose nearby to ensure that the fire was put out safely before we all went to bed. We are all planning another trip at the same time for next summer!

Very nice set up for RV with all services, closed to beautiful lake Eagle, nice beach and excellent fishing lake for bass. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Very private. We will comeback. Thanks for sharing your paradise
