We have our own little private horseshoe beach and the large Spindlers Beach is 5 walking minutes away. 20 Minutes to beautiful Lunenburg and 30 Minutes to Bridgewater, Ovens Park, and Rose bay are just around the corner. This is the perfect spot for the individual camper who does not want to be on a crowded Campground and does not need any further services, but wants fantastic views and sunsets on the Atlantic ocean. Easy in and out driving and ample room for you and your camper limited to 12 spots only.

This land was farmed by the Crooks family, one of the original Tancook families, going back to 1865. Crooks Hill grew cabbage to be made into sauerkraut - one of the main exports of Tancook Island! We're located on a beautiful historic lobster fishing island, right next to the ocean. Unparalleled night skies. Local cafe with amazing (and reasonably priced) food. Post office, Wishing Stones gallery and meeting spot, South Cove Small Goods for snacks and unique finds, Toast Cafe at the community recreation centre, Southeast Cove beach and sand flats (when tide is out). Arrive by ferry from Chester, bring your bikes and tenting gear. Expect to enjoy fresh farm eggs and whatever herbs and veg in the garden, pet the goats and sheep, and watch the animal antics of a small working farm. Island tours available with South Cove Experiences plus small goods shop with pantry and takeaway lunch for your daily exploration. As your host is a bread-baker and fibre arts instructor, you can book a lesson to learn knitting, wool-spinning, felting, make an embroidered patch as a memento or just hang out and have your own creative getaway. Our lot is open, and while we recommend a camping spot on the flatter spots, there are a few spaces on our hill that give a wonderful view of the night sky and ocean in the daytime.

Well drained site in the woods, I came with a 17 foot RV and had no issues. Little sand area on the water gets some good sunshine. Private spot…your dry camping… Host is excellent, helpful and a very nice human… Nice area here, bridgewater is great for supplies, beaches everywhere, very clean environment Close enough (25m) to crescent beach for kitesurfing…pray for wind I’ll be back…🏄‍♂️

Beautiful spot on Grant lake! Very private and quiet. Very large lot, easily fit our 20ft R-pod , truck and screen tent with room to spare! Canoe and life vests on the lot for your use. A port-potty on your site and a large picnic table. Loons and frogs sound lovely at night, lots of wild life, Eagles, kingfishers etc,,, Only a short drive to the local grocery store. We will be booking this site again!

We had a very nice 2 day stay at this campground. We have 2 dogs and it is great to have the single camp site so as not to have to worry about neighboring campers with dogs as well. The campground itself is very easy to get to in any kind of car, nice and clear/flat space to set up a tent but with a lot mature deciduous trees interspersed providing very significant shade cover during the day (nice and cool wven when really hot) If you're looking for a bit of a walk you can get into rails to trails The one adjustment that we had to make was regarding the proximity of the site to the road. While it is definitely far enough back from the road to feel private in terms of visibility, it is close enough that you hear the cars driving by, and it is a medium-busy road. So it is just good to be aware of that variable, and personal preference whether this would bother you or not. I was quite aware of it on arrival the first afternoon/evening but by the second day/night I had adjusted. And with really only this one consideration, it seems very fair for the price!

We have done a lot of camping with our kids. We first discovered this spot last fall and swore we’d be back in the warmer months to enjoy the lake more. This was one of our favourite camping trips to date. The location is amazing. The facilities are fantastic. It’s clean, organized, has SOOO much included for enjoying the water. Kayaks, paddle boards, canoe, and even has waterproof phones cases. Our kids (and dog) thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the trip. We spent hours on, and in, the lake. The shaded area of the camp site was perfect for the heat wave, as was the lake!

The Ship Wreck is a secluded getaway on Hennigar Lake 45 minutes from Halifax. It includes a converted 29’ sailboat, a large open air cookhouse including a wood fired pizza oven and propane fridge and stove and a wash house with composting toilet and gravity fed sink. In May we will have available a further sleeping accommodation featuring an antique double bedstead. An outdoor shower can wash away a day’s labours! This is a sweet little property of approximately an acre, though the whole lake is undeveloped. The site is treed with mostly mature trees and overlooks Little Robertson Lake. The lake is close, but the shoreline is not extremely easy to access. This campsite is private, but not remote. It is located close to a byway and you can drive in. There is not too much traffic on the adjacent road which leads to several white sand ocean beaches and trails along with Keji Seaside National Park and Thomas Raddall Provincial Park. All within a few minutes drive.
