Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting. Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim. All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories. All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water. Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking. Contact us to inquire about large group and event rates. We host LARPing weekends twice a month. We also have a limited number of seasonal sites available from June to September. I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. There is nothing nicer than to have people drop by and spend a couple of hours, a day or a weekend, sometime when I get real lucky it's for a longer period of time :-)

Located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario, this beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest is situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and more. The Point... The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. I built this cabin to be a romantic, cozy off-grid getaway for humans , but if most of our guests are being honest, the dogs are the ones having the best time. There’s a cozy queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet. A covered deck with handcrafted rocking chairs for sunset views. A private fire area below for campfires and stargazing. LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker, a Jackery battery bank, clean well water, lanterns, an outdoor shower, and a clean outhouse. I’ll even haul your gear in by ATV so you can settle in without the hassle. And after all that work, most guests still seem to agree on the real highlight: Watching their dogs absolutely lose their minds with happiness. More than anything, this place has become a favourite for people who want to give their dogs the kind of freedom they rarely get anywhere else. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives. Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too. The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise. This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. Weekend Trip to Dog Friendly Cliffside Cabin

This cabin is such a restful retreat in the middle of the forest, with a big beautiful hiking trail right on the property. It’s fully secluded for dogs to run freely, yet Mike and Monique live right nearby for anything you need during your stay. The cabin is equipped with all the essentials, the bed is comfy and Mike is highly responsive to any needs, while also respecting your privacy. I can’t wait to return!

A wonderful little spot! The cabin overlooking the cliff makes you feel like you’re above the trees, and the sunsets are to die for. Everything we could need was provided, which made for the most relaxing weekend ever. Of course, our dogs had the most amazing time, running free in the forest while we walked along the marked trails. It felt both private and homey, the perfect combination for a getaway from the city. Jennie and Jeremy were excellent hosts with a beautiful spot in the heart of hiking country. Absolutely just an incredible site and definitely make sure to look them up if you're in the area and need a place to lay your head. Unfortunately I didn't get to try out any of their amazing extras as it was mainly a business trip. Next time I'm in the area I look forward to having more time at the site and trying out more of their options. Reserve here with confidence!

I came back to Agape Gardens less than a week after my 1st stay. That says it all! There's something really special about this place. The peace, nature, and quiet atmosphere make it the perfect place to disconnect and recharge. The outdoor hot tub late at night is an absolute must! Such a relaxing and unforgettable experience under the night sky. Jennie & Jeremy are amazing hosts, and everything feels welcoming and relaxing. Definitely becoming one of my favourite getaway spots!

Had a great stay at Jennie’s land! The site was peaceful, well kept, and exactly what we were hoping for. Super dog friendly, and the kids had an amazing time playing with the dogs and exploring around the property. Lots of space to relax, enjoy nature, and hang around the campfire. Jennie was friendly, responsive, and made the whole experience easy and welcoming. Would definitely come back again!

I stayed 1 night at Agape Gardens on a solo getaway & loved every minute of it. Jennie's so kind & welcoming, and the whole place has such a peaceful and calming energy. Surrounded by nature, quiet, fresh air… it was exactly what I needed to disconnect, relax, read, and recharge. Everything was also super clean and well taken care of. I enjoyed the experience so much that before even leaving I booked my next stay a few days later. Can’t wait to come back!

Camp dans Rouge is a lovely cabin equipped with everything you need. She is a very attentive host who wants to ensure that you have a comfortable stay. The red river is beautiful and so is the forest behind the cabin. Had a lovely time grilling and enjoyed the warmth of the campfire on a chilly night. Highly recommend this hipcamp.

Weekend Trip to Whispering Pines - Curran, Ontario

I adored my stay at Whispering Pines. We came up before the grounds had officially opened for the season and despite Eileen’s concern of her property not being at its best, it was BEAUTIFUL! The land is both whimsical and enchanting, with so much to see and explore. The spring fed pond was a highlight and my dog (who does not like water) had the best time fetching sticks from the water. Both the pond and beach are much larger than the photos show. You can tell that this place is well loved, with people returning year after year to experience the tranquility it offers. Eileen was a lovely and attentive host, and is spoken of very highly from other campers. This place is a hidden gem, it’s close to a few towns if you forget ice and has cell reception to send a pic of your campfire to your friends in the city. It has a variety of site configurations, whether you want views of the water, or a space tucked away with more privacy, maybe a spacious and flat area or a cozy site with hammocking trees - there is something for everyone. If you’re lucky your site might have tables or chairs, maybe a grate for campfire meals or a pre set line to hang dry gear. The outhouses were spotless and topped up with toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and plenty of wood available to keep a strong campfire going. Eileen created an authentic backcountry camping atmosphere that simply can’t be found elsewhere. My only complaint is not finding this gem years ago. I love this spot and I will be back!

In order to carry out major restoration work on its historic buildings, the Manoir Papineau National Historic Site will also be closed to the public in 2020. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you in 2021 for the grand reopening! More information Set in Montebello, halfway between Gatineau and Montréal, Manoir Papineau is a page straight out of 19th century history that opens right before your eyes, the grand estate of Louis-Joseph Papineau, the man who was to become a leading figure in Canadian politics. Flanked by four towers, the manor house rules over its surrounding landscape with its landscaped garden, spacious lawns, wooded areas and a stream. Take an excursion into the life of the head of Francophone patriots. On the menu: a guided tour of the manor and its outbuildings. Nostalgia is guaranteed.

When to go

The best time to visit Manoir Papineau National Historic Site is in spring. Experience the site in full bloom and comfortable weather. Avoid visiting outside the public season as the site is closed, and you'll miss the chance to witness its historical grandeur firsthand.
