Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting.
Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim.
All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories.
All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water.
Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking.
Contact us to inquire about large group and event rates. We host LARPing weekends twice a month. We also have a limited number of seasonal sites available from June to September.
I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. There is nothing nicer than to have people drop by and spend a couple of hours, a day or a weekend, sometime when I get real lucky it's for a longer period of time :-)

LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker, a Jackery battery bank, clean well water, lanterns, an outdoor shower, and a clean outhouse. And after all that work, most guests still seem to agree on the real highlight:
Watching their dogs absolutely lose their minds with happiness.
More than anything, this place has become a favourite for people who want to give their dogs the kind of freedom they rarely get anywhere else. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives.
Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too.
The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise.
This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. For people, it’s a chance to unplug, slow down, and enjoy a kind of peace that’s getting harder to find.

I built this cabin to be a romantic, cozy off-grid getaway for humans , but if most of our guests are being honest, the dogs are the ones having the best time.
There’s a cozy queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet. A covered deck with handcrafted rocking chairs for sunset views. A private fire area below for campfires and stargazing. LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker, a Jackery battery bank, clean well water, lanterns, an outdoor shower, and a clean outhouse. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives.
Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too.
The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise.
This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. I had such a great experience at this campsite and would absolutely come back. The grounds are beautiful although a bit muddy since the snow just melted. The views are stunning in every direction, and the sound of water running down the rocks adds such a peaceful, calming vibe to the whole experience. Sleeping in a tent next to running water is such a peaceful, grounding feeling. The gentle sound of the water flowing over the rocks creates this natural white noise that instantly relaxes you.
It’s also super dog friendly, which made the trip even better. They had plenty of space to explore and were just as happy as I was. There are picnic tables set up throughout, making it easy to relax and enjoy meals outdoors as long as weather permits.
Parking is very convenient and close to the sites, which makes unloading and setting up stress-free. I also really appreciated how clean and practical everything was, garbage bins are easy to find and well-maintained up the road. A huge bonus is that there’s a Metro grocery store just 5 minutes away, so if you forget anything or want to grab fresh food, it’s incredibly convenient.
Overall, it’s the perfect mix of nature, comfort, and accessibility. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and well-equipped camping spot!

We had a wonderful stay at Camp dans Rouge! Rae was a wonderful host, always going above and beyond to making sure we were well settled, comfortable and had a great time there!
If you’re planning on going there over the winter, don’t hesitate! The furnace warms up the cabin very well (we were toasty, also there’s a CO2 detector so no risk there), the bed was comfy, and the place equipped with everything one might need while camping and more (kitchen utensils, but also kettle, mini fridge, etc.). We definitely had a great stay and would totally be down to come back another time!

An absolutely perfect winter cabin retreat. Cozy, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped. It was a great place to unplug, relax, and enjoy the winter season. We loved being able to let our dog roam safely off-leash and enjoy the freedom. Mike gave us such a warm welcome that immediately made us feel at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and falling asleep while gazing at the stars through the trees was a magical touch. The outdoor kitchen was one of our favourite features. We hope to return.

Great site and great very accommodating, kind hosts! My sister and I stayed a night at their tent site. Jenny and her husband were helpful in showing us around, making sure we had everything we needed, and even offered us firewood when ours was wet.
The property itself was beautiful and we had full access to an indoor room to warm up, a bathroom with warm water and shower, and trails around the property. We even stoppped for a while to look at the chickens they keep.

We had an amazing time at Anastasia's Domain. The cabin was super cozy and had everything we needed, plus the fire was already going when we arrived which was a nice bonus. The trail system nearby is great for some nature walks/snowshoeing and the pond was in crisp condition for some skating. We loved everything about our stay in the Cliffside Cabin and will definitely return. The cabin is cozy and inviting and kept us snug and warm despite the frigid -30 degree temps outside. The bed is heavenly; so comfortable for sleeping, and also surrounded by windows for enjoying the stunning views and sunset. The cabin strikes the perfect balance of rustic and convenience, so you get the charm and atmosphere of being off grid, but the comfort and ease of having lights easily accessible and sleeping through the night without having to stoke a fire to stay warm. The property is incredible. It’s totally private and has tons of beautiful wooded trails to explore. We snowshoed for hours and enjoyed the variety of trail types, from machine set to human set to making our very own in the deep snow! We were there during a nighttime snowshoe race so got to see all the headlamps moving very quickly through the forest from the comfort of the cabin after our own snowshoe adventure. Our dog, who is reactive and barky in the city, was able to be off leash and lived his best life from arrival to departure. He tired himself out exploring and put himself to bed early! Last but definitely not least, Mike was an exceptional host. He is responsive and thoughtful, offering to reschedule when I asked about the cold, and even offering to loan us his dog’s jacket when I said I might buy one. He is interesting and so easy to talk to, and we left his presence feeling uplifted. Highly recommend!

In order to carry out major restoration work on its historic buildings, the Manoir Papineau National Historic Site will also be closed to the public in 2020. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you in 2021 for the grand reopening! More information Set in Montebello, halfway between Gatineau and Montréal, Manoir Papineau is a page straight out of 19th century history that opens right before your eyes, the grand estate of Louis-Joseph Papineau, the man who was to become a leading figure in Canadian politics. Flanked by four towers, the manor house rules over its surrounding landscape with its landscaped garden, spacious lawns, wooded areas and a stream. Take an excursion into the life of the head of Francophone patriots. On the menu: a guided tour of the manor and its outbuildings. Nostalgia is guaranteed.

The best time to visit Manoir Papineau National Historic Site is in spring. Experience the site in full bloom and comfortable weather. Avoid visiting outside the public season as the site is closed, and you'll miss the chance to witness its historical grandeur firsthand.
