The best forest camping in Quebec

·

Quebec’s forests offer real variety if you’re after a camping spot that puts you among the trees. On Hipcamp, you’ll find over 220 forest campsites across the province—think mossy ground, pine needles underfoot, and plenty of space to roam. Most sites average around $65 a night, but you can find options as low as $15 if you book early or keep an eye out for deals. Don’t expect to rough it: toilets, showers, and pet-friendly policies are common, and you’ll have easy access to hiking trails, snow sports in winter, and reliable fishing spots. For tried-and-tested picks, check out Blueberry Lake Camping (138 reviews), Dobedo Camps (94 reviews), and Camp, Ottawa river, Grenville C-O-G (90 reviews). Locals know these forests get muddy in spring and buggy by midsummer, so pack accordingly. You’ll hear loons at dusk, find firewood stacked at most entrances, and, if you’re lucky, spot a deer or two on your morning walk.

Come and enjoy a traditional, rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa River! Bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak (or you may rent one of ours) for an unforgettable adventure. Located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario, this beautiful forest is situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais. The 59 acre property (50 acres of land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking and more. The Point... The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. The Point offers a large picnic table, a propane BBQ, comfortable seating, a large rock perfect for sunbathing, and a river view. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. Adventurous visitors might choose to paddle upriver, around an island, and return through the remaining historic canal. For a more strenuous workout, consider paddling up the canal to the Grenville lighthouse and then drifting all the way back to camp with the river's current. Enjoy this historic, lazy river experience! Nearby Amenities... Numerous amenities are located within a distance of 1-3 kms, including a gas station with electric vehicle charging facilities, an IGA grocery store, and various restaurants such as McDonald's and Tim Horton's. For a classic poutine experience, Jos Patate is a great choice, having been around for many decades. If you're looking for a wide range of poutine options, La Fromagerie is the place to go and for ice cream lovers, La Crémière is located in the same building! ...It is a "must-visit" on a hot summer day. Tourism... Numerous tourist attractions are conveniently located in the vicinity, such as the exhilarating white water rafting experience on the Rouge River and the wildlife-filled Parc Omega zoo, both within a short 10-25 km distance. For a wider range of activities, day trips to Ottawa, Montreal, the Calypso water park, or Mont Tremblant are all approximately an hour's drive away.

The Domaine de la Templerie is first and foremost a Table champêtre (farm to table). To have a rustic table, a good majority of the products served in the restaurant must come from the farm. We transform our product at the farm and sell them at the farm too. We also have a soccer field, volleyball court and horseshoe pit. * Version française * Bienvenue à notre ferme! **IMPORTANT** Please message us for availability before booking. Some escapes are real. This is one of them. Lièvre Rouge sits on 275 private acres in the Upper Laurentians, 2.5 hours north of Montréal, 2.5 hours nndrth of Ottawa and just one hour from Mont-Tremblant Close enough for a short getaway and far enough from everything that the silence becomes something you can feel. No road noise. No ambient light. Just boreal forest, three spring-fed lakes, and the particular weight of having nowhere to be. The micro-cabins are designed to disappear into the landscape - not minimalist for aesthetics, but stripped of everything that gets in the way. Wake up to birdsong or snow-muffled quiet depending on the season. Step outside to a lake that, for these few days, belongs entirely to you. The Spa du Sous-Bois (Open from August to May) is the kind of place you stop rushing through. Outdoor thermal soaking, wood-fired sauna, deep forest quiet. Included in your stay. Best appreciated after a long afternoon on the trails or before the evening begins. Friday and Saturday evenings, follow the lights through the trees to the Café-Buvette - a forest speakeasy that doesn't appear on any map. Handcrafted cocktails, local spirits, craft beers... the kind of atmosphere that only exists when the setting does the work. The property connects directly to the P'tit Train du Nord, one of Québec's most beloved outdoor corridors. Cycling in summer, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. We don't close for any season- we just change what's waiting for you outside. This is not a resort. No front desk, no itinerary, no manufactured experience. What there is: 275 acres, three lakes, a forest spa, and a hidden bar at the end of a path through the trees. Minimum stay: 2 nights. Most guests wish they'd booked 3. Cert#: 627811
