The Point... The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. I built this cabin to be a romantic, cozy off-grid getaway for humans , but if most of our guests are being honest, the dogs are the ones having the best time. There’s a cozy queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet. A covered deck with handcrafted rocking chairs for sunset views. A private fire area below for campfires and stargazing. LED lighting, a Bluetooth speaker, a Jackery battery bank, clean well water, lanterns, an outdoor shower, and a clean outhouse. I’ll even haul your gear in by ATV so you can settle in without the hassle. And after all that work, most guests still seem to agree on the real highlight: Watching their dogs absolutely lose their minds with happiness. More than anything, this place has become a favourite for people who want to give their dogs the kind of freedom they rarely get anywhere else. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives. Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too. The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise. This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. For people, it’s a chance to unplug, slow down, and enjoy a kind of peace that’s getting harder to find. You’ll have access to 10 km of private trails through forest, ridgelines, and lakeshore. At our place, it's public land, so we aim to offer access as simply as possible. We'd love to chat with you around the fire, or give you space to relax, depending on your needs. We live in our eco-friendly straw bale house on the property, and the forest behind can welcome you. We've prepared a flat space for setting up a tent in the heart of the forest with a view of the lake; you'll be very secluded! Access to an outdoor compost toilet is available at all times. Access to the wild lake out back with canoes on-site. Access to the fire pit. Access to numerous hiking trails nearby. Beautiful camping spot! It’s incredible to camp near the falls. This site is facing a quiet part of the lake rather than the rapids, so it’s a perfect safe spot to jump in and swim. There is enough flat area to pitch a tent, but the rest is quite slanted with lots of roots and rocks, so you have to watch your step. If the picnic table was levelled it would be much better for preparing food. Overall we loved our stay, and it was so lovely to look out on the misty lake with our campfire going. A little piece of paradise!

We are very happy with our 2 night stay at Rae's camping site. We chose it because of all the available amenities. We were super glad with the place as everything was set up to give us beginners a sweet first time camping trial. It gave us a very fun first taste and we are excited to do more camping now :). What a great Hipcamp find! (Shhh! 🤫) Loved my weekend at the Cattails, it was so relaxing. The site was perfect - quiet, clean and very spacious. Kayaking down the canal is very enjoyable, especially the drifting back. The host Brien is very welcoming, friendly and helpful, there's everything you need here. Great spot for a safe, solo camp, thank you!

Our family loved the entire layout of the beautiful property, with the horses, beautiful pond and green hills. The pagoda on the pond is a wonderful place to chat, play games with the kids, read, share a glass of wine, enjoy a meal or simply listen to the frogs while the sun goes down. The owner Marilee (sp?) couldn’t be nicer and likes to ensure you have what you need. Wonderful to have a clean bathroom with a shower too! There are great hiking and biking options nearby. We look forward to coming back!

Loved it so much! Our host was so friendly. The place had such a great charm and attention to detail. Loved the front row show to the ferrier at work! The Colt, horses, and pony were so adorable and sweet. Great shower, and floating kitchen over the lake was amazing! A very unique experience. Check your directions ahead of time, the reception is spotty.

We had a great time at Matthew’s. We had enough privacy and really enjoyed the setup. Great views, the site had its own fire pit, very comfortable. We canoed all three lakes, a great way to spend the afternoon! Lake 1 and 2 are perfect for swimming. Our pup also absolutely loved it! We’ll be back for sure.
